Beautifully done.  Loved looking at the photos, love the marina, etc.  Great layout.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for helping me with modding and lotting! This BAT will have several uses thanks to your excellent work. I will upload the model tomorrow *:thumb:

Beautiful!
I'll probably export some tree grates in the next update of my "Street DLC."

Thanks!

1) The water mod is the VIP Terrain mod.

2) The bridge comes from the Glenni's Eyecandy bridges set. I tweaked the FSHs by separating it down the middle, hoping this would give it a lift-bridge look.

3) Could you please rephrase your question? I don't know what you're referring to.

I overrode the Maxis Lua logging functions as a test, the game is very chatty. Maxis logged every advisor and tutorial script load, plus a few lines of automata stuff.

I haven't decided if this is too chatty, but adding an INI file and code to detect and ignore the Maxis output seems like overkill. It does have the advantage of making print calls work outside fo a script function, which would be useful for debugging.

Sorry for the delay, my windows was crashing the last few days, I couldn't even open the calculator (A lot of BSOD & explorer.exe class not registered error).

I bought this PC in 2020 (Ryzen 3600/GTX 1650 Super), and it'll probably stop working soon (Or not). Buying new components would cost me around $971 (RTX 5060/Ryzen 7900X, etc). I only use this PC to export BAT's to SC4; I don't play any other games, so I'm not sure it's a good investment. *:D

I mean as long you don't have any hardware error, I see no point in changing hardware.  Your PC is still modern. Don't believe what the manufacturers or vendors tell you, there are no real reason to upgrade.

Windows crashing doesn't surprise me at all, we've had several windows partition just stop working at work.

What you can do is backup your data (well, everyone should backup their data anyway) and do a fresh windows install.

It's not uncommon for Windows to crap itself after a few years of use.

I was playing sc4 and some other games fine with Bazzite, even newer games, but I need some SC4 tools, so I went back to Windows. I am on a 2018 PC with Windows 11, a fresh install, and everything seems fine :ooh:. My motherboard is supported, but my CPU isn't, and I don't have any problems.

Sometimes updates break something after a few years, so I think a fresh install would definitely be a solution; just make a backup to a USB drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox. Hope everything goes fine.

Well....It's the result of a complicated montage of JENX's sidewalks, overlays and textures. I don't think it's possible to release them.

Forgive my ignorance, but does this list of LUA functions (?) allow you to access useful information for the player to carry out his simulation, or does it allow you to manipulate existing scripts (?) or even create new ones (I'm thinking of “dofile() -- ‘tutorial'big.city.lua’ --”, for instance)?

You're right, I also consider my current hardware acceptable for the use I give my PC. I don't know if I should spend $1,059 right now on a PC that I use solely for this hobby. The good thing is that everything would render 150% faster *:D. I have until today to make a decision before the Amazon deals run out.

What worries me about sticking with my current PC is that I've had to reinstall Windows on my PC about four times in the last two years (the last one was about five months ago). Every week I get several blue screens of death when starting or shutting down the PC. It's strange considering I have original Windows with the latest updates, and my SSD and HDD drives are fine. I bought a 4TB one to make a backup just in case, since my biggest fear is that constant Windows crashes will destroy my hard drives and I'll lose all my data.

This happened to me today but I rebooted and used sfc /scannow and it seems to have fixed it: *:D

image.png.4083d155939af22532381ed3bae5415f.png

I've thought about opening a patreon but I don't think it would generate much interest since I'm focused on props and vehicles (I also have buildings, but they weren't made with SC4 measurements in mind and it would be very tedious to adapt them to the SC4 grid). The only different thing I have to upload to a patreon is 5 civilian ships per month and terrain mods *

RDQ props weren't made in standard grid sizes either, and yet we still found ways to lot them nicely. You could simply release the buildings as they are and leave it to each user to resize and lot them to their liking. The BuildingTweaker is so handy for this.

I still have odd corners left to fill in my region, so guess what? I'm starting a new pack of commercial corners. Here is the first one:

That's great, can work in the style of a few different countries - like colonial America, or just plain UK. I wanted to ask you, have you batted a building from Southend yet? I know you have done a couple from Essex. If you ever do, I'm sure I can think of a few high street buildings hat would fit your style!

It doesn't provide any new information, all of it would be available from reading the Lua code. You can already create new Lua files and override existing ones. I uploaded all of the Lua scripts in SimCity_1.dat to a GitHub repository to make them easier to browse.

The dofile command is used to load and compile a specific Lua file, this works for Maxis because the IID of their Lua scripts is derived from a hash of the file name. The retail version of the game uses the package system to control the order that Lua files are loaded, but during the game's development Maxis appears to have stored the Lua scripts as loose files.

It is hypothetically possible to add new tutorials, but I don't think anyone has ever tried to.

What is good when you have nothing to say is that you can always pretend to listen. Anyway it does not prevent to think!
