Hi, my name is Simon and I'm here to play sc3000 and sc4 for the umpteenth time.

Hiya, Simon. Welcome to Simtropolis! *:)  I'm Cori.

I've played the original and 2000 when very young and sort of remember them. Then 3000 enough to have very fond memories and now 4000 SC4 since about the middle of 2015.

My favorite SimCity game is SimCity creator ds. Though there seems to be a lack of discussion about this game :/

I Googled it and it sounds fascinating. Too bad it was never ported over to the PC. Feel free to start a discussion of it in City-Building Games if you like. (I wouldn't expect much activity for it, but then again, who knows?)

It's just a hobby. I have been programming since 2015 and I use Game Maker Studio, but I've never released anything.

Hello there!

which mod you wanna work on? Cause we've got a good list so far:

  • NAM: you'd have to go through the proper channels for this one, and idk how that works out)
  • CAM: not much going on here, but adding new lots is always appreciated; Ulisse is over this and he's doing a pretty good job with updating it)
  • SPAM: .....maybe help Ulisse make it CAMpatible is really the only thing going on; but like CAM you can build new lots for it
  • AMPS: Roberta's looking for as much feedback as possible with this (plus I'm looking into possible additions)
  • Submenus: all ploppables need updates to match that of the new submenus; but leave the NAM stuff and Airport stuff alone, cause there's people working on each of those (and no RTMT cause it's technically part of NAM)

and, I have a whole mess to go through myself if you wanna deep dive the rabbit hole of a thread that I have. There's a handful of options ranging from BATting, lotting, programming, art, etc.

And, of course, just various generic ones that you can look through and work out. DLL mods are in high demand now, so if you know C++, it'd probably help out Memo and Null45, seeing as they're the only ones currently with any DLL knowledge (that I know of anyway).

Or, alternatively, just make your own, no worries there!! *:)

Hi, all,

you might have seen some of my work on Reddit, but I decided that this might be a better forum for what I’d like to post.

I’m a dedicated player of SimCity4 with roughly 5,000 hours underneath my belt so far. I am from Chicagoland and currently attend McGill University in Montreal for economics. My experiences with these two cities seem to drive my city planning methods.

I have devoted my free time for the past three years to mastering elements of this game. I look forward to sharing and developing my region with you all as well as getting to know some members of this community.

Hi, I'm JayDoctor. I used to play SimCity 4 all the time growing up but haven't touched it much in a long time. No idea what I'm doing, but would love to get some mods and fix some of the frustrating bugs from back in the day.

Hey everyone,
I am Plowmoon, recently joined this community after I discovered this site and the active community that is still present around SC4. Just some quick facts about me, I am currently studying at university, I live in Europe and I enjoy playing various genres of video games, although games with a strategic or designing aspect like city building games always had a special place in my heart. SC4 was one of the first computer games I can remember playing in my childhood (when I was around ten or so) and it always brought me a lot of joy, despite me being very oblivious and planting toxic waste dumps in the middle of the city and wondering why I never managed to get my economy working to the point where my cities make money. U-Drive-It missions saved all of my cities from going bankrupt back in the day. As my life progressed I lost my interest in the game (and for a long time the dvd also disappeared in some drawer). But I never really lost interest in games city building games and the only things stopping me from joining the Cities Skylines world back when it was released was that I couldn't afford a suitable PC back then. I recently discovered this community randomly through stumbeling across some content on YouTube and I was very fascinated to learn how much people have created. I was totally unaware that there is so much content available and I was thrilled enough to get a new copy of SC4 and to dive in again. (And quite some hours and nights have already been spent :D)
So, I am very happy to finally also be an active part of this community and am looking forward to exchange all kind of thoughts about city building and to see all the amazing stuff that is created by this community.
Cheers Plowmoon

Hello everyone! As can be seen I'm Izuna, but this isn't my first rodeo, I actually stumbled into the Simtropolis forums about 6 years ago when I first played SimCity Creator for the DS and wanted something bigger to satisfy that numtot itch. I used to go by Zexcoiler Kingbolt until my laptop crashed and I lost the account alongside 21 gb of mods, lots, bat's, and early university papers. I was hugely bummed about the prospect of having to rebuild my plug-ins from the ground up but I found the motivation to get back into the game when I found a way to play SimCity 4 on my phone, and now I'm excited to be able to take my cities on the go and (hopefully) not lose them like I did years ago. Cheers!

I presume it's @zexcoilerkingbolt24 and if so, CB and I can help you recover that if you'd like it back. (There would be secret questions in a PM and then we'd merge your current account into the older one.)

My ST time today will be hit and miss for the next several hours, but after that we could work on recovery. Just let me know.

Hi all!

I've been a fan of SimCity games, and especially SC3K, since the latter was almost new. I probably have put more hours into this game than any other, though in recent years adult life's caught up with me and I hadn't been playing as much. Last year another member here got me back into the groove, and set me up with SimCity 4 as well as some awesome mods for SC3KU that I've been exploring. Attached are some screenshots of a WIP city which I know isn't perfect, but I'm trying not to use cheats and had disasters turned on. Man, marinas are expensive, right? The six or so whirlpools within 30 years didn't seem to care, and I guess I was too stubborn to not rebuild them every time they got wiped out. It was honestly hilarious.

In any case, I'm excited to dive deeper into some of the city building games I missed. I've been aware of ST's existence for a very long time, but by nature I'm more of a casual gamer and a lurker. Still, urban design and planning is one of my real life interests, so I'm happy to call these games home.

Hello everyone, I'm Cynical. Looking to talk to others about city building and have some help getting SimCity 4 working optimally, I've never played it before but it looks amazing and I hear it is much more oriented towards what I feel Cities Skylines is missing, and its sequel doesn't look promising to me either.

We've seen this from other peeps too and have suspected it was caused by copying from a translator. Your post confirms that.

As test, what happens if you copy from the translator, post in Notepad (or other text only editor), then re-copy, and finally post here? (I'm guessing that might strip out the extra formatting which is otherwise being carried over.

(Also, I did fix both of your posts above.)

Hello! I have had SimCity 4 Deluxe on my steam since 2012 but never got it to work properly.

After watching some videos of the game running on modern hardware I ended registering here.
Still trying to figure things out, but it's nice how far the community has taken the game :)

Hello,
I actually joined all the way back in 2006, but I never posted (just browsed), so nearly 20 years later, this is my first post.
I mainly play SC4, although I have played all previous games. I just decided to give the game another go and thought I'd check in here and download some mods.
Thanks! *:)
