Ok I'm going to ask a question I should have asked a long time ago. how do I prevent the error "asset name" has no base or Lod has no base?. Does the game create the bases for me or do I have to make them as I have done for some of my assets? If the game creates them what do I have to do to make sure it will? -
Trying to update this arena asset for campus, but mod tools keeps messing up textures =(

Glad to help. I am still learning this myself but I think the White border in "Object" mode means that the object has been "grabbed" (G key) and ready to move using your mouse or arrow keys. Pressing G again will remove the white border. It is covered in the first tutorial I linked to. Once you get used to the two separate modes "Object" and "Edit" it becomes a lot clearer. Keep trying and good luck. -

Ok, at this point I am going to point you in the direction of youtube and an excellent series of tutorials starting with the basics .Blender 2.8 Tutorials Try these first, if you don't succeed I will do it for you but have a go first. Lesson 2 is the one you need to concentrate on. Learning Blender takes time and you never stop learning I think you are doing the classic "tying to run before you can walk". Your doing ok so far, spend the even a small amount of time and have a go there are tons of tutorials on youtube. Look for Blender 2.8 tutorials with the new user interface. -

Ah... ok now I understand. The only reason the building does not appear to be "flipped" is because it is symmetrical (so as you say nothing seems to change). If you cover one face of the mesh with a texture you will alter the UV unwrapping of the model so don't do that. Try this:- Select edit mode for the object. Select one face on the right hand side of the mesh. Hit Shift+d to duplicate that face and move the duplicated face a to the right of the rest. Go back into object mode and "flip" it. The duplicated face should now be on the left giving you confidence that the obj has been "flipped". Then in edit mode delete the duplicated face and save. -

Quote "as the obj file has not one side that recognizable. " Not sure what you mean buy that but just clicking on the object should change the outline to orange allowing you to "flip" and re-export it. Once you import the lod object After selecting it "flip" it and re-export it (having first hit Ctrl + A and locking in the location, rotation and scale ) and re export it it should work. I think. -

Are you are using blender?. If so when the object is imported you have to "flip" it on the X axis.(don't know why it does this but it does) Select the object then hit CTRL+M then hit x for the x. axis. -

Not sure about the the foundation change? Have you also created a _c.png texture for the lod as well? Should be "asset name_lod_c.png" -

Been a while since I last posted so I thought I would show you my current work coming soon. The Beresford Hotel Glasgow. (an Art Deco Classic) What I would really like to do is create my own custom made animated flag to sit on top of the building. As suggested by Bad Peanut I have asked Ronyx if he could attach a sample mesh and textures to his excellent web site but I guess he has gone Awol. I think that I need to learn vertex painting in order to be able to do this. Other than this I have no clue how to go about it. Anyone able to post some files or point me in the right direction? Thanks Mntoes -
Whats wrong with my texture?
mntoes replied to RaeFromStateFarm's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
That's usual for this game. Take a look at the buildings they do the same. It's the Normal map showing-up. -
Hi Ronyx, Is there any chance that you could attach some example files to your website for the animated flag prop please.? It would make it so much easier for me to figure it out myself as I understand the basics but am not sure what texture maps I need other than the _D.
