Hey guys, I was wondering if there is any use for something like this

In my opinion, there is always use for urban parking lots for those who don't want to waste hundreds of tiles creating an american styled one. I would certainly find use for it, I´ve been using the same sets over and over in all my cities

@PaPa-J To make mosaics I pretty much just take a whole bunch of vertical pics of whatever scene I'm working on and I'll stitch them together using Photoshop (or you could even use paint). I'll use the down arrow and scroll down through the scene, and use print screen and paste each section into a new document in PS and move them around until they line up perfectly.

Two announcements tonight!

Kingdom of Rota--city journal

Currently resolving some technical difficulties with a super special treat I have for an upcoming entry! In the meantime, I'll leave a few teaser screenshots:

To those who haven't joined in with the fun, here's the CJ's home page:

SimCity 4 Map-making

Been upgrading and polishing my map-making skills! I'm not quite ready to go advanced with SimCity 4 Terraformer (still gotta figure out how to install it) and extracting full detail terrain elevation data (definitely the most counter-intuitive part), but been wanting to such that I can fill the gaps in terms of underrepresented world regions. For the time being, I'm making my maps out of carefully selected terrains to ensure maximum quality obtainable from 8-bit grayscale maps  Currently my focus is in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in particular, and the Caribbean in general.

Currently, I'm not open to taking map requests, but do plan to do so in the foreseeable future once I take care of some RL commitments successfully and have honed my skills enough.

Maps made:

* Aguadilla, Puerto Rico: freshly published!

* Western Puerto Rico: map pack that was published about two months ago, but which I expect to update it as my skills evolve. Those interested in the northwest part, which features Aguadilla, are advised to use the new upload.

* Humacao, Puerto Rico: also published and my most successful one in terms of downloads. Keep 'em coming!

* Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: maybe not as successful as I hoped, but it's understandable, given the limited reach of its landmass. Even then, it's a nifty location with very forgiving terrain and a smooth tapering of the sea bottom, perfect for those who want to recreate marine scenes!

Maps under development:

* La Altagracia province, Dominican Republic: this map will expand from Punta Cana towards the west and the south, where I'll include the cities of Higüey, Boca de Yuma, San Rafael de Yuma, Otra Banda and Las Lagunas de Nisibón. If all goes well I'll also throw in Isla Saona

* Samaná Peninsula, Dominican Republic: another touristy map of the Dominican Republic, more mountainous than any of the major cities and towns.

* Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: the capital and main metropolitan area of the Dominican Republic, and the largest city of the Caribbean islands!

* San Juan, Puerto Rico: the capital and main metropolitan center of Puerto Rico. This one will take longer because its terrain is very challenging to develop with 8-bit grayscales I can download from NASA's Global Data Explorer. The area has numerous wetlands and floodplains, flush with the sea level, but not too far south the terrain rapidly becomes steep and tall, it's difficult to strike a balance between both without getting an excessive level of benching. I'm aware of the existence of a map made by the New Horizon Productions team, but it does a very poor job at rendering the lowlands: lots of very flat terrain that appears as water, and poor definition of the rivers.

* Ponce, Puerto Rico: the largest municipal population of Puerto Rico outside of the San Juan metropolitan area, and a historically important city center. This one experiences the same technical challenge of San Juan, but to a more extreme degree due to its northern boundary including Cerro Punta, Puerto Rico's tallest summit. I'm aware of the existence of a map made by the New Horizon Productions team, but like the one of San Juan, it suffers of having very flat terrain that appears as water, and poor definition of the rivers.

* Caguas, Puerto Rico: one of the major suburbs of San Juan, this city is the largest fully inland municipalities of Puerto Rico, with a population of 140,000 inhabitants and boomburgs to its eastern side.

* Puerto Rico outlying islands pack: this pack will contain the three largest outlying islands of Puerto Rico: Mona, Culebra and Vieques. Keep an eye out for these, as they're likely some of the easier low-hanging fruit for me to develop!

* Virgin Islands pack: this will feature both the British and U. S. Virgin Islands, with a clustering of the islands to the north in two maps (US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands), as well as the island of Santa Cruz separately.
