Currently a landmark version with no jobs, costs $110000. Also a growable CO$$$, stage 8, 2650 jobs, but it doesn't seem to grow (not in my cities, don't know why..) This is Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen's entry to famous Chicago Tribune building competition in 1922. He won only the second place, so this one was never built in real world. (Howells'& Hood's neo-gothic design won). However, Saarinen's ideas of massing and use of vertical and horisontallines has a great influence on later skyscraper desing in USA. Maybe the most important work of Saarinen is the Helsinki Railway station. After competition Saarinen and his family moved to USA. Eliel's son,Eero became also an important architect. Some of Eero's best-knownworks are the Gateway Arch at St. Louis, and the TWA terminal at NYKennedy Airport. Yeah, it's a library. I made this originally for SYM prod. chained university project but it never progressed much further. Lot is size 4x4, plop cost is $3500 and monthly cost is max. $1000. Gives jobs for 100 librarians I think. No dependencies. UPDATE: Version 1.01, updated the EQ boost stat, it's now closer to other library BATs on STEX. To install, unzip the file into your plugins directory. -

-Cori edit: Update missing description from Read Me file. Olavinlinna Castle. Origin: Savonlinna, Finland. Found in Landmarks menu. Plop cost §30000, to maintain §200. Lot is 8x4 size, but the building about is 12x7 size, so be careful when you plop it. It must place on water, as in real world, it's situated on a small rocky island. This was a huge project to do, lots of backgound work, and I couldn't find decent photos from every direction, so some of the details are just guessed. I hope it works correctly, I had almost every possible problem with rendering and lot making. The Olavinlinna castle (Olofsborg in Swedish) was founded in 1475, by Danish-born knight Erik Tott, to protect Sweden against attacts from Russia. The castle was upgraded several times after that, latest great upgrades were made by Russians in 18th century. I made one of these parks over a year ago, never uploaded it here. Now I'm finally releasing a small set of these. These are 5 slightly different parks, all 1x1 size (+ overhanging parts). Plop cost $100, maintain cost $8. To install: just unzip and place the folder with files in your Plugins directory. No dependencies. ** A minor problem was reported by member HandsOff: "If you plop then plop them on already zoned but unoccupied lots, the zoning does not disappear. It is only visible when you lay subways." So plop these parks only on un-zoned land . -

Nasinneula Observation Tower. Origin: Tampere, Finland. 2x2 size lot, cost $28000, maintain cost $89. The tallest (168 m) observation tower in the Nordic countries, opened in 1971. In real world, Nasinneula is a part of Sarkanniemi Amusement Park (I'm not going to model rest of that park). The entrance is not (yet) like original, i didn't find good photos, I might update later (there is actually a quite large building down there). This neo-classical style cathedral was built in 1830-1852 and it's propably the best-known landmark in Helsinki (Finland). Lot size is 4x5 tiles. Plop cost $68 000, monthly cost $88. The lot isslightly scaled down from original and I removed two buildings fromeast side of the church. I belive building was also a landmark in SimCity 3000 unlimited euro tileset. Industrial manufacturing, 327 jobs. Three growable lots, 3x6, 4x6 and 5x6 sizes. Based on building in Pori, Finland. I modified and scaled down building to make a reasonable size growable lot. Based on the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen (Denmark). This one is scaled up , is about size of 1.5 tiles (the real one is 1.2 meters high). Plop cost $1100, monthly cost $20. Must be placed on water, it looks best when placed on shallow (blueish) water. I noticed when I modified surrounding tiles (for example built a roadnear statue), the texture under the statue turned to look incorrect, soit might be best first to build surrounding area and after that, plopthe statue. -
Hello everyone, I'm starting this thread to hear some comments before releasing my BATs (and I hope that would lead better results) I made this r$-building long time ago, but for some reason it does not grow on lots I made and I don't know why. The model is almost finished. This one could also be final, it's a triangular park with a statue. It's designed to work with diagonal roads. It does not look good on slopes because the base I made does not work as I expected. I might release it as it is. This one is also for diagonal roads (the whole buildind is rendered diagonally), but it needs at least some scaling and testing. Maybe the texturing needs also some work. I made this to test lightnings. I'm currently working with Uspenski Cathedral from Helsinki. The main tower and this one side are quite final, the opposite side, the base and the bell tower will need some work. I hope to hear your comments! EDIT: If you wonder the extra '-s in the title, they are not supposed to be there, the script or browser must have add them when I pushed the preview button. I also forgot this one, its a brutalist office/shopping center, voted as the Ugliest building in Helsinki

Krio p**kele! Here is a heterosexual texture for you: I don't know when/if I will finish/release my BAT projects.. not promising anything. About triangular/diagonal buildings, try searching the forum with those keywords.
