About This File

The Saint John Customs Building is a federal government office building in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The building is located in historic Uptown Saint John and is bound by Prince William, Water and Duke Streets. The building is actually the third Customs Building to grace the Saint John waterfront. The first Customs Building was lost, along with the rest of Saint John, in the Great Fire of 1877. After the fire, a bigger and better Customs Building was constructed. The second Customs Building was an architectural masterpiece that boasted ornate stone carvings, a large central dome and two towers. Sadly, in an act of architectural vandalism, it was demolished and was replaced with the current Customs Building in the late 1950s. All that remains of the second Customs Building is part of the massive stone foundation, which is being used as a retaining wall in the property's parking lot. The modern Customs Building provides space for 11 different federal departments and agencies: Veteran Affairs Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Industry Canada, Citizenship and Immigration, Canada Border Services Agency, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Department of National Defence, Environment Canada, Health Canada, Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Transport Canada.

The Customs Building comes to SC4 as a growable and plopable on a 4x3 lot. Three dependencies:

BSC Essentials (mandatory, query)

BSC Mega Props CP Vol01 (optional, planter, cars)

BSC Texture Pack Cycledogg Vol 1 (mandatory, overlay textures)

I should add that the roof junk isn't exaggerated! There's a real mess up there on the real building. I presume that the hvac systems have evolved over time leading to the current roof junk excess.

lol I was going to comment on the excessive roof junk but if you say that's what it is, than that's what it is. great job on this nondescript, mid-century office block.

Aaah, another oldie finally found its way to the STEX - good to see this monster of roof junk here and not in the dreaded and depressing "The ones that never made it to the STEX" thread. Thank you for uploading and sharing it with us, it should be both a good filler for larger cities and a useful larger office building for small towns, plus it works well in pretty much every scenario thanks to its nondescript architecture.

...and since I see your comment: Glenni, you old slacker! :) When will we see some more cool stuff from you? You've grown lazy. :P

Thanks everyone. @Sejr I actually thought about it, but I work from photos for texturing and there really aren't that many around (or at least readily available) of the old Customs Building. Here's one of the few links to it (gorgeous building!)

Can you believe the federal government demolished this! What a tragic waste.
