About This File

Frosch Elementary is an elementary school with a slightly greater capacity than the Large Elementary School found in the game.

  • 5x4 elementary school lot.
  • MaxisNite and DarkNite night versions.
  • DarkNite requires the Day and Nite Modd.

This is an adaptation of a non-SimCity project, an elementary school designed for a triangular site in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The first render shows the main entrance and covered student waiting area, mural, and the relationship with the street.

The second render shows the playground. Train tracks are to the left, a small downtown is behind, and a neighborhood is to the right. The low brick volume is the gym/cafeteria/auditorium, which is in the basement along with the library.

Across from train tracks that run next to the site, there is a municipal parking lot and Frog Island park which has large sports fields.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Download either the DarkNite (DN) or MaxisNite (MN) version. If you're unsure, choose the MN version.
  2. Unzip the .zip and move its contents to Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins.
  3. SC4Lot files are descriptively titled. Remove the lot versions which you don't want. Do not remove any .SC4Model files.

Display 5/5: The product is clearly shown.

Overall Product: 4/5: The plaza behind the school is kinda bland and doesn't belong.

effort:3.5/5: honestly the plaza behind the school could of been better with maybe a playground or parking lot, and the ugly SC4 grass also could have been replaced.

usage: 4/5: The people who play Sc4 for a challenge will certainly enjoy this, but I don't think realism players will go for it.

Overall: 4.125
rounded: 4 stars

note: This file could of been a lot better if not for the bland plazas, other than that, it great!

Well this is a very nice surprise, and a great addition to our sc4 educational system. We can really use more additions to it. Thank you very much. I'll write some more about it in your thread.

I really dig the simplicity of form and attention to detail on all your work - excellent, as always

I guess for a 5x4 lot, SC4 players would not like the 'empty' playground and grass dominating so much like this one did. The uploader make sure the description is detailed enough to let all of us know the school really look like this in real-life, so who are we to complain? Not every lot needs to have busy details. Anybody complaining here is just not being fair, even though obviously this one ranks among the uploader's less impressive work, but overall I see simple elegance that is very appealing, and the model showcases superb realism as always.

Most elementary schools have playgrounds. Perhaps one could be added to the grassy area.

Apparently open space on a lot is underrated. At this point in my SC4 career, I usually remove all the unnecessary crap from a lot so that it compliments the density I'm trying to achieve. The end result is not unlike how this lot appears already, so less work for me!

I love it Jason, I'll happily use it in place of any number of the existing overused school lots.

Apparently everybody who complain there is no playground fail to realize that the open area itself is already the playground, as written on the description.

I like the building a lot! It has a very clean and "sober" design, and it looks just like a school, too. Everything about the building is rather subtle and simple - I see how this can look a tad sterile to some. This is probably due to the fact that it originates from an architectural render, which is usually free of clutter to showcase the architecture.

In any case, the Lot Editor is simple enough to use, and we have a free content exchange right under our noses - so let's see less complaints and more lots, I say!

AS for people saying about 'play grounds' most of the Schools in the UK had their play grounds/equipment taken up in the late 80's due to insurance reasons. All I ever had through most of my school life was a yard that only had people in it for an hour or so a day and the rest of the time would have been empty.
