You might want to try starting a new thread on the SC4 general discussion forum. You'll also want to be more specific about what links you're trying that are either outdated or broken. There are some very fine users here that will be glad to help answer your questions and concerns as I have found. Explain what type of buildings you're trying to make to help them help you better.

Hello all!

Name's obsidian29, or Obby for short. I've been playing SimCity since... hmm. Wow. Probably since before I was 9. Started with SimCity 2K and 3K which my cousin gave me, and then sometime after I was 9, my mom bought me SC4 Deluxe. I've played a few other city building games but always come back to SimCity.

A few years back I tried to install SC4 Deluxe on a newer computer, but discovered that the faulty DVD drive in the previous machine had scratched it severely! As a result, Mom bought it for me on Steam and I've been back to playing it ever since.

So that's at least 15 years of SimCity!

Other than building cities, I am a writer first and foremost, I love to delve deep into my worldbuilding and I write both my own original works and fanfiction. I am also a programmer and love to mod games, that's how I got my start - modding a Doom TC believe it or not. Lately I've been modding Minecraft, and one of the things I'm doing is actually adding more stone-based decoration blocks for more varied city builds! So yeah. Cities still factor deep into my psyche.

One day I'll live in a big one.

Look forward to meeting all of you and glad to finally be a part of a community where I can geek out over SC4 without people defenestrating me!

also hi I'm kaimai I've been playing SC4 on and off for ~20 years (starting when I was 12, jesus christ), always got bored quickly bc of repetitive buildings and limited style options, eventually discovered this site sometime last year (after the closure of SC4 Devotion unfortunately) and have been obsessed ever since. I am currently job-hunting and very ADHD but I may periodically make BATs or do other stuff when time and energy permit, keep an eye out I guess

Grrr. Please provide a bit more detail. What were you submitting? A STEX file? A post attachment? A simple post, but from another device? I ask cause your post above shows up fine. Ofc, for anyone's very first post they do go into a moderation queue to be approved by staff (as yours was), but that is separate from the Clean Talk protection thinger (unless the combination of first post and Clean Talk was the culprit).

 

Edit: So I went to their blacklist page and pasted in your IPv4 address and sure enough they say there was one website attack way back on 16 March, 2018. I wonder if you can ask them to remove it from their database? It sure seems likely to me that would be someone else all those years ago.

It was a post titled, "SC4GraphicsOptions.ini, dgVoodoo, and 4k monitotor" regarding how the SC4GraphicsOptions.ini file and the dgVoodoo DirectX wrapper work when used together. There were no attachments included.

Regarding my IPv4 address and the blacklist page, I don't really know what that means. If it means anything, I am accessing Simtropolis from my work computer which is undoubtedly part of a humongous WAN of PCs across many different geographic locations.

Attached is a screenshot of the full text of my original attempted submission. I tried to paste the full text to this very message, but Clean Talk blocked this response.

Do you see any trigger words or phrases in that?

I cannot believe this. I was looking through the text wondering what it could be. Then I noticed that I described the game window with a certain resolution as "nice and large". I changed that phrase to "big". Now it worked.
