Hi, Sorry to hear of the passing of ANonnyMoose. So sad. I am an elderly man. I love SimCity4Deluxe and it runs on a stand alone computer without any connectivity to the outside world. It runs on Windows XP but the computer is getting old, like me. I no longer have the Windows XP disc. I have a second computer that is connected to the internet. I want to continue to play this game if my stand alone computer crashes. I work as a full-time volunteer on the suicide hotline, and SimCity4D is THE main pleasure in my life away from the stress of crisis counseling. Question: Is it safe, legal and not a scam to buy Windows XP from Amazon and like sites? Will Microsoft sell Windows XP to people like me who run the game on stand alone computers that require no support? Will SC4D run on Windows 10? Question 4. If I got a copy of the Windows XP disc and with a legit serial number, could I download it onto my connected computer and then how would I transfer it to the stand alone gaming computer which does nothing but provide a way of playing SC4D? Can I do it with a flash drive? I am not in the best of health. I am also not very computer savvy, unlike ANonnyMoose .. I would be happy to make a donation to Simtropolis if that would help. Hi everyone. Is anyone else having a problem with the STEX "search" function? When I type a word in the box [restaurant, for example] I get the answer: no results for your search. It doesn't "seem" to matter what word or string of words I use. I have made sure I am searching in the STEX and not Forums or other category, but am having no luck. I used to be able to use the search function and obtain results. Any information or advice? Thanks a million!!!

For some reason I cannot access content using your search box. It will identify the number of hits but there are no pics or content to peruse and/or download. Is this connected to the site being down recently? Thanks in advance for any responses!

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this, but can anyone with Ilivereader change some lots [20 in all] from residential to parks for me for a fee? The creator did not make them as buildings-as-props so I cannot use the Lot editor to do this and cannot run Ilivereader on my PC without ctds. Or is the another method for changing the value of a lot from residential to a park using some kind of mod or something. I'm guessing this would be tedious and labor intensive for someone who has the skills and so would be willing to offer compensation for the trouble. Or maybe such things cannot be done technically or within the rules of Simtropolis??? Thanks for any and all responses. The creator does not seem to be active or I would just ask him.

Thanks A Nonny Moose and Yellow Fin ! The site I downloaded from is called SimCity Devotion. The file was some Hungarian Buildings as Props created by Haarlemmergold [MegaPropSet]. I thought this was a fairly respectable site and BAT creator. ? Never heard of 'false positives' before. Will research this Yellow Fin. Thanks. And don't have real-time [deluxe] version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. - sigh- . Nice to see you still mentoring here A Nonny Moose. I'm still playing SC4D. Wonder if there are many of us left?

Question. I am running SC4D on a stand alone computer not connected to the Internet. I downloaded some game objects onto a laptop that is connected. Then I moved them to a thumb drive... moved the thumb drive objects to the stand alone computer for use in the game. Tonight while running a Malwarebytes anti-malware scan, several of these files appeared to be infected with Trojan.D... [Haar Megaprops Hungarian... etc. They were quarantined on my laptop with internet connection. But have the trojans now been downloaded into my stand alone gaming computer? It is running an unsupported OS [Windows XP] and no longer has access to malware updates, virus updates et.c. A malwarebytes scan of this computer showed nothing harmful [of course the antimalware scan is not updated and out of date]. What should I do or is it too late to do anything because I am doomed so to speak. Thanks for any advice.

Thank you for your thoughtful and detaiedl reply! I am a bit of a $%&^! where computers are concerned, so please correct me if I have not understood you correctly. Are you saying that I can use my low-end laptop to register Cities XL and my stand-alone unconnected desktop to play the game? Do I need to insert the XL disc into my low-end connected laptop to register and then . . . reload the XL disc into my stand alone gaming PC to play? I cannot connect the stand alone to the internet at all since it is still running Windows XP, which is no longer supported. Forgive me if the answers to these questions are already contained in your excellent reply to me or that my questions are stupid. I don't believe my laptop is technically capable of running the Cities XL game. I want to thank you for taking the time to consider my questions and for your previous work on answering them.

I have a stand-alone computer with no internet connection. [Am using cheap laptop to pose this question]. Can I buy the Cities XL disc and just install it to play or does it require an internet connection in order to register it or meet some other requirement of the game creators? I seem to require I had to register or something [internet connection essential] in order to play SimCity 4D even after buying the game disc. Thanks in advance for any information. I really appreciate it!!! My current gaming computer has Windows XP OS and I disconnected it from the internet when XP was no longer supported. Just use that computer for games now.

Joke with Two Parts. A bishop advertises for a bell ringer. A man shows up with no arms. Bishop wants to give him job but asks how the man can ring the bell with no arms. I saw the new SimCity 2013 for sale at Walmart. But the box says: "requires persistent internet connection." I've read that offline play is possible now. Does one need to buy a special SimCity 2013 for that? . . . one that doesn't say "requires persistent internet connection"? Or how does that work? Is it possible for a mere SIMTROP member to offer some kind of prize as a reward for a BATTER who makes some kind of customer content? Or as an incentive for the time and effort involved in creating a BAT, could one have some kind of a contest? For example, I am not BATTER but use the LE. Could I offer some kind of prize for someone to make me some signs I could use on SC buildings? There are so many BAT signs for streets, billboards, highways but so few for buildings. In model railroading one can get a set of "decals" for generic signs like DINER HOTEL DRUG STORE FIVE and DIME and so on. Apologies if someone has asked and answered this before.
