it's the rule of the SC4 community

And of course that is above the law ..... I forgot ..... man, what a nonsense.
I'm the author of my models and I and only I forgive the rights to it. And if only one stone is changed, it is punishable.
It does not matter if this is usus or not.
The studs will not be made in SimCity and I'll prove it to you. End of the discussion.

Whilst I agree with you, this ONLY applies to your models.

Tyberious has quite clearly stated that he has not altered your models, he has just used them as part of his work. A relot is very standard practise around here, as in it's something that's gone on since the beginnings of this community. Provided your actual model is not re-distributed, anyone is free to use it in their works and upload a lot with it to the exchanges, linking back to your original models as a dependency.

On the subject of law, you might want to look at the EULA for the game and it's associated tools. You'll quickly see the ownership rights of everything created using the tools of Maxis; SC4BAT / PIM / Lot Editor, are actually given to EA/Maxis. That's what happens when the world sees everything in the vain of lawyers and control, nobody benefits from this. Thankfully EA have never to my knowledge enforced this, but then we're not making money distributing anything either. The point being, I for one prefer the community we have based on sharing and respect over one of copyrights and lawyers, it's done us a lot more good in the long run.

Now, personal feelings aside, time to put my Moderator hat on...

This is not the place for these discussions, this thread is dedicated to discussing works in progress. I kindly ask that any further discussion not directly pertaining to this matter, be done elsewhere. If any party wants to open a new thread under the SC4 Custom Content forum (probably the logical place), I'd be happy to move the relevant discussion into that thread.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

With regard to the post(s) on the previous page re permissions, etc. I think the conversation has become somewhat convoluted and overlaid with a series of misinterpretations (imagine that happening on the internet, of all places *;)).

Silurs initial post refers to re-purposing PEGs work.

Pegasus' downloads came with the completely ridiculous and completely unenforceable disclaimer meaning that you could not reuse in any way shape or form even for your own purposes:

"This product is the exclusive property of Pegasus Productions and SC4Pegasus.Com. This product is expressly provided for entertainment purposes on authorized download pages. This product may not be altered, reused or redistributed in any way. Approvals for modification and commercial licenses can be requested via email at licenses@sc4pegasus.com."

I note that there are other discussions bubbling up to the surface around the site; and, my two cents....making changes to someone's model (either re-scaling, re-texturing or altering the actual model in any way) requires the author's permission to upload the changed version. Simply using an existing model as a linked dependency is standard practice. It is always polite to let the owner know out of courtesy, but isn't necessary.

At any rate, back to topic: JulianMIA, the peek-a-boo tunnel dressing is truly like one of those before and after shows on TV *:) *:thumb:

Edit: @JulianMIA, can I ask where that HD palm behind the bus shelter comes from? It's very realistic *:ohyes:

That is part of the tropical flora pack from @flunight, the short.coco.nucifera2 to be exact!  I used to ignore the leaning / falling palms as being too beachy but I realized, living in Miami, that they are everywhere and are just as amazing as the straight ups.  I just started using them to nice affect.

Been rebuilding and adding to my plugins folder after a long layoff but like always my attention is drawn away from the task at hand by the NAM always the first thing I play with after a long layoff

@JulianMIA Nice, you've put it too good use. The tunnel texture is very cohesive with the overall textures you are using in your city.

Btw got a question for you, where did you get that RRW ballast texture? I've installed the latest NAM(v.36) but there doesn't seem to be a retexture option for the RRW in there.

Thanks!  That diagonal tunnel is going to be even more handy than I thought in the beginning.

There aren't any options for changing balance or setting the underrail in the NAM itself, true.  The actual gray ballast around the tracks is part of the RRW reskin which is not officially released yet but is around.

I wanted continuity of ground in all of the my rail areas as opposed to having any grass at all so to get the whole effect I had to do two other things:

1.  I changed out the underrail first from the brown dirt default to the dark gray gravel that would compliment the reskin ballast texture.

2. Then I realized that interior tracks, untouched by another lot, had no underrail, neither did curves and switches, had grass under them still.  So once I had settled on a particular underrail I actually changed my entire terrain to match the underrail - again because I did not care about the grass.  This is the only way I could figure out to achieve the look of the rails that I wanted.

Sorry maybe more info that you wanted!?!  I just wasn't sure what you were most interested in.  Rivit and rsc204 helped me out with all of it so I'm sure you could get whatever aspects of the set up you are interested in - the reskin or underrail or both.  lmk

BTW your tunnels and that interchange are going to look great when finished, I love building stuff like that!  That more complex the better....

Hello good afternoon to everyone. A few hours ago I started working on a tower that I have wanted to have on SC4 for a long time, 425 - 5th Avenue NYC.

I got with Sketchup since I do not have 3DMAX. I'm designing the main parts of the building. My question is.

Do you know with what tool can I design many windows at once? And how to create good textures without using images?

Thank you, I hope you like the idea of this work.

@ESP15 Hey, that looks like a great start! I suggest you start a new thread for your works in the BAT forum, that way we can give you detailed feedback.

In Gmax, Windows are usually Arrayed as Instances (regular spacing with the Array, all changes reflected on all windows with Instancing).

@CT14 Thanks for your advice, I hope I can do it. And right now I'm going to create a new BAT forum. And there I will be passing my progress. Thank you!

I saw a great artist Dedgren (David) on this website under SKYLINES. I think You can contact him...

I'm thinking here: https://community.simtropolis.com/profile/37137-dedgren/

His work has about 2.4 MG (models, textures and lots since 2008).

@korver

This is magnificent !!

Zahi Hawass could not have depicted it any better.  You've got it right down to the odd catchment pond along the edge of the floodplain.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !
