At least you're not dead yet D:

Nite lites still don't look fitting with this building. I guess I've said that already but to say it again: In case this is the Trump World Tower from NYC you should keep in mind it's an residential building, it's almost entirely filled with residential condos. And residential buildings usually are completely differently lit up at night than a commercial building. I don't know the floorplans but you usually don't have an entire floor lit up because, well, these are residential units and each stands for its own and, therefore, the person next to the lit up room (because its owner is incrediblyis nocturnal) is already sleeping and doesn't have his lights turned on.

Also, the light looks to flat. Like basically what it is, a plane covered with some plain textures, it's basically missing some more depth (like lowering opacity and work with interior lights). And also the texture you've chosen is rather looking commercial than residential

Btw, don't worry, this critique on a very high level so most people might not bother too much what I just stated :P

    I'll definitely be editing the nightlighting to make it look more residential, but the flat lighting is necessary just purely because using interior lighting hurts my computer on a project this size :P Thanks for the indepth critique though, I'll make sure to make the rooms more 'individual' in lighting.

    Maybe release both versions as R$$$ and CO$$$, assuming the previous one wasn't overwritten.

    Anyway, this is a perfect piece of perfection, and in any of its forms, it will be a fantastic addition to the STEX.

    I think it looks really good, except I think the facade is too dark and saturated (what I said in JP Schriefer's thread). It's tough because this is a black building so it should be dark, but not too dark of course. If you put it into a screenshot from the game and desaturate it it's more clear.

    For the nitelites it doesn't seem like the windows (the floor levels) in the texture are lined up with the windows of the building.

    I think the model itself looks good, in fact it looks darn good.. but I think the main problem, and this is my opinion, is that the approach is a little too sci-fi.. and because of that, it throws me off when I see the nitelite for example.. but that's just me.

    Huston,the Trump Tower is looking good.The Detailing on the Roof looks superb and the overall Facade looks amazing.Sure,compared to the white Background it looks really dark,but we havent seen it in "Action" (ingame) so it`s hard to compare to it`s surroundings or other Buildings.

    @Aaron Graham Thanks a lot :)

    @Toothless Stitch I'm experimenting with how to get the nightlights to appear in a certain away. Not working so far lol. :P

    @Seraf Yeah it's a little difficult to get the nightlights right (Interior lighting isn't option for me unfortunately :P)

    @matias93 Yeah, probably will do that :P

    @edwardjeria Thank you :)

    @Jasoncw Yeah, will definitely have to tweak and align those nightlights, and I'll probably just make a separate night file to lighten up the facade so it doesn't look like black block in darknite :P

    @cmdp123789 I'm a little confused with what you mean by a 'sci-fi' approach? :P

    @Hotwheeler It actually is quite dark when you dump it in the game, but I'll be able to fix that by making a separate file and lightening the dark brown hue ;)

    Okay, bear with me guys, I can't seem to gather the motivation to render Trump World just yet (it takes an insane amount of time and it renders my pc useless during that time -- i don't like that considering my general want to do something :P ie. play a game! :P ) So I went with an even simpler and hopefully, not so time and resource testing BAT. I chose these weird little group of misfit towers that form some sort of complex. I don't know a great lot other than some of their names, but they're located along Blecker, La Guardia and West Houston in Manhattan :P

    They're mildly interesting, but I thought it'd just be quick step to release something half decent in a very short time period :P

    And the BAT so far for 100 Blecker (at least I think it's address is 100 Blecker, which is the right-most of the complex, next to the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center):

    I think they're excellent, yeah they're not a sparkling office tower but we need buildings like this as they're of their time and help with diversity in cities. I think they'd be good residential towers IMO

    Looks awesome!

    I think it would work well as a residential and maybe a commercial service building? There's always a shortage CS buildings that have a decent number of jobs...

    I'd agree. There's a definite lack of R$$ or C$/C$$ buildings that don't look either slummy or unrealistic. The Brutalist design makes me want to have these, and it's reminiscent of my having seen this on walks around NYU's campus. Would love to see an end product.

    Ah it`s good to read something new from you.I totally understand you.Having a Computer that can`t be used for anything because it`s working on something is annoying.

    Reminds me of my old Computer when i wanted to play Sims 2.

    With all the Custom Content in it the Game had loading Times up to 45 Minutes.And you can`t even minimize the Loadingscreen or the Game would chrash.Well,i lerned living with it and while the Game was loading i did something in the Household or just read something.

    Your newest Creations might be based on simple looking Buildings (well,New York isn`t entirely made out of Brownstones, fancy Landmarks and glassy Skyscrapers) but you captured the Look quite right.

    Also looks like you invented a new Niche for NYBT Creations....the Social Housing Complexes.Wouldn`t mind having a few more of these in my Game.I know that there already plenty of Social Housing Buildings for SC4 but not in this modern Style.

    Keep up your great Work,there are may SC4 Players that will be more than happy having your Creations in Game.

    Have a great Week.

    Looks great too me :) Those might not be the landmarks but they are definitely needed to build realistic city :thumb:

    I like the idea of a high rise CS$, mainly to compensate the appaling deficit of it in all cities, but also because of the concept: in many RL cities, there are towers full of seedy offices and shops full of counterfeiters and other informal or rightly delictual laborers, and that conform an important part of the economy.

    Of course, maybe that version would need a way grungier lot than the one the actual building has...

    ahh, whenever I scroll past that in google maps I think it would make a nice BAT. It's looking good.

    The main thing I notice, which also happens on your other BATs too, is that the materials are not done very well. The roof for example is incredibly reflective, you can clearly see the penthouse being reflected in the roof.

    And then for nitelites I think the best way to do it is to separate the panes of glass that will be lit up from the ones that will not be lit up. The night texture would be entirely lit up (some parts brighter or darker than others, but all of the texture represents lit up windows) and then the dark windows have no self illumination at all.

    The way I normally do this is that I keep the windows all as one object. I give them a Multi/Sub-Object material, and this contains the window frames material, the day glass material, and the night glass material. Which parts get what texture is determined by the corresponding Material ID. The night glass material is a copy of the day glass, but with the self illumination turned on. Both day glasses use the same uvw map, and then the self illumination part of the night glass uses an additional uvw map set up channel 2.

    I find that this way my windows are easy to keep track of, it keeps my material editor more tidy, and it makes it really easy to switch between night and day since I just have to turn off the self illumination in the night glass material.
