Today a wider shot. A little progress, trying to use tramways for the first time

This looks great! I can't recall if someone made a diagonal tram stops, but they would certainly be useful in your little town. Also nice use of those diagonal residential homes.

Nice try, for the first time, dragable GLR for orthoginal there´s choice for white brick or rural for the diagonal I would use the rural dragble GLR getting rid of the zig-zag patern. Traffic wise GLR won´t be used if ther´re aren´as much intermediate stops as shown so opening up the diagonal section would benefit, connecting to the railway line aswell !

Agree. Grass is a great option too.

I hope by the time i finish the zigzags in diagonal section should be gone as i will place many fillers. I think you are right about extra stations though and i might also play with the grass version for the further suburbs. Thank you for your comments!

@Bipin That building in the top right corner has my attention ;)

It was for a secret project from last year I can't talk about that involved a certain local municipal government, but as you can see, I'm consider releasing it on the STEX and/or the LEX. ;) Still mulling over exactly what I can/should do with it though...

The only thing I find contradicts a sense of immersion in a virtual landscape in the NAM are the roundabouts, they stand out as representing a precision of geometry that doesn't exist in material reality.

Indeed, though they do happen in real life more than you might think. In any case, NAM certainly has come along way. I'm always impressed by it...!

Wow...

@Bipin what are those concrete RHW ramps? Where can I find them, or when will you released them? :);)

I will never release them to see the light of day. They will forever remain an artifact of your most cherished memories. Or maybe not...

Thank you! Try the parks menu. If not, the landmark or misc transit menus.

@MissVanleider Good stuff, I like the fillers between the diagonal tram and W2W residential, center left. Will this be an older town surrounded by industry, or a (relatively) newer streetcar suburb in the middle of the farms?

@Dreadnought that Grand Hyatt is something else, thanks for linking it! I have a collection of similar BATs in progress for the ultimate Garden City build.

@Eggman121 I am excited for all the layout possibilities opened up by L1 viaducts! Realistically sloped viaduct approaches are now half the length compared to L2, for example.

@CT14 thank you. they are @rsc204's sidewalk compatible fillers, the only ones I have used there are actually the 1x1 sidewalk with tree. The rest of it just matches because of his AutomagicallyTM Adapting technology, which is all over the road, the sidewalk, the GLR, everything! - You can see in the lower part the missing 1x1 tiles that I have not yet placed the fillers on for reference.

This is going to be part of a much older town, the traditional 'heart' of the city is to the North West from this perspective, along the 'real water' river. I imagine this area as a 'Victorian' era suburb from c. 1850-1920. The kind of area that I grew up in, perhaps became a little tired and unloved before becoming subject to gentrification in recent years. Beyond the industry you can see to the right of the image is a more significant industrial area which is slowly becoming finished. Then there is a highway / city 'by-pass'. Beyond it, farm fields, lots of hills and a mmp river. One day I will post a proper CJ entry.

@Mary Maurine Mayo Looks nice, but I will say one thing. You had a nice model w/ the Sim Mars Version but it was MASSIVELY undersized. I think you might want to try scaling this one up a bit more than the SimMars Version.

@Simmer2 That's very cool. The texturing on the Roundhouse looks particularly great. Can't wait for this.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Yo, guys --

I have been working on altering some of the building lots in the game from CO $$$ into CO $$, CS $$$, and CS $$.

Sometimes you need a massive skyscraper in just the right place in your city.  Unfortunately, the one you like the best is not suited to the restrictions of the RCI graphs.  If you plop that beautiful piece of architecture -- it will put your CO $$$ column of the graph "into the red", so to speak.  Or, maybe it is a functional landmark -- which might be OK if it doesn't effect the RCI graph  -- but will probably raise your job count without actually providing jobs to your population, thereby throwing your job count and employment levels out of whack.  Hence the conversion of lots to more useful employment categories.

Below is a custom lot I came across in my custom content "grab-bag" of uninstalled downloads.  The building has been lotted as High Tech $$$.

My question is -- has anyone used this lot?

If you have built it in one of your cities, do you get contradictory information from the building query function (school rating, commute time, etc) and the query cursor that tells you how many drive cars, ride the subway, etc ??  I'm getting readings that say I have a building full of workers, but when I check to see how they get to work, it tells me there are no workers.

This is not a function of population -- or distance to work.  Surrounding buildings are full, and the population outnumbers the workforce 3-1.  This is the only building that has this problem.

I'm puzzled as to why ??

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

In the growable version of this lot there are no exemplar property entries for either capacity satisfied or demand created.  In the ploppable version there is only capacity satisfied 4000 decimal.   Amenities are not represented.  So the only programmable variable I can see represented is the cap for high tech.  High tech is only $$$.  The general effect should be afaik is to increase HT cap.

That fabric-like texture was interesting maybe more so for the Mars project.  Stretching fabrics is probably the practical way to engineer space habitats.
