In my region (1M+) I am finally working on getting some cities up to 200k+ but around 170-180k the land value all of a sudden goes south everywhere, mostly around traffic congestion and air pollution, but my HT and expensive R and C all leave and it happens very suddenly. Is there anything I can do, here's what I've done; Bus stops everywhere, Sub Stops, Reduce air pollution Tax Dirty Industry out Promote industrial rail use plant trees everywhere. Thanks for your help.

Land Value goes way down at 175K+
PlannerTide replied to PlannerTide's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It happened again last night. I was redesigning an area (large map) original population around 150,000. Then it got up to near 170,000, next thing I know the population plummeted to 120,000 and almost all the HT industry abandoned and / or turned in to dirty. Again, clicked on land value and it was splotchy green and red instead of almost all green like it was earlier in the game. I'm trying to figure if it's something I plopped that has this adverse affect but I since I saw it happened I bulldozed almost everything I had plopped in the last 2 or 3 minutes to no avail. Any more advice? -

I just set the Dirty Tax to 10.5% or higher and then go demolish the ultra bad polluters. Garbage is under control though. -

Possible to remove the road connection requirement?
PlannerTide replied to Huaojozu's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
You can use the NAM pedestrian mall pieces sometimes. For Commercial yes, for residential not usually. -

For traffic, I defer to others with more Traffic experience. However, I also suggest UDI missions that give positive Mayor Ratings, because those tend to increase Land Value. Good luck~!quote> Thanks for the quick response, my mayor rating and desireability are off the chart positive. Only land value and air pollution are suffering. -

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
PlannerTide replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I have a question, I DLed the RHW and I love it first off. However, do you HAVE to use the RHW starter piece or can you just begin dragging the highway. I didn't use the starter and it appears to operate and path fine. I dragged off an existing avenue. Am I playing with fire or is all good. Also, on exit ramps, I haven't figured out how to transition into a road or OWR easily, any suggestions?- 3,919 Replies

Where has everyone gotten that sweet looking white concrete retaining walls for sunken highways and the overhead signs with white lattice? -
great city names for the newbie city namer!
PlannerTide replied to borntoboogie's topic in SC4 Showcase
I always name my cities alphabetically in a region so I have sort of a time line of what was built when. Current Region = Avalon Coast (aka Northern California) -Asheville -Brighton -Clevegas -Daniels Beach -Fairmont
