After spending a day to re-watch Haljackey's 'Building A City From Scratch' series (for the second time, once when the episodes were coming out), I really want to (and need to!) install SimCity 4 on my new laptop. Excited to build some cool interchanges

This one took me a few hours to build. This used to be a simple cloverleaf:

That's like the size of my full city centre . Well, that's what happens when one makes a city on a montanious island, you have to keep everything very small and cars have to move really slow on highways.

That's a cool interchange. If you let me, I have a few tips to make it better. 

Yellow circles: You may want a express-collector paradigm in that section (in fact, you should use in all of that intersection). what is now creates a unnecessary weaving that cannot be ignored creating a bottleneck.

Red Circles: If you decide to follow the first tip, that one will be easy

Green circle: There's a FAR piece for that approach without losing lanes, I think it's the last one. Here's an Example from Haljackey:

Orange Circle: You may want to use that piece here too. Find I way to connect that two RHW-4 in a RHW-6.

This is my most successful attempt so far at creating a compact threeway interchange. It could probably be a bit tighter still, but seeing as how it is located in the countryside, it doesn't have to be super-compact.

By the way, is there any way of creating a custom tree controller? Or a tree controller with the similar trees to the ones I'm using here? Because planting all the trees took about as long as building the actual interchange...

I created another interchange this afternoon. I'm thinking I'll build a large city to the north and west of it.

I cheated a little bit and used subway tunnel lots for the west-north and west-east connections, because I couldn't find room for them. I had already built a threeway interchange, when I decided to expand it and add the western route, so I worked with what I had. It might be possible to squeeze in the W-N connection, but the W-E connection would require substantial rebuilding to add properly. Overall, I'm happy with the design now, so I probably won't bother.

I did just realize that there is no E-W connection. I might add that, although I'm not sure quite where yet...

@JohnAJ those interchanges look nice . May I ask what highway Signage you are using ? About the E-W connection , I can't count how many times I've had the same situation , it just happens sometimes . I call it "Sometimers" . 

@simonvangenderen Wow , I have yet to take on that kind of interchange , I think it looks really nice .

Thank you! I use the Ontario Signage Set. By the way, I did add an E-W connection today that fit in pretty nicely.

New interchange between Avenida Metropolitana and Via Expressa Jayme Costa. Avenida Metropolitana was recently upgraded to a Ave-4 from OWR-4, doubling its capacity, but the original accesses creating a cloverleaf was maintained for cost saving.

The mall? I queried it and it says 'Custom Ploppable', not really that informative

Here's a screenshot of the building in the landmarks tab

-It also shows a ramp I 'hacked' into a AVE-6. It's relevant to this thread as it shows you can have an exit on one side with turning lanes in the middle. It all functions well!

New Interchange at the A1/A2 Junction.  A201 is a new ring road that runs around the west side of the city.  Well it took 10 years (simtime) and its about 10 years old now.  Full access is being considered, but this is good for now.

Highway A301 needed to go through, but continued as a B highway (B320) Not fully functional, but thats how it developed.  

Im working on a grid system, but for the first time in 12 years of playing, Im numbering and naming all my streets and highways.
