well what can I say... improved doesn't quite nail it down. it's more like... awesomized. yeah that's what it is. it's awesomized!

seriously, the current version doesn't just look better, it also looks much more credible than the early version.

btw, rei is now online... just saying, might have gone missed over the fact how this interchange has changed.

I recently reinstalled SC4 (because of NAM/RHW/this thread mostly) and started to play around with the RHW...

Man, thats hard. But I like the result :)

(Sorry, just noticed I forgot to turn off day/night cycle... if you want I'll take another picture with daylight)

th_Neu-Hamburg-27Mai151307291280.png

Tried to build an on/off ramp without using much space. Also, messing around with TULEPs for the first time. Took me about 2hrs to build (not much experience yet).

th_Neu-Hamburg-27Mai151307291307.png

A RHW 4-lane one-way roundabout. Maybe I'll add seperate on/off ramps later. Right now it's just an intersection between 2 RHW-4s and one RHW-6C.

Two closeups:

th_Neu-Hamburg-27Mai151307291372.png

th_Neu-Hamburg-27Mai151307291325.png

I'm trying to use the eyecandy puzzlepieces (like the arrows) as much as possible to create realistic scenarios. I really need smooth curves for RHW-6 and -8 though, I hate those sharp 45 degree turns.

Not really impressive since it's my first time using the RHW, which got soooo much better since the last time (one of the first versions I think).

But I think I found my new love ;) Expect more in the future.

A two lane bridge; part of a ringroad/beltway

around the CBD, passes over a massive ten lane highway which soon terminates in the downtown core.

I didn't think the RHW update was available yet...

It's not . . . mrtnrln is one of the developers, so not only does he have access to some of this stuff, he's made a good portion of it. ;)

Just one interchange today. I've changed the highway off to the right a little (it was a little too close to the edge for the next city over), but the main part is still the same.

the 90° turn on the elevated part... what size is it? 2x2? if so, where do I find it? I only find one with a wider radius

It's a while since I built that, but I think I just dragged a 90 degree turn. Much like the ground ones it does it automatically. It did some weird things to me too. Playing around with it for a bit seemed to help.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I see many decent interchanges here, especially Edman2012's first attempt. Your first attempt has produced a rather nicely-done cloverstack interchange.

I have begun, after my long absence, to unlock the full potential of RHW 4.1, and the full potential is rather amazing, and poised to be even more so come RHW 4.2, which will be a great improvement (make no mistake, there is much more that needs to be done in terms of RHW development). I would like to showcase an interchange in one of my new cities, Ashcroft.

This particular one is a Semi-Directional T interchange, and it is of a new variant that I have designed to save space and still provide for fast traffic flow. Details of the specific improvements would be too cumbersome, so here it is to see after initial construction, with trees added:

And secondly, a supplemental picture depicting the area after development with traffic commuting at night:

I'm not stranger with the RHW, but I don't experiment with it much. So this is actually my first rhw cloverleaf.

Mannassi-interchange.jpg

It was going to be a trumpet, but i went along with a fourth end to give the future development over there a connection to the main city. Not perfect or especially eye catching, but I think it works.

Okay, so I'm a bit hesitant about using RHW as my main freeways in my city (so difficult and time consuming, and every time I use RHW, I take up the whole tile), but today I started using RHW in anticipation of the new RHW that should be released soon (double decker freeways!). So here's my first interchange and it came out better than I expected (but its still a mess) :P

At least you're practising, which is essential to making great interchanges.

The lack of curves in some areas makes it rather messy, but it's still a good job for a first-timer.

As of that Sinkhole to China Bug, I can contact the NAM Team about that to see what's up. However, I know a workaround: Use flattened terrain, and if that doesn't work, transition the RHW-4 to One-Way Road, then transition that to MIS.
