If there is interest in the lot I will release it.

All I can say is that it pretty much blows the Maxis version out of the water! *:thumb: And it's sure something that hasn't been done so far (at least not to my knowledge). Should open up interesting possibilities for creative CJers, too. *:)

The Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Department of Geology of Cameran University have completed their geothermal gradient investigation of the Kingdom!

Presenting...

֍ KINGDOM OF ROTA ֎
GEOTHERMAL GRADIENT MAP

nwFBgvQ.jpg

Some notes:

* Geothermal gradient is the rate at which temperature rises as one digs deeper into the soil. Away from volcanic hot spots and tectonically active areas, these gradients range from 15 to 30 °C per kilometer of depth (43 to 86 °F per mile of depth).

* At volcanically active regions, this rate can be as much as ten times higher.

* Rocks, nor groundwater, have to be past boiling temperature to be useful for geothermal power, as systems using closed loop heat exchange can use liquids with much lower boiling points, like pentane, butane and ammonia.

* The Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Department of Geology of Cameran University recommend exploitation of these site categories for the following purposes:

     -  Geothermal gradients of at least 150 °C per kilometer (light yellow) for utility scale geothermal electricity.

     - Geothermal gradients from 100 to 150 °C per kilometer (dark yellow) for community scale geothermal electricity and/or utility scale district heating

     - Geothermal gradients from 75 to 100 °C per kilometer (orange) for community scale district heating and successful hot spring resorts

     - Geothermal gradients from 50 to 75 °C per kilometer (red) for small scale hot spring utilization and ground heat pumps

heaps and heaps of detail to add....this will be one for the maximalists. *:)

Well, I dunno if I count as a maximalist, but I do know that I appreciate additions to the Chicago 1890 tileset (into which this building fits perfectly IMO) because it seems to be the tileset with the least amount of content while it contains architectural styles that I happen to like very much. *:) I really dig the combination of multi-coloured brick and arched windows for some reason. Sometimes the result looks like an "urban mansion", sometimes almost industrial, but I almost always like it. Therefore, I'm looking forward to seeing progress on this one in particular! *:thumb:

This time I re-created Stonehenge as it was in 3600 BC (according to some archeologists). Also shown is the map I used to make the model.

If there is interest in the lot I will release it.

I have made some changes to the building (borne of necessity from trying to fit this into a W2W 16m environment) so it isn't a recreation. Most noticeable are the small front elevation which was the trickiest to fit into the SC4 grid, and the roof line, which on the real building is really awkward and, despite being pitched, made of tar paper :dead:.....

The Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Department of Climatology of Cameran University have completed their average wind speed investigation of the Kingdom!

Presenting...

֍ KINGDOM OF ROTA ֎
AVERAGE WIND SPEED
AT 80m HUB HEIGHT MAP

AgLraX6.jpg

Some notes about it:

* In general, sustained wind speeds of at least 7 meters per second / 25 km/h / 15 mph (m/s, corresponds to red, orange, yellow and light yellow) are considered appropriate for wind power facilities

* Small systems for private use (single or cluster of households) require these speeds at 30 meters / 100 ft above ground.

* Medium systems for community or private commercial/industrial/agricultural use require said speeds at around 50 meters / 165 ft above ground

* Large systems for utility scale use require said speeds at heights ranging from 70 to 110 meters (230 ft to 360 ft)

* Wind will tend to speed up at mountain ridges, very flat and open terrains, significant water bodies and/or downwind of isolated topographic features.

We strongly encourage our citizens to voice their opinion on the Kingdom's energy future!

Gorgeous NYC structures, Matt. I think there are some Upper East Side townhomes that also have your name on them!

Gorgeous!

These are wonderful even with the changes.  Sometimes things just won't work like we plan.
