City Skylines, Absolute beginner Gone wrong
csSniper replied to ohdearme's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
By OP "All I want is to build myself a UK village or town of my own design. Nothing more. I don’t want any finance, utilities and I don’t want it to build it for me (auto) as it’s doing and then telling me that a building is on fire, or I need water or showing those "problem" icons above buildings I didn't ask for. I don’t want a population I just want a model village with my own trees, cars and uk type houses" You can have most every thing you ask for but you may have to subscribe to some workshop to get it. With the right mods, You can cancel out any financing, utilities, water & electric lines, fire, and abandoned buildings. You can even layout the city infrastructure (roads and streets) while showing a 0 population. In fact that is exactly how I start ALL my cities. I've never tried building houses while maintaining a 0 population but you might take a look at using R.I.C.O. and/or Procedural Objects. -
How do I build my first city?
csSniper replied to FalconX's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
First thing I would do is go to Main Menu/Content Manager/Mods/ and turn "unlimited money" ON. If you turn it off again while in game you will likely go immediately into bankruptcy, so Never turn it off. Now go back and start a new game and run it. Then immediatly save the game giving it a name like cspc 1 play for a minute or two and save the game using cspc 1a. Continue playing and saving with new name until you tire of the game or get yourself in trouble. If you got yourself in trouble try to fix it. If you are successful save your repaired game with a new name such as cspc 2 If you can not fix the game quite the game without saving it. Then reopen the last working cspc 1 version. When you've got a good idea of what you can and can not do, what will and will not work, and a clearer picture of what sort of design layout you are going for you can go back and turn the unlimited money mod off and start the learning process all over again. -

Have CO lost touch with what players want?
csSniper replied to barcasam7's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Very old post I know, but the thought seems to still apply. Regardless who you intrust with creative credit Paradox, CO, Valve, Steam, CS all suck primarily on the sam tit. They all use each other as chess pawns and no one accepts responsibility for anything. As everyone knows there is no such thing as Customer Service to be found anywhere in the pile of BS that is associated in any way with Colossal Order. -
Primarily a need for jobs.

What’s the Stupidest Decision You Made in Cities: Skylines?
csSniper replied to MatthewTNT79's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Not wearing a flea collar when visiting the steam operated discussions. -
No DLC is worth it. That said I went on to buy After Dark Mass Transit and Industries any way. That said some of the DLC's are SO NOT worth it that I bought three when I could have got all of them at once for free.

How Do You Combat Burnout?
csSniper replied to masochist's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I use the street maps I've created with CS to help me with my business which means I am pretty much continuously modifying the city infrastructure. So for me I don't really have time to burn out. -
Transpotartion to Industrial and Office areas
csSniper replied to zeremene's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I use metro as the primary and in most cases the ONLY passenger connection between airport, industry, residential and tourism. Makes it MUCH MUCH easier to control and minimise traffic issues. -
Industry doesn't sell goods after building custom intersections, what happened?
csSniper replied to joaoarthur's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
You either have a broken connection or more likely are over producing. It's a very thin line between not supplying enough goods and supplying to many goods. And it can be effected by any number of things. In your case I suspect it comes down to the fact that in adding the intersections you inadvertently made it much easier to export goods. The AI would read this as overproducing and immediately assign all your vehicles to exporting goods in an attempt to rebalance the supply chain. Not a bad thing overall but it could be a bit of a problem to rectify. You could try building a dedicated direct road connecting your Industrial and commercial areas or you could try rerouting your cargo rail distribution line. Or you could try relocating your industry and commercial closer to each other. If it were me however I just go ahead and subscribe to the "Infinite Goods" mod. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725555912&searchtext=infinite+goods Your game your choice. -
It's very possible but IMO not very realistic. In fact I always build the industry first for two reasons. One it's the excuse I use for building a city and two it's much easier to layout the cargo distribution system.

Minimum population for metro?
csSniper replied to Somnolence's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I build my metro in a 120u grid design and find that its much easier to do if I do it before I even layout the city streets. So I lay out the metro grid while I still have a 0 population. You should do it however it's easiest for you. -
Population and money levels
csSniper replied to Hermitismyname's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
I find that the "Set your own Start Money" mod ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=855704599&searchtext=set+your+own+start ) works very well for me.- 4 Replies
