  1. This one just takes the cake. It's supposed to be a courthouse. That's right, it's a government building. Completed 2007. They seriously overdone it with the colonnades. And the domes. Could you count the number of domes on this monstrosity?
  2. Countries Of The World

Not exactly a frequent tourist, but I had been to a few Asian countries out of curiosity. * PRC (specifically, Shanghai) (2004) - Traveled with a buddy who thankfully has a strong command of Chinese. The air has that strong cigarette smell when I went there winter 2004. It's the equivalent to smelling tobacco in an AC-ed room. Great view of The Bund though. * Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand (2005) - Three countries in one trip, and by far the most tiring, but was accompanied by another mate. Vietnam seems to be in a better standing than Thailand with better hospitality and all, but Thailand was still a great place to go; ditto with Cambodia. I wonder how Thailand is doing with all that political instability as of late. * Singapore (early 2008) - As expected, great place with interesting colonial architecture. Very clean and organized. Might visit again, probably during one of its F1 Gran Prix. * Malaysia (late 2008) - Drawn to visit Melaka and Penang after they were both listed in UNESCO's heritage site list. Took a train. Services are far poorer than in Singapore, but the architecture is surprising similar to Singapore's. Also, lots of rubbish on the streets. Also planning to visit Japan, Australia and Indonesia (Java and Bali) in the future.

But having played Caesar and CivCity Rome a long time ago, I stopped playing Anno 1404 in just one sitting because it's the same thing all over again. Guess this city building formula not my thing anymore. Feel free to try it out though. The visuals and design are great for something as recent as this.

And to think, before EA gobbled up Maxis, the folks at Maxis wanted SimCity 3000 to be fully 3D when PCs were just crawling out of the realms of 2D graphics. If EA didn't go ahead purchasing Maxis, we wouldn't have enjoyed The Sims and SimCity 4 the same way we do now. EA during the 1990s was still alright, before it started thinking dollars and less sense. During the early 2000s alone, problems started to sprout when EA dissolved Westwood and Bullfrog, fouled up the Need for Speed series with that Underground crap, and pushed aside the SimCity series in favour of The Sims. How things change.
  5. VW Kombi Set

Is it possible to provide separate .dat files for each version of the van? I just found out this dat file replaces the white "getaway" van automata outright, and I don't want that.
  6. Bought the SimCity Box a week ago. But the registration process has proven to be a pain. The first thing I tried was registration via EA, but all I'm offered is "cheats and hints", so I turned to my old Maxis user account. The thing is my account has been around since the beginning of time (since The Sims (1) was new), but I have no way of registering SimCity 4: Deluxe via Product Registration because my username is "used". Reading recent comments before mine, it looks like I'm not the only one expressing displeasure of the old SimCity site's lack of recent maintenance. In the end, I still ended up downloading the BAT and the Lot Editor via "illegal" means, but not the Terrain Generator and patch needed to resolve the night light bug. Talk about faulty customer service.
  7. Insurance Plaza BSC Don Miguel

Excellent recreation. I also like how it still blends in with the other cities in the game.
  8. I'm curious. I have a vague memory of seeing one for SimCity 3000 a long time ago. But were they any that came about even earlier?
  9. so how near is a near miss?

Wow, that was a totally awkward angle of viewing, but I would certainly be as shock as the photographer and nearby witnesses at first glance. Now that there was nothing serious in the first place, this is definitely worth a chuckle.
  10. Sydney Opera house v2

I also agree that more street props be placed on the bases. Good work on the transit enabling, too.
  11. Sydney Opera house v2

Definitely an improvement over the last version, but the buildings sails need darker texturing. Since the whole lot is made out of several models, though, it would be a good idea to render some shadows onto the bases for a more realistic look.
  12. One Canada Square Canary Wharf Tower

Nevertheless, you most certainly got the structure and details at the base right. Pretty good, but not perfect.
  13. One Canada Square Canary Wharf Tower

Actually, after having a look at the real building (at emporis.com), this building is not all too accurate to the real thing, mainly the facade, which is suppose to be flatter and its metallic frames wider.
  14. One Canada Square Canary Wharf Tower

About time your set reached this tower. Thumbs up with the work on the model and all.
  15. Professionals Tower

Nostalgia alert! Kudos for the work in updating it for SimCity 4's game environment.
  16. JinMao Tower

It's not the best tower I've seen (It does needs some good textures and better modelling), but I'm giving you a ten anyways for effort, and as a first colab. Keep up the good work.
  17. Consolidated Edison Building

Great model, but the texturing and lot design needs to be better.
  18. Original Downtown Athletic Club

I like the buildings, but the nightlighting seems lacking; I only see them at the bottom.
  19. Well, the last few posters pointed out the solution, but I'll like to clarify other facts. Refering to Klemvast post, residential buildings are only confined to their respectable tilesets; only certain smaller commercial buildings grow no matter what tileset you pick. It's also worth noting that not all buidlings from the Chicago set are strictly built in 1890s styling or are related to the time period; most large default malls (The Hsu Mall, Andrew's Fashion Center, Nanale Shopping Center, Harris Galleria, and Blkyr Galleria), as well as a Grand Hotel with apparently contemporary design is available in the tileset. Not that I'm advocating the tileset, but if you're intending to have these buildings in your city, it's a good idea to have controlled construction of these buildings (restrict construction of buildings from specific tilesets by providing limited areas for buildings to grow).
  20. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

I like '2 Eastland Grand'; we're long overdued for well made mixed-use train stations.
  21. 99 Bishopsgate

Smashing job. The work on the facade, lighting and roof are impressive.
  22. JENXParisRow1Rmultiple

I have to go with Acrobat; your whole w2w set deserves praise for its craftsmanship, but some of the lots are simply unrealistic because of their occupant sizes, including all the residential lots. The maximum number of occupants for buildings of this size would usually hover at around 80 to 120.
  23. The Waldorado

Oh, wait. I figured you already know about the Bosworth Tower--Waldorf-Astoria Hotel link from the Bosworth Tower's download description. My bad.

  25. The Waldorado

...Also, it would be a good idea to revise the aeries models. The Bosworth Tower is in fact based of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC (http://www.skyscraperpage.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24414). Perhaps you would like to take a look at its original aerieses.
