Well, I've finished one variation. Time to make a buncha liveries :]

It's also my first completed BAT (and my 2nd attempt at BATing ever). Not gonna make an actual BAT thread unless I really get into it.

I'm also considering doing billboards.

90, 45, and 22.5 (L & R) variations - scaled approximately with jes's intermodal trucks.

I see you used Automatic LOD. That could be an issue with the diagonal ones. They could obstruct some props if you put them close to each other.

@ KonstantinII: Don't worry - the blue box in the Lot Editor doesn't necessarily show the actual LOD. For example, if you have a building with an "L"-shaped LOD, it will still be represented by the usual blue box in the Lot Editor. The LE simply doesn't represent the exact LOD footprint, just a simple rectangle the size of which is determined by maximum X/Y dimensions of the LOD.

As you can see in the picture, the blue boxes overlap heavily in some places, yet the props are displayed perfectly.

@ Mushy Mushy: Wow, I hadn't noticed these if Konstantin hadn't quoted them! Very good work, especially since these trucks are white, and white is hard to get right. Are you planning to make some texture variations, too? <= scratch that, I've read your original post in the meantime - great news! We can always use generic trucks. :)

@ __A: Great bridges! :golly: Gotta love the MMP trail under them, too. :)

You're probably going to leave them as is, but just as a little suggestion I'd like to mention that the railway ramp looks somewhat artificial to me. One solution would be to have the bridge span a bit more land before it ends so you don't need to extend the ramp that far towards the river. Or you could terraform around the ramp a bit to make it look more natural. You see, a rocky cliff of this exact shape and size would be suspiciously convenient and symmetrical for a natural feature, and as an artificial ramp, it wouldn't be all solid rock (and it would probably not be able to keep its shape with such a steep slope). Anyway, I love it when someone knows how to showcase a bridge, and you certainly do. Keep it up!

Also, some mmp rocks or similar on the side of the ramps could help a lot. :)

Thank you. Yeah I don't think I'll be demolishing it but I do understand what you mean. I don't usually make bridges like these so I thought I'd give it a go and now the next time I do it I'll follow your suggestion. Thanks again :D

krenemo, that`s some pretty cool road layout. Also love the variations in zoning,i wonder what will grow on the 2x5 zonings at the bottom of the picture.

Okay guys, this is what i`m currently working on.Well,it is more of a poking and plopping thing and i`m cursing the whole day long.I just can`t get this spot right.

Currently i`m working at the Hell`s Kitchen Waterfront Area with all those piers and that stupid spaghetti ramp junk that`s rising next to the avenue and connect the piers.

I want to build it with elevated road ramps and the straight pieces, but unfortunately there is no transition between 7,5m and 15m Elevated Roads.

Also, the bare ground beneath the ramps is bugging me like hell.I`m close to let a meteor drop in that area or plop an unmaintained nuclear power plant right in the middle of it and let everything burn down....

Maybe you have some useful advice for me (may it be better ideas or alternatives what else to do with that ramp area.

Another thing where i become desperate is that area next to the smooth avenue curve. In real life it is supposed to be filled with a park, but there aren`t any overhanging park lots that fit next to smooth avenues and MMP`s don`t fit next to it.I can`t get them to plop on the tiles barely used by the smooth avenue.

Maybe some overhanging/offset MMP would help (something more shrubby and grass)

Any advice and ideas (including plugin recommendations maybe?)

Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks, and the 2x5 will grow into appartments, i use some SOMY mods that fit in 2x5,4x4, 1x4,and 6x6...also wit hthe smooth curve, you could plop some regular pars as close as you can and use the god mode tree tool, or the mayor mod tree tool and paint some trees or shrubs in the spots...not sure if that works exactly since i havent done anything like that myself...

@ Hotwheeler: I'm rather puzzled of why you are building these overpasses in the first place. They look rather pointless to me, since there is an avenue right next to them and I don't even see a reason to build an overpass/bridge there.

BTW, how did you get that concrete texture below the overpass, anyway? I've been searching long for a way to get textures below underpasses and maybe railway viaducts. If it's because of an overhanging lot: Make sure that the terrain at the avenue next to the trees is perfectly even; perhaps this messes everything up (although I'm really not sure, it's just a vague idea.)

For both the overpasses and the FAR avenue, I have two links for you. The homepage is in Japanese, so you might want to read a thread on simpeg.com to get to know what they do. One plugin simply places textures on the free space of the FAR avenue that you cant't place anything upon.

If you want to place MMP's there: Visit the LEX and look for the content of Girafe. He has uploaded various trees that are sometimes offset (as far as I know, there's even a set of shrubs). It takes a while to get used to them but that would solve this problem. There are too many plugins to post links here, but try to search for "BSC VIP Girafe ..." (replace ... by oaks, beeches, birches, etc.) and you might get a result quite soon.

Thanks guys for all the good advice. As for the ramps:this area has in real life some very similar elevaded roads that connect the parking garages with each other without interfering with the main traffic on the abenue.Actually i think this construction looks pretty weird in RL.While writing this, i came up with another idea that both eliminates those odd el roads and serves NYCs hunger for more parking space.I will fill the ramp area with modular parking garages. This might be my last straw, but i guess it sounds better than all that other junk i already tried.

As for Girafes MMPs, i wil have a look at them when i'm home from work...

BTW, that concrete texture under the el roads are just the beach textures from the terrainmod i used.It blends in very well with the cracked concrete textures that many industrial lots have as a base texture.

I love how these 2 one-way roads in the upper picture converge to an avenue and how you used this spot to add a little park. :)

Why not for Paeng's Grunge Concrete by Murimk and replace the single lots with them, they should extend under the bridge quite nicely?

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

A small town in a metro area I've started to lay out. The building under the "Stadt Keri" is the city hall and the "AD. Keri A2" stands for Autobahn-Dreieck which is German for Motorway-Triangle, although only one motorway is represented. I see it as a "Dreieck" because it parts in three directions compared to just on and off ramps.

This is a WIP post apocalyptic image based off of image I posted earlier.

I'm only about 10 hours into the editing process and I can see it taking at least 15 more...

Things left to do:

  • "Weathering" the buildings (Only done this to like 4 of them so far... :] )
  • Add piles of cars/various debris
  • Add more foliage (bushes, shrubs, etc) around the highway
  • Add cars sunken in the muddy water in the underpass
  • Add some minor fog effects
  • Desaturate the image some

kk922Sn.jpg

I know it's something different... but that's a good thing, right?

And yes, I played The Last of Us too much.
