  1. PEG Abyss Garbage Chute

This is the first lot I've seen break through SC4's proverbial "fourth wall," making a joke on the game's own mechanics! Brilliant!
  2. Borders Books

Excellent architectural job as usual, but there's one problem--that's not Borders' logo, at least not the national chain I know! Look at www.borders.com; the logo uses a sans-serif type instead of serif.
  3. Big 6

Social realism at its best. Excellent detail!
  4. Simple Water Tower

Good, a reasonable amount of water. I recall another water tower (don't remember whose) that was set to 9999999 or something, and it totally screwed up my city's water stats!
  5. Htin Hitech Tower

Surreal and sublime; imposing and intriguing. Its form defies reality, yet its vast details pull that impossibility back into reality and firmly anchor it there. Simply jaw-dropping.
  6. BAT Projects - SimGoober

These are looking great, SG! Very authentic, and good attention to detail. As I mentioned in the LEX, though, on your Best Buy, there's an issue with the logo. My suggestion for you, and anyone else re-creating national chains, is to visit www.brandsoftheworld.com and do a search for the company--there you'll find not only a gif of the logo by itself, but an EPS that you can scale and perhaps import directly into Gmax.
  7. Simtropolis Metro Mercy Center Revised

I was hoping I'd see this one revisited--and you exceeded my expectations!
  8. Safeway Gorcery Store

I'd say this looks most like a store from about 1955-1965. Anyway, the vintage feel adds a very comfortable atmosphere to it... I can easily imagine walking in over a well-worn doormat, into a golden-hued interior with '60s style lettering for "PRODUCE," and so on.
  9. One MT Plaza

    Looks authentic.
  10. Geoff Diamonds Lake Tower

Excellent concept, and personally, I think the night lighting's fine. What you really need, though, is more texture--the beige walls just feel too flat, and the windows could use some reflection textures. No roof junk needed here, but you could "weather" the thing a bit with textures.
  11. London Gherkin

I don't rate either...I just give comments, which I think are far more valuable, as well as less offensive to individuals who went to grade-inflated schools. Honestly, with such a high caliber of work being more or less the norm here at ST, shouldn't the rating curve be less forgiving? Not that any of the leading BATers here ever do subpar work, but shouldn't ratings be icing on the cake, recognizing creations that are even more amazing than the other ones? What's the point if all the top ones are 10, and you suddenly jump down to 7 for anything less? Anyway, excellent job on the Gherkin, Caliban. I'm really glad to see this building in SC4.
  12. Embassy Suites Hotel

Perfect hotel to have near an airport!
  13. SimCity 2000 style Microwave Power Plant

The failthfulness to the 2K version is excellent, but I'd like to see your original take on it, too-- some elements of the original, such as that big, blue "M" were necessary back in the original because of the small pixel area of SC2K sprites; here you could put in your own (blue!), detailed sign.
  14. Professional Center

We need more gap-bridging buildings like this. Definitively suburban!
  15. The Colosseum

The attention to detail is stunning.
