Can I play CSL with my MacBook pro
Judazzz replied to Yawdie's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Things obviously look much crisper/sharper on a 4K screen, even on a 15.6" one (noticeable with text, but video's look better/more detailed too, as do game graphics), but I agree not having one is by no means a deal-breaker. The reason I ultimately went for the 100 euro upgrade from 1080p to 4K was that the 4K panel scored better in the color accuracy/contrast/brightness benchmarks than the 1080p one (which is meaningful for an amateur photographer like me). Of much less importance - but a still nice touch - is that upgrade also swapped the DVD RW for a Blu Ray RW drive. -
Judazzz' C:SL Goodies - Update: American Roadsigns v2.0.0 (complete overhaul)
Judazzz replied to Judazzz's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
@Bipin I'd love to include your gantry signs (single and double) as available models, because they are easily the best in the Workshop! What I'd basically need is a .crp of the model and the separate texture files in .png format (the main texture should be empty, as in no text, decals, etc.), so I don't think that would take much time. The .crp and textures would then be included in the mod (so there's always a textured prop to fall back on), and with the in-game panel a gantry model can be selected and the main texture replaced with a custom one. Ultimately I want to create a 'dev kit' with .png main texture templates, a .png containing decals (stuff like highway/route shields, arrows, info shields like 'Exit Only', etc.) and the Highway Gothic font, so people have all they need to create their own textures, which they can then use to override the text-/decal-free default texture in-game. I'm currently still working on the GUI and logic (well, I just got started), and have a lot of real-world stuff going on as well, so don't feel rushed! Oh, and many thanks for letting me use your signs - stuff just got as lot more interesting!!! -

Same here, but yes, most definitely! I actually just started working on a GUI for a texture selection panel, so it would be nice to have something to texture -

That's actually a pretty good idea, and shouldn't be too hard to implement as a global setting (one toggle to remove either all, or a selection [like all speed limits] of signs, or separate toggles for each sign - what do you think?), as I'm already removing specific props from specific road types (manhole covers from highways, for example). I'll see what I can do, thanks for the suggestion! -

Can you use Move It! in the Asset Editor? And if so, are changes in position and rotation persistent? It's too bad props included in assets are 'locked' once in-game, ie. non-removable and inaccessible for tools such as Move It! -
Can I play CSL with my MacBook pro
Judazzz replied to Yawdie's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Well, I don't own any Macs, but I'm still pretty proud of my 0.85" thick, 2.3kg laptop with 4K screen and a GTX1070 GPU Okay, 'proud' may technically not be the correct term, but I think most people know what's implied by saying so (not proud as in 'e-penis enhancing', but proud as in pleased to be the lucky/happy owner of such a device, or perhaps even being proud of the sacrifice I made by accepting that for the next 6 months I can only afford to buy dry bread and water ). -
Yesterday after I was done fiddling with one of my mods I forgot to enable a few settings in the Loading Screen mod (I always use it to disable custom assets to speed up loading times, while still being able to keep all mods active - it's basically -disableAssets [as opposed to the existing -disableMods parameter]), and the results were, well....quite telling Normal view: View without custom assets: I guess denying that I have a serious Workshop addiction is pointless

Learning asset creation - American House
Judazzz replied to barcasam7's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
No rush on your 1x1 LC building mate, it's a little gem as it is already! Love the new billboard, btw: is it going to be a prop? If so, it should be possible to make it so that players can apply their own custom textures in-game (that requires a mod, but the Billboard Animator already shows that there are ways to do so). -
Judazzz' C:SL Goodies - Update: American Roadsigns v2.0.0 (complete overhaul)

Yeah, managing those road side props per segment would be nice, but I think that would add a lot of bloat to this mod (that is more Network Skins territory). Besides that, this mod will focus more on road sign management - the current toggles were basically my tutorial into C:SL modding, so that functionality remains rather crude (just a quick way to localize road signs and toggle a few props on a global level). The non-highway road signs (speed limits, no turn signs, etc.) are replaced by different props, so in theory this mod could be used to replace those info terminals and other road side props with better ones. I can't model however, so I have to work with what's available in the Workshop (and I haven't really found any viable alternatives to the current props). -
SamsamTS mods. New mod: Find It!

That is awesome, hopefully it helps me with my occasional struggle to create decent entrances/exits. Love how it auto-unsubs SJA and seamlessly integrates with Fine Road Tool if installed - imo. it's details like this separates the truly great modders from the 'mere' great ones! -

It's just a little update of the Roadsigns mod - if you have it, you'll find the new options in the mod options panel (manhole cover and roadside props are enabled by default). -

Interchange assets - adding custom props
Judazzz replied to wojtason's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
I think they are a separate sub-category within the prop 'family' - are normal props like industrial ones or billboards available (I've never created an interchange in the editor)? Also: do you use More Beautification (the mod that allows you to plop props in-game)? Perhaps that one can make the prop panels as well as custom props available for interchange in the asset editor?- 6 Replies

It took me a while to rediscover my own thread, but I've finally gotten back into working on my mods. The first upload is an updated version of American RoadSigns (currently v.1.0.4), which does two things: - it fixed a bug that prevented the removal of manhole covers on highways/ramps, elevated roads and bridges to work properly; - it added 5 new settings to hide those annoying road side props (5 props can be disabled separately: electricity boxes, fire hydrants, info terminals, parking meters and random street props [whatever that is]). And now that base functionality is pretty much covered, it's time to move on to the next step: custom road signs and road sign textures. Hopefully my next update won't take as long as this one did -

Thanks for the explanation, Lee! In general I love the color variations system, and I don't really mind the ones that have wonky colors (I simply re-plop/grow until it spawns in a color I like). But I figured I just make mention of it. -

Love it, there's a serious lack of high-quality 1x1 assets for this game, so I'm glad you're filling in some gaps! One thing I noticed: it seems color variations affect the entire building, from facades and walls to roofing material etc. (ie. the red color variety is basically completely red). I'm no modeler and I haven't seen the textures, (so correct me if I'm speaking total gibberish ), but iirc. the color map should only contain those area's that you want to be affected by color variants (so in your case basically only the walls, but not the roof). btw: I've noticed this happening with the work of some other asset creators as well (I think a few of KingLeno's grungy low density commercial buildings suffer from the same thing, for example), so don't feel to bad - in fact, feel free to ignore my comments completely if you have more important things to do -
I just kind of rediscovered the isometric view of the First Person Mod (and man it looks good [well, apart from the LOD distance]), so I happily snapped away screenshots, including a few that contain (parts of) interchanges:

Peeling paint certainly would do the trick, just as more grunge on the walls and roofing material (stains, moss, cracks). Maybe enclosing the front yards with crappy wooden fences can also add to the visuals, as do a few props here and there (trash, kid's toys, low-quality lawn furniture, grease-stained sofa's - I mean, Deplorable Dave needs a place to sip his low-grade beer - oh, that reminds me: empty beer cans decal props) Once again gorgeous little houses, btw. - can't wait to treat my lower class to these new digs!

Network Skins (Coming 2016)
Judazzz replied to boformer's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Wouldn't it be better to use an approach à la Billboard Animator mod (I like the idea of Mark-a-Route, but I don't like the road signs it uses), where you can select road signs that are auto-placed by the game as well as ploppable road sign template props (one for each type of sign), and then choose a locally stored, custom texture that will be applied to it? This would allow any player to create their own textures based on the template prop and use them in-game, share them in the Workshop, etc. For highway signs especially this would be nice, as everyone could create his/her own exit signs that display their own district names and road numbers. Ideally this should all be done in-game (with a texture creator tool) to make it usable for as many players as possible, but creating them in a photo editor and copy them to a local folder that is read by the mod when loading your city (so they are available in an in-game 'Road sign texture selection' panel) would also work. The above is actually something I've been considering (and experimenting with) for my American RoadSigns mod, but I'm not sure if my knowledge is sufficient to pull it off (if I manage to find enough time to begin with...) -
Dreamix's vehicles

Awesome set of wheels! Any chance you could also release them as civilian versions? I think I have at least 3 or 4 different vehicles per emergency category already (which should be enough for my departments, given the budget cuts I subject them to ), but I would love to see these cars drive around my city.- 30 Replies

This is gonna be so awesome! What is the tris count per block? It looks like it's going to be massive, so I think that should give you room to splurge in some area's
