Yo, guys --

Going "off topic" for a moment......

Yesterday I downloaded a battleship picture -- and I wasn't paying attention to the file name.  This guy wrote an entire book!!!  The file name is unbelievably long and now I can't delete the file, can't move it, and can't rename it to something shorter.  I did open the picture in "Paint" and saved it as a JPEG with a shorter name -- no problem.

I used to buy those "Windows For Dummies" manuals -- but quit doing so because they kept changing the operating systems -- so very, very, often.

Can anyone tell me how to kill "The file that won't die" in Windows 10 ??? *:???:

Remember -- I need this in "step 1" -- step 2 -- etc, etc, format.  Don't miss a step, but keep it to the "Kiss Principle". *:D

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

If you downloaded it in a subfolder, try to move it to "C/:"  (no copy, just cut and paste) and then try to change the name. I had the same problem but the files were in subfolders were the folders and files are more "limited" to allow long names. I wish it could help you.

I appreciate the thought -- but it's a single file -- no subfolder.

No shortage of "Dummies" though. Glad I'm still on W7!

Try this-

I have a similar issue myself. When I delete a file, it seems to stay there. I hit refresh and it's gone. Somewhat annoying.

Thought I'd post another picture before hurricane Ian catches up with me.  I'm in the Carolinas, but Duke Power is notorious for losing power -- even in nothing more than a heavy rain.

The eye wall is due to hit about 60 miles north of me around 2. So far, I have a loose awning. If you don't hear from me after today, I'm up there with the chick on a bike. *:D

My sincere best wishes, my friend --

I'm just worried about losing the TV and computer.  But this is the reason I did not move to Florida 40 years ago......

GOOD LUCK -- !! *:thumb:

It takes more than a hurricane to get this bird's feathers wet. That makes 5 'canes and 2 earthquakes for me, on the disasters. This is supposedly the "Storm of the Century", but I went through 2 others called that, which means I'm over 300 years old. Just got the power on last night, but too tired to pop in. Spent the last 2 days cutting trees and debris. I made out alright. Damage to my garage roof, 3 broken windows, a shutter and minor stuff. I hear it's on it's way to you. Good luck!

Where I live, it used to be called the "Toyota Echo" until 2005. The right successor of the then unkillable "Toyota Tercel".

I'm sorry to hear about the damage -- lots of $$ to fix that stuff.  (A single wood screw costs a fortune, these days!)  But I'm "D_m__d" glad to hear you're OK !!  *:D *:D *:D

I'm one up on you for Earthquakes (California -- little ones don't count) -- but you got me on Hurricanes.  "Hugo" came right over my house and I had trees everywhere and some serious roof damage (I built down in a narrow depression -- so wind and tornadoes go right over me -- mostly).

Duke Power surprised me, this time -- it only "blinked" once and came right back on.  My "dish" (TV) is still out -- but that will come back some time today -- I hope.  Only one tree down, this time (I've got so many, I'll never miss that one).

The storm is now well on it's way to see them Yankees, up North.  *;)

Ta, Mate --

Currently working on this:

Untitled.jpg.e7eaa7c6433b6777a4843de482182b67.jpg

But there's one thing I'm not sure of; what is enclosed in the small fenced area behind the restaurant... propane tanks to fire up the grills? I have no idea and I can't get a rear shot of this place, if anyone knows what could be there please tell me so I have some idea what to add to this other than just this fencing, thanks.

My money would be on a dumpster or something like that. This location near me has one in what would be roughly the same spot. For what it's worth, with how much that roof hangs over everything else, the area enclosed by the fence will probably barely be visible.

Not if you're in the construction biz. I've got a garage and shed full of building crap. Already replaced all my broken windows for the price of free. Fortunately I learned how to cut glass, a long time ago.

They usually keep the dumpster far away from where customers are. My money is they keep a ladder to get on the roof, mops and brooms, a freezer for all the ice cream they make, and especially soda canisters, which are their main source of profit. Stuff that would take up too much room in the kitchen, that they don't want to get stolen.
