I really do think it is lovely that this site has recognised Nonny with his Avatar at the top of the header. Really nice to see the whole site remembering such a dedicated member. The smiling moose shall continue to lift my heart in these sad times...

Thanks to the site administrators for honoring the request to memorialize his account and include his avatar at the top of the site header. In just the same way as Mr. Winterton welcomed most of the members of the site in some way, I think it's fair for him to be remembered and continue greeting new members to the site even after he is gone.

He was one of the first to engage me and help me out when I first joined this site years ago.  I knew I would always see many posts from him any time I came here.  I recall him and I both giving career choice advice to a younger member not too long ago.

I will miss his contributions for sure.  Will be praying for his family.

Oh my goodness. I have not visited here for a while. I never expected such sad news. I will always remember him for his words of wisdom and strong support for this community. RIP friend.

Oh that's a shame, I haven't been on here in a few months. But Nonny Moose was always one of the few members I remember, whenever I had a SC4 problem he was always one of the first to respond with help.

Very sad... What to say here? It has not been a long time since he was here and posting in the forums.

Will be missed!

Rest in peace Nonny

John was such a massive presence within the SC4 ST Community for a long time and it's all the more shocking and sorrowful when we have so few 'old-timers' around to contribute and contribute greatly he most certainly did. I enjoyed debating with him immensely and he was intelligent and entertaining.

Always sad to lose members of the community in this way but it's a community all the richer thanks to his efforts and input.

I also have been away from this site for some time, heard the news on Steam so decided to log in again and post my respects. Very sad news indeed won't be the same here without him... Rest In Peace Nonny.

Rest in peace Nonny. I hardly ever log in anymore, but when I do, I always check to see how he's doing. I never talked to him, but I knew that he was a pillar to the Simtropolis community. This is honestly heartbreaking.

The condolence I wrote on the funeral home page:

I am a newer member of the Simtropolis community and “know” few of its members but John (aka “A Nonny Mouse”) is a name I instantly recognize and not just because it was so clever. I was drawn to his posts for the reasons so many others cited here: his wit and friendly nature, willingness to help, and knowledge. I accidentally discovered a link to this condolences page and can only tell you that, even though I never met John, I was taken aback and saddened to learn of your loss.

God Bless You and May John Rest in Peace.

I didn't know John like many of you but understand how is loss could affect you so much since even just my casual reading of many of his posts could lead me to feel his loss the way I do.

I haven't been to Simtropolis in quite a while, but I was saddened to see this news. I learned so much about the game from A Nonny Moose, and I know he helped so many other people as well.

Rest in peace.

Very saddened to hear of his passing. If it wasn't for John's help, I probably would have gave up playing SimCity 4. I am incredibly thankful and appreciative of all of his contributions to Simtropolis.

Rest in peace John. You will be missed.

Idon't check these forums very often anymore. When I read this, my mind went back to the countless hours I spent on this forum simply reading, and not even contributing. I always respected Nonny's opinions and loved his passion and warmth. I am deeply saddened not only at this loss to our community, but also by the fact I no longer have the opportunity to get to know him better. He always struck me as a contributor second to none on here, and for having wasted the opportunity of having him around without making my respect for him known, I am regretful.

Rest easy friend. Thank you for everything.

I never got to talk to him.  I've read through so many of his posts on ST. Every time I explore a topic on ST, A Nonny Moose is talking to me. Its like he is still alive here, but you can't talk to him.  I've experienced a few special relations with characters online since the internet became accessible back in the mid 90's, before that the BBS and echo-mail community is well known to computer hobbyists active before then.   How special human beings are that even with just a keyboard we can express so much soul, spirit and intellect like great whales that can sing across all space and time, all eternity, so eloquently with so much depth of feeling and meaning.   Its a beautiful thing to be alive, and to be in the presence of life stronger than all fear, ignorance and death.

This is very sad news indeed. He was always present in the community, from the start of ST,  and always was willing to offer a helping hand to newcomers and offer unique insights on current events. His presence here will be greatly missed and he has truly had an impact on many people!

I haven't been on this site for a while but the last couple times I was here, Nonny was noticeably absent.  In the past, when I logged onto Simtropolis, I looked forward to see what the latest topic Nonny commented on, whether it was the SimCity game or something else.  I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I haven't been active on here for a long time but I had an urge a day or two to check up on this place, and yes to see if John had reached 50k posts. Then I saw the moose at the top and my heart sank. Thank you Nonny for your absolute dedication to this wonderful place. I am deeply sorry to hear of your passing, my regards and condolences to all.
