This is my version of a cloverleaf.

This is an interesting interchange.

Made this roughly 5-6 years ago.

Wow very confusing for a driver though!

Well, it's been a while since I have updated here. A new interchange with a new design, thanks to the new RHW:

I just needs some accelleration lanes and smooth curves and it will be perfect ;)

What are accelleration lanes?

Also, i wanted to use smooth curves, but space was a little pressed in this pic, so I wasn't able to.

Those little ramps on that little road must make for some challenging driving.

Acceleration lanes, or merge lanes, allow traffic from an onramp to merge with the traffic on the main lanes. This lane will disappear at the end of the merging zone. These lanes also allows drivers to build up speed before merging into fast moving traffic. For instance, the rightmost lane at the pictures below is an accelleration lane:

Here's my attempt at a Pinavia. A bit oddly shaped, and there's only two roads going into the center, but I like it.

A new unique interchange in my Riverton Region:

interchange2.jpg

The reason for the design is that Main Highway 6 and Toll Highway 10 both start here before heading west. I wanted to provide full access to both from Main Highway 7.

I'm gone for one weekend and suddenly everyone creates all these awesome interchanges. Great job!

@Will12 (your last post): Nice T, I like how you somewhat used the terrain instead of just completely elevating the flyovers, but I'd lose the walls. Also, smoother slopes where your avenue tunnels are would look better. Ever considered a slope mod?

I may make signs for the ERHW3 and the Double-Decker RHW sometime soon (If I can get measurements and if I'm not busy)

Thanks. That was just a quick interchange and I think I do have a slope mod I just got those walls and was experimenting with them.

Experimenting with the new RHW

I may make signs for the ERHW3 and the Double-Decker RHW sometime soon

Your T's look quite impressive, so is your DDRHW Diamond.

I can deduce the following from your pictures:

- An RHW-4 L2 D1 Ramp is needed; If that were made, it could spare yourself having to go down and up with part of your T.

- Coincidentally, you managed to photograph a vehicular collision.

I know the exact heights and widths for all the RHW networks: For the DDRHW, its lower deck is 15 meters tall, and it upper deck is 22.5 meters tall. For all the other ERHWs, they have the same height: 15 meters. Each lane is about 4.375 meters wide. The RHW also came with a set of sample textures; You can also get width-related measurements of of those. Hope it helps with your signage.

Awesome, cool and thanks! Very helpful info! :thumb:

P.S. I noticed the collision after I uploaded the pictures :rage:

I used to play SC4 years ago, and recently re-discovered it with NAM and RHW, and it's awesome!

Here's some of my interchanges.

I490_T-bone1.jpg

This trumpet interchange is the eastern end of Interstate 490, an auxiliary Interstate highway that currently runs in a western direction from Interstate 90 in West Springfield to the downtown CBD in the nearby city of Rochester. It doesn't connect directly to I-90 in Rochester though... heh.

Route128-WesternTerminus.jpg

This partial-cloverleaf interchange is the western terminus of Route 128, a partial beltway that runs through the CBD of Rochester.

Route128-Exit1BA.jpg

Exits 2A and 2B along Route 128 mainly serve a small but densely populated high-wealth neighborhood in southeastern Rochester. Most of the neighborhood's residents work in neighboring Greenfield, making this the most congested portion of the expressway.

Route140-TivertonIndustralParkConnector.jpg

Yet another partial cloverleaf that connects Route 140 (the Tiverton Expressway) with the Tiverton Industrial Park The RHW-4s on the left run along the perimeter of the industrial park, which carefully placed at-grade intersections and traffic circles to manage traffic flow. The off-ramp from 140 used to lead to an avenue with an at-grade intersection, but that caused traffic nightmares so I had to implement the current parclo to parclo connector system.

Glad to hear the RHW is to your liking, but,...

Strictly speaking, what you have is NOT a partial cloverleaf; It's a modified T-Interchange, reminiscent to a Trumpet Interchange.

THIS is a parclo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partial_cloverleaf_interchange

please dont laugh XDD

my first use of RHW :)

Your interchange is a good example of what could be described as an "Incomplete Cloverleaf", not a "Partial Cloverleaf". Your picture implies that there's room for expansion and you might end up making what's known as a Cloverstack.

-----

I can tell you're both first-time users, but I'll give you a few pointers:

- Unless you're in a rural area and can afford the space or if you intend on making them compact enough, avoid using cloverleaf-style loops. In a really dense area, cloverloops eat up immense amounts of space.

- Flyovers are more superior in urban environments on the simple fact that they take up less space. Plus, in real-life interchanges, cloverloops could have a low speed if the loop itself isn't big enough.

- Try looking at other interchange designs for other ideas. You can start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interchange_(road)

Well, I said kinda good, since it looks aestectially pleasing (and it does allow long enough merge lanes and smooth curves) and kinda bad since it's not fully connected and the east-to-north ramp looks a bit odd (but then again, that was done to allow long enough merge lanes between this interchange and the SPUI just west).

Specifically, that's called a half-clover interchange. There's one right near my house (the Wikipedia "notable example")...the weaving is quite a problem at times; I've made a couple in SimCity so far, with extra lanes to minimize the issue:

118529108-4.jpg

118529107-4.jpgAlso, here's what I usually make now for urban T-interchanges (just think of it without the outer highway for the general example).

I usually avoid making setups that allow for weaving; Oftentimes, making a collector-distributor setup is the best way for mitigating that effect. Another way is making a Basketweave, but those can get pretty large.

Aside from that,... Who else enjoys timelapse videos?
