I would let PIM-X decide that for you, that way you get sure it is equilibrated with the rest of the game.

They look like R$$ medium density homes to me. That's a lot of square footage for a mid-density single-family home. I agree with @matias93 that PIM-X would be the best option for figuring out the population numbers and growth starts.

The Australasian Shipping Co Building is in game. It has a number of options:

1) A wharf-side IM plop which will conform to a number of available sea-walls, which ties in with its historic use as an industrial building on Sydney Harbor

2) as a reward lot which ties in with its present-day use as a gallery/tourist trap space

and 3) as a plain IM growable

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Korver's project is not my pair of shoes either but it's fun to watch sometimes.

As for unfriendly campaigning I can only say this much - like it or offer constructive criticism. Otherwise, may you forever hold your peace.

WARNING: THESE TILES ARE NOT INTENDED TO BE OPENED AND PLAYED. ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING IS MAXIS, THEY DO CONTAIN CUSTOM PLOP STREETS WHICH
REQUIRE NAM INSTALLED.

These are meant to fill some of those tiles you really don't feel like building, but are necessary to fill up your regions. They are
basically the same, but come in four orientations in Small size. They are built primarily with MAXIS content. You can open them to look
around, just don't save them. Included in each folder are day pics if you need to stitch them into other shots. Instructions for how to
simulate inter-city connections are pictured above.  Remove those folders, place the rest in your regions folder and import them into the
region you want them in. Copy them as often as you want. Also included are 3 bonus maps of lakes. 7 maps in all.

Thanks for your opinions on my upcoming set of homes.

Are these a bit more R$ looking for everyones' taste?

psake.jpg.b359fc89c29c1b8dd9b1fbd7d705653b.jpg

These I could see as R$ duplexes with a shared entrance. Removing the garage helps a lot, since it removes the impression of a single-family home. They're a great complement to the R$$ versions.

I'll also quickly say, I think the textures look a lot stronger on the R$ versions. I wonder if there's a way to weather the walls and roofs on the R$$ versions a bit so that they aren't quite as drab as this set, but have a little less saturation and a little more depth?

Also, I was trying to put my finger on something that stood out about the roofs on the R$$ homes, and I just realized what it is comparing them against this set: the roofing textures on the R$$ dormers are out of scale with the textures on the other parts of the roofs, which makes the shingles on the dormers appear 2x or 3x as large. I think a similar effect is happening on the very front section of the R$ homes (the porch overhang). The shingles look a little bit smaller than the rest of the roof. But it's not as noticeable as the R$$ models.

You are absolutely right! I can't believe I didn't catch that before I rendered them out. I'll be sure to look out for what is causing that effect (I think it's just a result of lazily/hastily copying the textures to the dormers)

I'll probably just upload them as-is since the effect is only very noticeable at zoom level 5, and there would be 12 lit recolors to deal with.

I'll stay away from built in garages for R$ in the future. But I really wanted to do those houses with the basement garage because they are pretty nifty (

and there's nothing like that in-game yet, afaik. Plus, that area is probably considered R$$$ now..... much changes over a lifetime, I suppose.

The method Korver uses is to take aerial photographies and create ground textures with them, so they would only work for an specific place, which doesn't lend itself at all for any other use on the game.

I think, though, that playing with semi-transparent MMPs something similar could be done: we already have semi-transparent water, so some sand shadowing shouldn't be that difficult. Nonetheless, getting those striking shadows might be much more complex, if not outrightly impossible without custom textures, but those are the reasonable limitations of a game from 2003 that doesn't even is in 3D.

Mattb325 has a set that's relatively similar (including the basement garage), though they're styled as modern homes rather than historic houses.

Now that I have them in the game, I get the feeling I should throw some "less drab" ones into this set...

based on Passaic, NJ

image.png.c7a299ac5259f21d0aa466fb4a4ca567.png

as it stands, the pack reminds me a bit of squid world. lol

I think the R$ ones look great, personally. You could maybe have a little more variation in the paint colors (replacing one white and one beige model) or some slightly darker roofs? I'd keep those changes pretty subtle, and I'd aim to keep them roughly the same amount of drab. The colors on these ones look much more true to the game's palette.

I would add some with quite strong colours, San Francisco style, but maybe on other tileset. After all, it hasn't happened on real cities, but is plausible.
