Vancouver Block (as long as Gmax will actually render it without going non responsive)

Bear in mind there isn’t a lot gMax can render without going non responsive, but… does that actually mean it has crashed?

Windows changed the way it monitors apps and as a result those not updated to reflect this change, tend to show as Not Responding when in reality the App is simply busy. It’s not a good idea to move focus from gMax whilst rendering, that does tend to make the App crash. But before rendering bring up the Task Manager and keep an eye on the Process used by gMax. If the RAM/CPU usage is fluctuating, ignore Windows, leave things alone and just wait it out. If this stops for a couple mins, then most likely it has crashed.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

As I fuss with diagonal seaport stuff, here's something I picked up on: The scale of existing ploppable ships. Here's a quick side-by-side of some of the notable ones out there, alongside my own little conversion set. The outlier is obviously SM2's supertanker, which comes in shorter than PEG's ploppable freighters.

My tanker and container ship conversions come in around 16 tiles long when plopped orthogonally.

I am wondering  if you plan to release those boats and share them with us on STEX, they look great.

The answer there is likely "Yes, eventually." Right now I'm still fooling around with a few things, and if I release them they're highly unlikely to be nightlit, as I am dumb and don't know how to do it. Right now I'm fussing with trying to make diagonal versions work, which is running into the problem of the LODs at the two furthest-out levels of zoom causing the ships to overlap adjacent seawalls and props.

We ran into the same problem with ship models.  And in all truth -- it would be the same with any model.  I sometimes like to add props directly to the models during the lot building process.  But the LOD's will get you every time !

I am very happy to see you working with diagonal harbors.  For so long, people have simply accepted the limitations of diagonal docks, seawalls, etc, etc.

GOOD LUCK, Mate !

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Pop Culture Reference time!

EDIT: This would make more sense with an actual image, wouldn't it?6426282d3375d_CorenPoint05PeepShowreferences.jpg.50b9a6ebfe84a0b46b66e08ac76d37c9.jpg

Seminal British Sitcom Peep Show, a tale of two men struggling with modern life and relationships and their mutual contempt. co-dependence.
When I reference "the Conquest of Corrigan" I of course am referring to the characters' interest in Military History, not his tragic love life.
Although the original model for "Apollo House" was for a hospital,  it has more than a passing resemblance to residence in the show, which is in Croydon, down the road from me.

Did you find a solution, out of curiosity?

I admit to knowing virtually nothing about how LODs work. I'm a baby BATer.
