Originally founded by the Portuguese in the 1700s under the name Lourenço Marques (a name it kept until 1976), Mozambique's capital city of Maputo has continued to grow over the centuries and today is one of the Indian Ocean's most important port cities. Known for beautiful architecture, vibrant nightlife, and its diverse culture, Maputo has gained a reputation as one of the region's best tourist destinations - so let's take a look at this lively city.

We'll start with a view of Maputo Railway Station and Workers' Square. Although Maputo is smaller and less crowded than many other capitals in the region, things can still get quite busy during rush hour.

Located on the country's beautiful Indian Ocean shoreline, Maputo is in close proximity to many of the region's most pristine beaches. Small, quaint fishing villages like the one below are a common sight in the area.

Interesting choice! Thanks for shining a spotlight on an area of the world I know nothing about. Great work!

Thanks for the comment @RobertLM78!

Although I've been focusing on some of the more famous cities as of late - there's still so many cool but relatively unknown cities out there that deserve to finally get recreated in SC4. Glad I was able to introduce you guys to Maputo *:)

One of the African cities I always wanted to recreate along with Luanda and Cape Town.

Amazing work as always, I love that roundabout! Quick question, what did you use to make the construction on the last picture (mosaic) ?

Keep up the good work! I'm curious to see what will be next :)
