  1. By OP "All I want is to build myself a UK village or town of my own design. Nothing more. I don’t want any finance, utilities and I don’t want it to build it for me (auto) as it’s doing and then telling me that a building is on fire, or I need water or showing those "problem" icons above buildings I didn't ask for. I don’t want a population I just want a model village with my own trees, cars and uk type houses" You can have most every thing you ask for but you may have to subscribe to some workshop to get it. With the right mods, You can cancel out any financing, utilities, water & electric lines, fire, and abandoned buildings. You can even layout the city infrastructure (roads and streets) while showing a 0 population. In fact that is exactly how I start ALL my cities. I've never tried building houses while maintaining a 0 population but you might take a look at using R.I.C.O. and/or Procedural Objects.
  2. First thing I would do is go to Main Menu/Content Manager/Mods/ and turn "unlimited money" ON. If you turn it off again while in game you will likely go immediately into bankruptcy, so Never turn it off. Now go back and start a new game and run it. Then immediatly save the game giving it a name like cspc 1 play for a minute or two and save the game using cspc 1a. Continue playing and saving with new name until you tire of the game or get yourself in trouble. If you got yourself in trouble try to fix it. If you are successful save your repaired game with a new name such as cspc 2 If you can not fix the game quite the game without saving it. Then reopen the last working cspc 1 version. When you've got a good idea of what you can and can not do, what will and will not work, and a clearer picture of what sort of design layout you are going for you can go back and turn the unlimited money mod off and start the learning process all over again.
  3. City limits

How do you transition going from land to water ?
  4. Very old post I know, but the thought seems to still apply. Regardless who you intrust with creative credit Paradox, CO, Valve, Steam, CS all suck primarily on the sam tit. They all use each other as chess pawns and no one accepts responsibility for anything. As everyone knows there is no such thing as Customer Service to be found anywhere in the pile of BS that is associated in any way with Colossal Order.
  5. What influences RCI?

    Primarily a need for jobs.
  6. Not wearing a flea collar when visiting the steam operated discussions.
  7. Is the DLC worth it?

No DLC is worth it. That said I went on to buy After Dark Mass Transit and Industries any way. That said some of the DLC's are SO NOT worth it that I bought three when I could have got all of them at once for free.
  8. How Do You Combat Burnout?

I use the street maps I've created with CS to help me with my business which means I am pretty much continuously modifying the city infrastructure. So for me I don't really have time to burn out.
  9. I use metro as the primary and in most cases the ONLY passenger connection between airport, industry, residential and tourism. Makes it MUCH MUCH easier to control and minimise traffic issues.
  10. You either have a broken connection or more likely are over producing. It's a very thin line between not supplying enough goods and supplying to many goods. And it can be effected by any number of things. In your case I suspect it comes down to the fact that in adding the intersections you inadvertently made it much easier to export goods. The AI would read this as overproducing and immediately assign all your vehicles to exporting goods in an attempt to rebalance the supply chain. Not a bad thing overall but it could be a bit of a problem to rectify. You could try building a dedicated direct road connecting your Industrial and commercial areas or you could try rerouting your cargo rail distribution line. Or you could try relocating your industry and commercial closer to each other. If it were me however I just go ahead and subscribe to the "Infinite Goods" mod. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725555912&searchtext=infinite+goods Your game your choice.
  11. Help with industry

It's very possible but IMO not very realistic. In fact I always build the industry first for two reasons. One it's the excuse I use for building a city and two it's much easier to layout the cargo distribution system.
  12. Minimum population for metro?

I build my metro in a 120u grid design and find that its much easier to do if I do it before I even layout the city streets. So I lay out the metro grid while I still have a 0 population. You should do it however it's easiest for you.
  13. Population and money levels

I find that the "Set your own Start Money" mod ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=855704599&searchtext=set+your+own+start ) works very well for me.
  14. "how to generate a city without highways"? Sure. Just use airport or train to bring citizens in. Little more complicated than highways but very doable never te less.
  15. Paradox Interviewed Avanya!

Thanks. Seeing body language explains a great deal.
  16. There are a number of very cute videos out. There's really no substitute for experience however. It can be quite confusing to play according to traditional guide lines. I highly recommend you start out by learning what you can and can not do in the map editor first. This can save you a lot of back tracking when you try to actually play the game. Second I recommend you activate the unlimited money mod that comes with the base game. That far better will let you explore your design technique without having to worry about money and experiencing premature bankruptcy, starting out. Then contrary to popular advice I suggest you don't worry too much about trying to repair mistakes. Concentrate instead on trying to avoid making the same mistake over and over again.
  17. Just like driving in Sacramento, Ca at rush hour. Be in the far right lane three exits back and be first in line to go at the red light. Second in line will require three light changes.
  18. Not to be a smart ass but what if they could? So What? You can not completely occupy 81 tiles now. My computer only has 32Gb Ram but that's plenty for the 81 tile maps. Thing is I can't begin to occupy all 81 tiles. It's not because I'm running out of memory. I have plenty memory left. It's because of the game limits. The game its self just simply can't handle it and stops working. But for the sake of argument let's say it could be made to work. They do away with the game limits and they double the number of tiles. You go out and build a computer with 2 Tb of Ram that uses a car radiator for cooling. You teach Corina or what ever her name is to play CS and fill in the really tedious parts and eventually end up filling all 324 tiles. Others find out about it and three months later everyone is building cities with gazillion size populations. What have you got? Everyone is using the bottom of coke bottles for glasses and we all have carpel tunnel. And predictably here it comes. Some one from the middle of no where signs in and asks " IS that all there is? Can't we make it any bigger?
  19. Build however you like. The thing about DLC Industry is that many of the buildings are redundant. That is a crop of oranges will ship to and supply the same goods to the same facilities as a crop of wheat. So cows pigs and sheep will all eat either oranges or wheat or pears or potatoes and oranges can be used to produce flour for bread. By the same token cows, pigs, or sheep can all be used to create leather goods or ice cream. So for a small farm you could have the main building, one small apple orchard and one milking parlor.
  20. If you're using DLC Industries (Which I recommend and DO ALL the time every time) then screw the budget screen. It doesn't really apply to the DLC. DLC Industry profits are not based on budget numbers or the tax schedule. In Oil; The 30,664 figure under Total Profits is all you need be concerned with.
  21. Population limit?

Sounds like you're playing a 81 tile map. Try it on a 9 tile map if you want to go to 1.04 mil Otherwise go to 25 tiles and a 450k - 600k pop count.
  22. Outside connections help

If your up for mods you'll also want to get the Cross the Line mod. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=498386331&searchtext=cross+the+line
  23. Help an old boy to start

Yes you can, BUT you will need to use a few workshop mods to get what you want. You can start the game without mods but will need them if you want to remove utilities and finances and the like. I could walk you through it but we'd need to be in Cities Skylines
  24. You'll find managing your mods and creating the layout for your collections both much easier to do if you subscribe to the "Mods Listing" mod in workshop. This will allow you to create, update and save a list of all your activated and unactivated mods, assets and themes. Haven't been here long enough to know how to provide a link or I would. try this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=588691634&searchtext=mods+listing
  25. Why bother. The game will run just fine if they ALL die off and you can't go over 1.04 mil any way. If you think about it there's no reason to care what the population count is.
