For some reason, I can't change tax percentages. Each time I try, the tax goes completely zero. I have SimCity 4 Deluxe and I've added a few mods including Network Addon.

Currently I have a Windows 10. I bought my first 10 in early 2019 and then a new one in early 2021 after the first one broke down. It was mad slow from the beginning actually, could barely scroll Facebook and Instagram. This second one has worked just fine. It also went just fine running SC4 on both computers (besides speed on the first one), and then transferring all my data from SC4 from the first to the second, after I bought SC4 at GOG in early 2020. Now I've been given the option to install Windows 11 on this computer, all for free. There's only one problem really: Is it possible to run SC4 on Windows 11? Is it possible to transfer current SC4-data (cities, regions, mods etc) and keep running it on Win11? Or will I have to start the whole game over, or even worse, won't I be able to run the game at all? Does anybody know about this? Does anybody have any experience of this? Windows 11 is brand new I know. That's why I'm sceptical that SC4 will work on it, or that anybody has experience of whether it does or not.

I just recently now saved my game by accident, by pressing ctrl + S thinking I would plop up a school (realized the next second that it was ctrl + K). As soon as I pressed S, a small window in the middle of the screen came up saying "game has been saved", giving me no choice in the matter as to be sure I wanted to save it. I haven't played SC for a long time (played frequently during 2020/early 2021), and I was just trying a few new mods on a default in-game city (in the region Berlin to be exact), so fortunately, nothing severe happen. But this means that I spent all this time on a serious project, not knowing I could've completely ruined it any given second, just by pressing S instead of K or any other letter. I often fast-forwarded a few years planning ahead, only to go back to the last stop now knowing what to do next. I find this unacceptable. I thought ctrl + S only applied for Microsoft Word, Excel and other similar programs. I have no memory of it ever applying to a game. Anyway, it totally should not be there, period. I find it utterly threatening to serious projects. Perhaps there's a mod fixing it, much like the mod warning me about saving the game right at the same time as leaving it (that one's been very useful).

How to prevent Ctrl+S for saving?
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Excuse my late answer. Well, in my opinion, the mod should disable both ctrl+S and ctrl+alt+S, now that the latter doesn't update the region thumbnail (which I'd find catastrophic also). Some people however might like having a quick save, so for them, the latter might be suitable (I'd rather not have it though). But in that case, the thumbnail needs to be upgraded for them as well. I don't think anybody would like a false thumbnail. With that said, thank you for also disabling the latter, now that it would've eventually caught up with me as well. -

I just tested this mod that you created for me just now, and it worked. I can't be grateful enough, Cori. You really should make a mod page for it and not let it be just a file on this post. I find it to be one of the very most important mods for SC, period. -
Can I run SC4 on Windows 11?
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Thanks all of you for your replies. The way I see it, SC4 will very likely, and probably more likely in the future, work on Win11. That being said, I'm also free to keep Win10 for a good number of more years, and that's what I prefer so far. -
I've noticed that there are plenty of standard lots (residental etc) missing in Lot Editor. Can anyone explain why and what to do about it? After that, I'd like to find out how to change max residents on a lot. Some are way over-populated, and the neighborhood architecture doesn't fit well with the population size and/or density. I have Windows 10 and bought SC4 on GOG in spring 2020. The game works just fine and so do numerous mods. I haven't used LE except for checking out what I can do with it, only to find out that probably half of the standard lots are missing.

Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool doesn't work
The Angry Convert posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I have SC4 on Windows 10, bought at GOG.com, and NAM and numerous other mods added. It all works just fine. However, when I just now tried to change mass transit usage and base network capacity (both from medium to high), there comes up a small window saying "Error deleting file(s). SimCity4 is probably running. At first I turned off Gog at the bootloaders at msconfig and Norton Internet Security, and restarted the computer, but TSCT still doesn't work.- 11 Replies

Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool doesn't work
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Thank you very much @z1. There's one problem however; I can't find any Data-folder nor any TSCT-conf file in the Program folder. Thank you also @twalsh102. Unless this goes any further, this is the end of it for me. I'm otherwise happy anyway with SC4 and NAM. I just simply wanted to see if TSCT works.- 11 Replies

Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool doesn't work
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Thank you for your response. At first I checked "Run as Admin", which in itself seemed to work. Unfortunately, that didn't work all the way when it came to using TSCT. Then I went on to check the log at TSCT and found this. I also found the Traffic Plugin Z file in the Documents folder. However, I didn't find it in TSCT's Program x86 folder. I found some other files in there that I perhaps should copy and transfer to Documents. But then the question is: What files exactly should I transfer? And do I then have to replace the original files in Program?- 11 Replies

Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool doesn't work
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Whte_rbt, you really should've explained what I should do if I am an admit, and if I'm not. Not just simply ask if I'm an admin with no follow-up. Your reply hasn't been any helpful at all this far, and frankly, it would've been better to not reply at all given that you haven't really said anything. But anyway, I forgot to mention that this little window in the middle pops up everytime I start TSCT. I have to add that "Mass Transit Usage" and "Base Network Capacity" both immediately switch to "Medium" as soon as I click OK.- 11 Replies

Can I run SC4 on Windows 11?
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I forgot to add that I have numerous mods that are 10+ years old and completely un-upgraded since then, but yet they've worked just fine on both computers. But besides that, I'm still sceptical that the game will work on Win11. Anyway, it feels unnecessary to take the risk since I'm happy with the computer thus far. -
Neighborhoods abandoned due to commute time
The Angry Convert posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Lately, in 2 different cities, I've had the same issue with middle- and upper-class neighborhoods being massively abandoned due to "commute time". The whole nighborhood becomes unemployed, then abandoned, and then occupied by lower-class residents. All of this despite a lot of "black" streets, avenues and highways, public transport and local services (schools, clinics etc), high desirability and land value, and plenty of both commercial and/or industrial jobs right around the corner within walking distance. I have installed the Network Addon Mod and then some other mods. It's possible that the NAM can have caused this, but otherwise it should've prevented this due to the complete extermination of traffic jams and such.- 22 Replies

Zoning residential areas by income
The Angry Convert replied to ollysteph's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
If anybody sees this response 7 years later, I just a found a mod I think would solve the problem for you. It sure did for me. I found it in this thread, where there are more instructions and personal reviews on the mod. WARNING: This mod is NOT compatable with CAM. In this thread there's also another mod called "No kick out", although I prefer not using it. WARNING: This mod is NOT compatable with CAM neither, if I don't remember the list wrong.- 10 Replies

Wealthy Sims in low-desirability areas & vice versa. Why?
The Angry Convert posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have a city where there are a lot of middle- and upper-class sims in areas with no services (schools, clinics etc), low desirability and land value. I also have a lot of low-income sims in areas with plenty of services, high desirability for the middle- and upper-class and high land value. These sims tend to live in a lot of formerly middle- and upper-class homes that were abandoned for other reasons (discussed in my previous topic in the link below here). It's been like this for about 5-10 in-game years I think. This city has no college or university, which is known for automatically "turning the whole city green". This city has however had quite equally high demand for all classes of residents recently. The population is about 48.000 (about 20.000 lower-class, 24.000 middle-class and 4.000 upper-class) and has about 16.000 commercial and 18.000 industry. It has no neighboring cities. It very recently lost thousands of lower-class sims for unknown reasons, and gained about half as many middle-class sims recently. No jobs disappeared however. How do I keep no-service areas predominantly low-income, and how do I keep the existing middle- and upper-class within high-service areas (since they're not leaving the city)? Maybe I just have to wait until the city becomes larger. Maybe that'll make people demand more services and such, and perhaps raise the crime rate city-wide and more so in no-service areas. The amount of crimes per month is about 16, which makes about 30 crimes per 100 residents. I considered that quite medium for a city this size. -

Neighborhoods abandoned due to commute time
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Of course not. But I kind of get it and I guessed a while ago that more hospital beds and school benches will create more middle- and/or upper-class jobs, although the buildings don't need more just for patients and students. Right?- 22 Replies

Neighborhoods abandoned due to commute time
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
OK, as I've understood it, people simply need more wealth jobs, not just around the corner but in the city as a whole, and also educational opportunities. After that, I guess all I can do is wait for more wealth jobs to appear and replace existing low-wealth jobs, a thus, wealthy people will return to their old neighborhoods. Whether or not that's the case, thanks for the help. I am hopeful this'll work.- 22 Replies

I can't change tax percentages
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Thanks all of you for the response. I tried changing taxes simple by clicking the arrow buttons, and it went just fine. However, I couldn't type in the numbers with the keyboard. I also tried using the tab and arrow keys like Jeffry suggested but that didn't work either. But thanks anyway.- 12 Replies

"Big City Tutorial" was mysteriously reset to original state
The Angry Convert posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
A few weeks ago, I started building on "Big City Tutorial" in the region Timbuktu. But now, earlier today, the city was mysteriously reset to its original state after having develpoed it for several weeks. It's more recent "suburbs", the 2 small ones to the north, were still in the same state though. They weren't reset to empty. A few times earlier, BCT has been shown in the region as an empty, flat tile. But then the city turned out to be just fine when I opened it, and then it showed in the region as usual. But this time, I opened it and it had really been reset to its original state. I had earlier today just managed to create my own region with the mod Landscape Designer. It went fine and I was real happy about it, until this happened. I'm extremely worried that this could happen again to any other city, even a city that's built from scratch. I had also just the other day installed the Network Addon Mod. It had a few bugs but it went quite alright. I also added the HighTech missing jobs mod today (link below), but I can remember visiting BCT once successfully in its current state after adding the HighTech-mod. I tried removing the mod from the plugin folder and then starting the game again, but BCT is still reset to its original state. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/22771-ih-missing-jobs-fix-update/ -

I can't change tax percentages
The Angry Convert replied to The Angry Convert's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The game's located in Program Files (x86), and I found DESKTOP-UnnamedComputerCode-config-log.txt in the Apps folder. I also bought SC4 on gog.com, so the whole game folder is located in a Gog-folder instead of EA Games, if that makes any difference. Now, is there anything I should change in the config log?- 12 Replies
