I bought the PC components 5 days ago, but for some reason the purchase hasn't gone through yet... Luck hasn't been on my side lately. *

I don't know if anyone is interested in a tutorial on how to get glass material transparency to work properly in SC4.

I love your props bro

I just finished building my new desktop PC and it was a very long challenge.  Took me months to get my motherboard because it was unreleased and delayed due to tariffs (I think).  Here's my story/build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/z278TW

As for the topic of this thread, I'm back to working on my Dept of Transportation building.  More to come hopefully in the next week or so.

Yeah the tariffs or other supply issues are messing up prices. I have been looking at building a new machine, but I have noticed that even things like cases are in short supply. I am not impressed with the available X870/X870E motherboards, the X670E boards look to be a better value and usually have better PCIe configurations. I also dislike the trend on X870/X870E boards to make the CMOS battery irreplaceable, which can become a problem if you keep a machine for several years.

Also, you can manually set the price for parts on your build on the PCPartPicker list. When editing your part list, click the gear icon next to the price. The dialog that pops up lets you override the retailer before purchasing parts, mark the part as purchased, and manually set the price you paid.

As for the topic of this thread, I am trying to decide how to expose grid data like pollution and terrain height to Lua. The Lua language has several ways to do that, and I am not sure what the best approaches are, probably a mix of techniques based on the data being exposed.
For pollution and other data that can be modified per-cell, get/set methods make the most sense. But I may have to include a note about the cell x/z indices starting at 0, unlike Lua arrays that start at 1. For terrain heights and other data that is read-only, it would make sense to expose the data as a Lua matrix/2 dimensional array.

What is good when you have nothing to say is that you can always pretend to listen. Anyway it does not prevent to think!

I'm working on a lore list for SimCity 4

Posting here as there may be viewers here that can add to this list or expand / provide more context for what has already been listed

The list includes this thread, which I ripped on. I created a monster!

I would certainly be interested, particularly if the technique isn't only applicable to BATs. Thank you.

You have the components I wanted but my budget didn't allow it. *:D

The cost of my components is $1.080 (Including my country's import charges). It's strange that Amazon hasn't charged me anything. I hope the delay has to do with the tariffs, because if they cancel my purchase, I'll have to wait a year or more for them to be just as cheap.

Fortunately it works with any type of model (The most important thing is the transparency color in the alpha channel and some parameters in the reader. :thumb:

Honda had the Clio (small car)

    Which give a nice anecdote:

Because Honda had the rights of the Clio name in Japan, when Renault wanted to commercialize the Clio there they had the change the name.

So the Renault Clio in Japan are named Lutecia. After the Roman name for the city of Paris (Lutetia) which is really cool.

At the request of a few commenters - I've started doing commentary over the recent video uploads. Let me know if there are any other topics you'd like me to explore as I record!

There's still a lot to do (align the textures, connect the parking lot entrances and exits to the road, install accessories, create a Breton flag, etc.) but the base is there.

You are like the King of making Parking Lots!  I hope you'll be able to share these one day.

Man, your maps full of FAR networks are quite impressive. I only have a few of those in mine, as lining them with W2Ws would be a nightmare. You deserve your handle, FTG!

@Krisman Lovely as usual. I like the terrace on the last pic. it's something I'm definitely missing from the Japanese rice paddies lots.

I dislike doing rural areas too.

Any reason you are not using wide radius curves?

You should solve that problem for yourself and release some FA WTWs. hahaha (not kidding!) :D

I know you can pump them out faster than I can, too!

It's shocking how quickly the holes fill up. Only takes a few minutes once you have all the right models.

And it's amazing letting your creativity run wild, just letting the networks run freely where they want, following the easiest and flattest paths thru the terrain.

Letting FA carry your main roads is like unlocking another dimension:)

    The region is shaping itself!
