Thank you all for the kind words and support--we've managed to work out the last few issues, and the domain is in the process of being transferred over to the new hosting.  You'll see a note right on the front page of the site if you're still getting the old server (which may still be the case for a couple more days, since DNS takes time to propagate). 

Note that any LEX files that were uploaded after August 1st, or any comments made there will not be on the new server.  I've managed to retrieve the one file that was unfortunately uploaded after that date, and will have to manually re-upload and re-attribute it.

Just to let you both know, I've moved your posts over here to the dedicated topic for reporting SC4 Devotion issues and latest info. There was nothing wrong with asking in the CFI thread. That's a good catch-all place, but I feel it might be more visible here for @Tarkus as the SC4D Webmaster who regularly checks here.

Given the server relocation is currently in progress, it's likely how things are a little unstable at present until the migration and bugfixing is completely complete.

As a suggestion, it might be worth checking your "Spam" folder in case the validation landed there. (I know that can happen to email requests here at ST.)

@culliganman1, wait until we're back up and running on the new server.  Any password changes you make now while the site's still running off the old server won't stick, as the database for the LEX was already transferred back on July 30th.  Additionally, if you've registered an account on the LEX after July 30th, it won't be on the new server, and you'll need to re-register.  We'd shut those functions down on the old server if there were a way, but the LEX software does not have that option.

As of right now, the domain name is in the process of being transferred--the request went in on August 10th, and it may take up to 7-10 days for it to go through.

Double posting . . . but for a very pertinent reason.

SC4 Devotion is once again fully open.  The domain transfer went through while I was at work, ahead of schedule.  Thank you all for your patience and support through this roller coaster ride our site's been on for the past few months, and hope you enjoy the "new" SC4D.

That's a really great news. I like the new skin. Looks quite modern. One question:
Where is the "Bookmarks" menu?  

That helped me keep in mind a bunch of stuffs.

Anyhow thanks for your hard work on briging the site back!

No worries at all for double posting. We've eliminated that as a rule in almost every situation. (Only malicious use of it would cause us to step in with our Mod Hats on.)

For me, Devotion is there so it'll just be a matter of time.

I know when ST has hopped from one place to another some regions of the world take longer for the new IP DNS info to propagate. Seems you're in one such location so I can advise just trying back every few hours and it'll eventually show up.

There's two possibilities: as Cori mentioned, the DNS changes may not have propagated with your ISP as of yet (which can take up to 48 hours, though usually less), or (less likely) you have the old version of the site cached, in which case clearing it in your browser would give you access to the new server.  Based on what I'm seeing, about 10% of ISPs out there are still pointing to the old server.

Brilliant news! It really is wonderful to see SC4 Devotion back online again.

We were all deeply concerned for a while there. It did seem rather dark and dismal, and the prospect for a smooth transition seemed doubtful. But through sheer teamwork and determination, you've turned a potentially disastrous situation around for the better. Safe to say how SC4D is in far much better hands now under new ownership with community interests at heart. Here's to many more years as SimCity 4 continues to live long and prosper now and into the future. This bodes very well.

For the DNS propagation, just to add how there's a status checking site which should give an indication if your region is yet to update. This appears to apply separately for the main domain and the wiki subdomain. Once updated, it might help to restart your computer and possibly perform a force refresh (Ctrl+F5) in browser.

It's not working for me. The site Cyclone Boom linked above shows it's working, but I've tried literally every trick imaginable and I'm still getting the old site. I'm guessing my ISP isn't registering changes because of the DNS and IP block still ongoing on sites like 4chan...

@Wiimeiser (and anyone else that still gets the old server after 48-72 hours), if you haven't already, you might try an end run around your ISP's DNS servers and use one of the many Public DNS servers.  Check out this page here:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-and-public-dns-servers-2626062 .  Once you've read it and make a choice, click on the "Guides and Tutorials" link off to the left side and scroll down, you should also find an article titled "How to Change DNS Server Settings" if you need it.

 

@Tarkus, I think everyone would agree that the SC4 community owes you and your staff a huge debt of gratitude, not only for jumping into the breach and taking ownership when needed, but also for the tremendous amount of work required to get the website transferred to both a new hosting service and a new server, as well as doing a site refresh on top of everything else.  You certainly saved us from a disaster that would have rivaled, if not exceeded, the one when the Pegasus website blew up.

If you were working for some corporation, you'd probably be getting a nice raise, a fat bonus, and a paid vacation to Tahiti.  Unfortunately, all we can do is give you and your staff our deepest thanks.
