Quite a few of the housing estates have them, they put the sidewalk on only one side, and the side that does not have sidewalk the property goes right to the road, heck even where I live the road has no sidewalk at all but does have housing.. Think of the dirt roads in game but the size of the two lane roads and asphalt, in Australia not all of our residential roads have sidewalk..

This image is a good example of what we have here, second image has no sidewalk at all..

you know what I don't know why i thought it was weird i literally lived in WA on a road that had no sidewalks hahaha

I think they do it as it saves a heck of a lot of money in not having to lay down a ton of concrete especially if the area it is in sees very little foot traffic.. Or just plain old don't want to spend the cash on putting in a sidewalk.. :)

Did anyone try to combine train and road network under same road, as a form of LRT ?

Train network acts better for passenger "attraction" to me, on the same distance citizens prefer trains over trams for some reason, so I guess using LRT on train network seems a better idea.

As for the network, I personnaly tried but I received "path not found" error

It really depends. If the tram line passes the right locations, it can suck the train connection completely dry. Generally, the disadvantage of trams is the low speed, at least if you don't fiddle with it in TM:PE. Even buses have an advantage over tram from the road maintenance mechanics, which means they can be faster on the same road.

So HERE is my new Road for this weekend! Took quite a while because you need individual meshes and textures for all the combinations of stops (if they are bays or not etc)

4 Lane Tram Boulevard with Bikes

Nice! Any way you can make a version where you move the tree medians to the tram side, e.g. bike|parking|car|car|median|tram|tram|median|car|car|parking|bike ? This way trams have a land stop as opposed to crossing the street? But maybe that would then interfere with the dedicated bus stops; if so, maybe a version without parking instead but keeping the medians for both bikes and trams, e.g. bike|median|car|car|median|tram|tram|median|car|car|median|bike ?

EDIT: disregard, I thought it was separate car lanes from tram tracks and am idiot :P Instead, any way you can make a version with a median in the middle for tram stops by removing parking, e.g. bike|median|car|car/tram|wide-median|car/tram|car|median|bike ?

Uhh! This latest one is my new favorite! :D Any plans for one just like it but without tram? I really love how the bike lane is seperated with the trees. ^^

I am actually going to remove the trams and upload that too. I just have to remove half the meshes that are required for tram stops

Is it possible this same thing can be made but with separated bus lanes instead of the tram tracks?

Unsymmetrical roads are a hell to make and probably require modding. That's why it took the NEXt-team so long.

well they're actually a part of Mass transit so they're easier to make - but if you have something like that where bikes and cars would cross over if you had them reversed, you'd get  a weird intersecting point so probably not the best road

Does new road modding tool support quays?

Yes but they still have to be relatively the same thickness. Both for terrain reasons and matching the vanilla meshes

I'd like to see this variation of tram road, if anyone's got the time. Car traffic in a single direction down the centre with trams in the outside lanes going both ways.

A variant could be traffic using the right-hand tram lane as a turning lane.

Im no longer taking specific requests due you an irritating conversation on steam with an idiot who thought he knew more than me.  So you should post this elsewhere.

However i will say now that your design is visually incompatible with the game.

OKAY time for your thoughts on the first of a suburban boulevard type road.

This is guy is a 32m wide, 6 lane road, but the 4 inner lanes are separated from the outer 2 by a median strip (which has breaks to allow for changing lanes) there is also parking on the outer most edge.

these are pretty common road types where i am, usually to help segregate traffic  - I'm considering having the inner most lanes at a higher speed limit so they're used more. let me know what you think (comment about want/nee/style etc but please don't ask me for an unrelated road - maybe suggest alternative "suburban styled roads that do not require DLCs to work which means no bike paths or bus priority - i want to keep this set vanilla friendly)

Looks good, we have these in here as well.

I don't like trees though, since they are vanilla. I do understand you want to make this as vanilla friendly, so maybe at least release the road without trees, so end user can decorate roads with workshop trees or any other props that can be used on the median.

Since you're already mentioned, can we make non-vanilla ones for ourselves ? I'd prefer to have a variant that it has tram tracks on outmost lanes (and or bus lanes)

This looks really good as an arterial or scenic boulevard! I have another suggestion: how about a 1-lane each way and 2-lane each way 32m street with parking (on each side) and huge parking strip (enough lawn to be considered a front yard)?

They are pretty common in Seattle and I have seen them elsewhere. They are very American because Americans have bigger yards. Right now, 4 tile deep low density residential doesn’t look like American suburbs, even with the right buildings downloaded unless you give huge gaps between houses and give them back yards and side yards. Having a big front yard can make the need for a back yard diminish.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

We also have these in Moscow, but separators are much wider.

I personally don't mind the vanilla trees that much, but I can understand the need for a bare median too. I'd say go with whatever you feel it's best *;)

I'll share this for inspiration: We have this type of boulevard in Rosario too (Rondeau Boulevard; 2 inner and 1,5* outer with parking and turning lane. Inner lanes have higher speed limit. Boulevard transitions into a 4 lane before intersecting with Portugal and Alberdi Avenues at the south)

*The outer part is wide enough for 2 regular cars to drive side-by-side, that's why I wrote '1,5'. Rosarians tend to drive in the middle of both lanes too, so that doesn't help. :lost:

I will probably end up doing tram/bus versions of this sort of road with bikes as well but i want to focus on vanilla.

as for the trees, what do you do with the vanilla roads that have trees? or do you not use them? I could change the tree to another, I was thinking of using MrMaison's London Planetree on some of mine

I use Network skins to change them. For vanilla segments (segments that are in the base game), you can use Network Skins and change trees with workshop ones. NS doesnt work with custom roads nor pillars so it's not possible to modify anything (trees, lights, pillars) that come with workshop roads.

I had a discussion with Ronyx today to make 1 road with specific style of bridge/pillar and recycle these on other segments, but he confirmed that NS doesn't recognize workshop roads, thus using it is no longer possible.
