I don't know if this has already been asked before, but would it be possible to add photos to the "liked content" page like previous versions of Simtropolis?
Is that how the real building will look like? The roof is strangely angled. The top and the base looks interestingly unreal. I will not rate this yet.
Kendiecasttsoi, 7 WTC has been completed for 5 years now. Just google it. This is a very accurate recreation of it.

Well, a while back, I created a city and didn't put much thought into the future of it. However, I kept playing the city and before I knew it, I had a population of 140,000. The city has a somewhat dense downtown, but the majority of the city is suburban. I do have bus stations here and there, but they are basically randomly plopped. Very little planning went into the bus network. So, I just want to know how your bus network is set up. Is it merely a matter of plopping bus stations around town? Or is there a method that works most effectively?

I've never kept them. They look too unrealistic. Instead, I use gas stations from the STEX. I, however, don't like the Maxis commercial buildings either. Especially the $$$ buildings.

Metropolis replied to MandelSoft's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Here's some pretty interesting ones: Albany, NY Bronx, NY And some from Texas: Dallas: Houston: -
Well they are intersections. Nobody said they have to be roundabouts.

I saw these houses a little while ago but of course, now that I want them, I can't seem to find them. The houses I'm looking for are those that line the street and the houses on the corner of the intersection with their own little street This photo is from Cubby420 over at SC4Devotion

A Fight on New York's Skyline
Metropolis replied to diamonddog_74's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
To me, the building design is ok. Not the most magnificent building but definitely not the worst looking building. My problem is it's location. How can they build that next to the Empire State Building? Imagine building a huge glass box right next to the Eiffel Tower. Or building a shiny new bridge right next to Golden Gate. The Empire State Building is New York's most iconic tower. Building that big of a building right down the street is, in my opinion, a horrible idea. -
That's interesting. I've never had that problem before. You say you are running the game smoothly? What system do you have? Over the summer, I built a new rig and my game does not run very well on it. It's like I'm playing the game on a system that does not meet the recommended specifications. My system, however, is far from the recommended specs. I have: Windows 7 intel Core i7 930 processor 6gb performance RAM nVidia GTX470 GPU Is it possible that my system is "too good" to run the game smoothly? Oh yea, I run the game at 1680x1050 on a 22" monitor.

Are there two 90 degree pieces? One larger and one smaller? When I created it with the 90 degree pieces I have, the 180 degree turn is far to big to be the one it io_bg's picture. In my picture, there is 6 tiles between each lane. In io_bg's picture, it looks like there's only 2, maybe 3 tiles between each lane.

Ok, I can't find this 180 degree curve anywhere in my game! I have the May 2010 NAM and the RHW that came with it. Where can I find this curve? Thanks! By the way, io_bg, this looks great. I wish I had the same creative ability as you!

Bad performance on brand new custom computer
Metropolis posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hey fellow simmers. I recently built a new computer. Here are my specs: intel Core i7 930 processor @2.80 GHz (quad core) 6gb Crucial Performance RAM nVidia GeForce GTX 470 500GB HDD I am playing on a 22" widescreen monitor and want to play at 1680x1050. In a medium sized city, the game lags a lot and whenever I move the mouse, its not a smooth transition like on my old computer. Now, I move the mouse and the city moves, stops, moves, stops, moves, etc... I don't understand how a brand new computer (a pretty good one may I add) can't handle this game. Do any of you have any tips? Anything like command lines parameters or anything? Help is much appreciated. -
Bad performance on brand new custom computer
Metropolis replied to Metropolis's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
SC4BOY, I think I solved my problem. I set the parameter cpucount=# to 4. This resulted in a laggy, choppy game also. So, I set the cpucount=# to 1 and the game runs really smoothly now. Thanks for helping me out. -

Bad performance on brand new custom computer
Metropolis replied to Metropolis's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Currently, I'm not using any command lines. I have the latest nVidia drivers and I am using DirectX11. Though I should have all previous versions installed also. Right? I'll have to try software instead of hardware. Yes, all my settings are "set by application". My problems arise when I move the screen over a populated area. When I move off to unpopulated areas (forest), the game gets much smoother. I understand that there will be a difference, but it shouldn't be this bad. I do have a lot of downloadable content but as I said, my other older system ran the game much smoother. Maybe its a result of the 1680x1050 resolution? -

Here's a hospital that I recently found https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=19996 Has a capacity of 30,000 patients and its a great looking hospital.

Wow io_bg, I love the look of your city! It looks so realistic. In the top left of the second picture, where did you get those white buildings that are part of the complex?
