I still have no idea what is wrong with the original textures for the VW Plant lot. That said, I made new textures, since I didn't really like the original ones anyway. Here's an in-game pic working perfectly. The building still needs a slight adjustment, however.

Ehi guys, as a mentioned before, I wanted to try to model the garden directly into 3ds Max. Since I'm a very noob BATer, this is taking a long time. Also I'm not very happy with the result, but not sad either, let's say on average happy Well, i let the screenshot do the talking.

I don't know if you meant me, but here's the mod I'm using. It says "street trees" but there's also a file in there that places the parked cars. Unfortunately, there's no OWR-3 version. For the street mod (covering actual streets), I'm using this: Modified by this:

Did you try scrolling down with the mouse wheel? There should at least be a CO-$$$. SC4 can only display 8 entries per menu screen, but the commercial menu should have at least 9. Edit: You may also want to check the different submenus there. Especially CS-$, CS-$$, and CS-$$$.

I'm working on a slight update to the RCI DLL Queries, to incorporate the latest update to @Null 45's Query Hook UI Extensions. The Query will incorporate the new "building_summary" variable so that you'll be able to immediately tell the difference between buildings. Now you don't have to hover to see what commercial buildings are Commercial Services or Commercial Offices, for example, as the Query will incorporate that info from the hover. I always hated that I needed to do this: This will apply to all of the queries (Residential, Commercial and Industrial, and the tooltips and non-tooltips versions). It'll just take a bit of time to add it into all 6 of them since I'm placing it right underneath the "Abandoned Due to Commute Time" line at the top, so everything needs to be moved down and it's a bit of work to do that.

Model looks great, nice work! A couple things come to mind: 1. Louvers, like the ones that make up the horizontal band partway up the building, can be tricky to get right. If you attempt to follow real-world dimensions, they will be too narrow to show up in your renders (at least without getting a moiré pattern), so you will need to exaggerate their dimensions. There's a balance there, because if you exaggerate them too much it won't look right either, but I've personally found the sweet spot to be right around 0.2m or slightly less. Additionally, when you make your textures, you can create multiple variations of your cladding material with very slight color deviations and assign them at random to each louver, and this will increase the contrast between them. 2. Modeling blinds is way easier if you have a script to do it for you. I'm not familiar with what's out there for Blender, but I would recommend looking into it because it can save a lot of time. Alternatively, you can just copy your window geometry, move it to the inside face of your windows, when it comes time to do textures, you can just texture blinds onto that. Keep up the great work, I love Michigan Plaza

Moderator Action Probable Thanks @Haljackey for alerting me to the fact how at 11:02 EDT (and 8 seconds precisely), the file has been downloaded. A fully quarter fledged board meeting with all staff is approximately 69.42% likely, according to my spreadsheet of admin decision tree correlation probabilities. As such we'll decide what action is suitable from this point. It was in the best interest of the Simtropolis community how this file wasn't to be downloaded by anyone. Alas, some things cannot be prevented, and it has been downloaded. Seemingly a cat is now among the pigeons. Signed with supreme seriousity, -CB

Per @muddi's request, here is the original Maxis New York region, but set to 4 x 4 large city tiles. It is a replacement for the existing region. If you have the original New York folder in your Documents\SimCity 4\Regions folder, move it out to somewhere else. Then copy the New York folder from the .zip into your regions folder.

Apartment buildings like these can be found all over the midwestern United States. Many of these apartments were built in the mid-twentieth century and are quite affordable for renters. This one is based on floorplan no. 9968 from "All American homes" vintage floorplan catalog by Garlinghouse Company, available here (parts of the Internet Archive are offline as of this upload, so the link might not work. Much appreciation to the people who contribute to and maintain the archive! Hopefully it'll be back soon). The original floorplan contained two stories and eight units, but these buildings looked tiny in game even after I scaled them up. My version has three stories so that the walls are more visible in SimCity. I also made an additional building with extra units. These types of apartments are usually part of an apartment complex, so this file contains a 2x3 lot with two buildings. _______________________________________________ Lot Size: 2x3 Growth Stage: 4 Capacity: 135 R$ Building Style: Chicago, Houston Power Consumed: 2 Water Consumed: 6 _______________________________________________ Dependencies: BSC Texture Pack Cycledogg V01 GM Props Vol 1

This is my 1st BAT upload! Thanks to everyone who helped me with my BAT making. And thanks to all the tutorials and threads! It's my own designed building inspired from old vintage Art-Deco buildings from America. The .zip file including Growable and Ploppable(Landmark) folders and files. Both CO$$$ and Landmark are 4x5 lot size. Both MaxisNite and DarkNite compatible. (I'll add the DarkNite version when I learn how to make it one day.) No Dependencies ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ! Information Update ! I didn't know that BAT made with Gmax is compatible with both MaxisNite and DarkNite. (Thanks for the information Jasoncw!!) So even though I wrote (MaxisNite) in the file name, the file is compatible with DarkNite mode too. ^ Original Pic Name: 1-319151728478526-4.jpg ^ Original Pic Name: omg.png

This may look more like a general request and not something specific for NAM, but I'd like to suggest it anyway. Hopefully somebody would like to give it a try, and maybe that somebody could be me too. We all know that ordinary asphalt absorb heat, making cities hotter and more unbearable. So here is an idea. How about a cosmetic mod that re-textures the road from black to blue? That's right, blue-coated asphalt roads! By adding a 1mm of blue coating with special heat-reflecting pigment and hollow ceramic microspheres, blue roads can reduce the so-called Urban Heat Island Effect by reflecting the heat instead of absorbing it, and can even enhance nighttime visibility too. And yes, they actually exist in Quatar! And you know what? Blue roads in real life look awesome! So, how about in SC4 too?

I tried the Top 19 of the most common passwords list on Wikipedia, but no luck. (I was too tired and bored and fed up and frustrated to try #20 on the list, so I didn't bother.) I just really (really (really)) want to see inside THE_FILE too. It sounds ever so exciting. Prime numbers are so cool, and I regularly recite and count them to get to sleep (instead of counting sheep).

You can't hide completed OpenSC4 from us! Edit: Just to clarify, I've downloaded it. Edit 2: Now that I'm super-duper permabanned, someone, please take over for me. I easily found the .7z's password and when I saw the numbers, I realized that they were all the prime numbers from one to one million. I thought that maybe, there was something "off" about the list. Maybe, there was a number in there that was not a prime number? I found a list of all the prime numbers from one to one million online and ran that list into an online diff checker comparing it to the contents of THE_FILE. The contents of both were identical....

This mod completely revolutionized SimCity 4 with only 1 KB. It created that perfect union between The Sims 2 and SimCity 4. Now you can decide any aspect of the city and sims. Are you bored? use tsunami disaster. Do you want something that pampers you? Turn sims into cute, cuddly furries. In short, this mod has completely changed SimCity 4 leading to a level of transcendence that no one can imagine. This mod is not enough only 5 stars this mod is worth 11/10

The best use of the "big red button" contradiction I've seen on the site. The only negative is the lack of a childish insult in the text file. "lol noob" perhaps. Oh and spontaneous banning for those who downloaded the file. It'd be pretty funny. Not for the people banned, of course, but for an administrator who needs to blow off steam it'd be HILARIOUS. v42 edit We've finally arrived, after 42 versions, to a nearly perfect maximum overtroll. The somewhat snarky text file, the nested folders, and let's not forget the password protected file at the end with an obvious password for the grand total of three people who caught the inside joke. No arbitrary and random bannings, as far as I can see, but it's possible I've already been shadowbanned and I'm currently screaming into the cold, uncaring void. If so, well played, Simtropolis administration. Well played. My only suggestion for improvement at this junction is to release a version with a functional building inside the locked zip file. Create a string of hints leading to the password. Then after a few people download it and discover the contents, edit things such that there's no evidence of the building having ever existed and rely on the Mandela effect to take care of the rest. You've been on the internet long enough. You CAN troll this hard.

I sent a report, it can be purged from the server. I can't do it. I wanted to see if the warning/informing message is still there regarding uploading transit enabled lots. But it's not there anymore. Probably it needs to be implemented for the new categories again?

Excellent detailing in the preview image, which clearly outlines this is a TEST file and NOT to download it due to the effective use of ALL CAPS text. Also the contrast between the black text on white background is exquisite, and really is a piece of art. This may well be a potential candidate for Lot of The Decade.

The Maxis Fairview region rendered in ready-to-use form in a Large tile configuration. Originally Maxis made the regions to have few (or no) Large sized tiles due to performance considerations. By popular demand and from what @ASV7900 specifically requested, here is the Fairview region in an expanded tile layout. This allows more freedom to build on the terrain over a larger area at once. Each tile has been saved with vanilla Plugins to update the tile appearance in the region view to be consistent with how Maxis created them originally. All cities have also been paused for convenience. Installation Copy the included folder into your Regions folder: Documents\SimCity 4\Regions This new region can still be installed in addition to the Maxis original. Renaming (Optional) It isn't necessary, but you may wish to rename the region. This can be worth doing if wanting the name to simply be Fairview instead of with the descriptive part (All Large) in the parentheses. To do this: With the game closed, open the region.ini file with Notepad (or any text editor). Change the name to whatever you'd like it to be instead. For example: Name = Fairview Save the file and then the name will be updated when reloading the game Also in this Maxis Maps series Here are the other 4 Maxis regions I've uploaded along the same theme: Berlin Kanto Tokai London San Francisco Special Thanks As ever, I dearly appreciate @CorinaMarie helping me with a few ideas for these region releases, inspired by her Maxis New York 4x4 upload. Cori also kindly helped share the workload with me for saving each tile with a vanilla Plugins folder to update the terrain from the Mapper color scheme, and to pause each city tile. And of course, to Maxis for creating these regions for us mayors to enjoy, even all these years later.

US Bank Center, located in the city of Milwaukee, was completed in 1973 and was designed by Bruce Graham of SOM. The building was originally built for First Wisconsin National Bank. Today it is named after US Bank, which First Wisconsin National Bank acquired in 2001. Continue reading for more information. 5x10 and 10x5 growables. 5x10 ploppable. CO§§ and CO§§§. The US Bank sign is optional. Remove "Jasoncw - US Bank Center - Sign (XN).dat" to remove the sign. The ploppable lot is transit enabled. The growable lots have a plaza in that space. MaxisNite and DarkNite night versions. DarkNite requires the Day and Nite Modd. Installation Instructions: Download either the DarkNite (DN) or MaxisNite (MN) version. If you're unsure, choose the MN version. Unzip the .zip and move its contents to Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins. SC4Lot files are descriptively titled. Remove the lot versions which you don't want. Do not remove any .SC4Model files. BAT and lotting by Jasoncw Modding by nofunk Special thanks to @Tyberius06 for fixing the immortal lot bug, and improving the lots' stats! If you're using the original version, it is recommended to demolish all instances of the lots in your cities, and replace them with the updated version. -Jasoncw, October 2024 Click here to learn about new projects in the works
