  5. Show us what you are working on in SimCity 3000!

The house and the first building were not from scratch, the house was only blocks with no textures or anything added to it and the other building was already made but without alot of details and paints, the remaining two were from scratch. I think its like a radio station or TV center, but I think it being a logistics center is more fitting after looking up the meaning! Thanks so much!
  6. Show us what you are working on in SimCity 3000!

  9. Maxis References

So I decided to spend some looking for some buildings that were never mentioned here (maybe some of them were mentioned idk), here is the list: (1) The Opera House is based on the Palais Garnier from Paris, France. (2) The university is based on the Washington University in St. Louis. (3) The light house is based on the Yaquina Head Lighthouse (4) The Tubing Facility high tech is based on the Building N-206 at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. (5) The "Orange Point Suites" house from the Europe set is most likely based on this building from Berlin, Germany. (6) The Zvenigorodsky Inc building is based on the Royal Nawaab from London, UK. (7) Four modern villas from the game are inspired by "The Villa Casa Casuarina" (also known as the The Villa By Barton G) (8) The Graham Apartments are based on this Barrington Plaza Apartments from LA. (9) The Primavera is probably based on Villa D'Este Houston, a highrise building in Houston, Texas.

The Goldman Building (CO$$$) is based on the Manhattan Building from Chicago, Illinois.

I am not sure if these were mentioned before, but The Lucky Lizard Lofts is based on the Eurotheum skyscraper from Frankfurt, Germany. The Galvin Corp is based on the 140 New Montgomery from San Francisco, California. And finally the Vu Financial is based on the 450 Sutter building from San Francisco, California.

I am trying to the real-life counterpart for Calvin's Happy Place Plaza, its a stage 8, $$ commercial building, based on something from Europe.

I've just checked the SimCity 4 building index, apparently Kanarowski & Co style is "Houston", which makes this a match ? link to the list: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4_tH08pH62NaG0tYWxaYVZiYkE/view
  14. Maxis References

This thread is a bit dead, so I will revive it with some stuff I found recently, I already made a SC3 thread about the real life references but its not a bad idea to bring this thread to life with some buildings that were not mentioned (I think)! (1) City Hall - Rhode Island State House (2) Palazzo Apartments - City Hall Post Office and Courthouse, New York City, NY (demolished 1939) (3) Bradbury Building - Bradbury Building (Los Angeles, California) (4) Hurt Plaza - 150 West Jefferson (Downtown Detroit, Michigan) (5) Wilkinson Tower - PSFS Building (Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) (6) Eugene Marazzani Memorial Plaza - Palmolive Building (Chicago, IL) - Asian Buildings: (9) Kochavatr Foundation - NEC Supertower (Minato, Tokyo, Japan) (2) Futa-Ishii Plaza - Shinjuku Park Tower (Shinjuku, Tokyo) (3) I-Den Theater - Tokyo's 109 department store (Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan) (4)

  16. Show us your Before/After Shots!

One of the things I love about SC3000 is the notable progress over the years, you can see how low $ residents and dirty industries disappeared and were replaced by better and cleaner buildings!
  17. Show us your Before/After Shots!

I made this today. Not really beautiful but you can see the differences !
  18. Midtown Manhattan in SimCity 3000

This is amazingly well done ! There are even taxis everywhere, just like real life NYC, I wonder from where you got all those buildings?
  19. SC3000 Unlockable Buildings ?

Thanks ! Apparently three of the buildings are in that list (the two farm buildings) and Bowling Accountancy.
  20. Introduce Yourself Here!

Greetings, I'm Adam! I've been playing city building games since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a skyscraper engineer but I switched interests over the years, now I am hoping to be an aeronautics engineer and future private pilot. My favorite SimCity game is 3000, I still play it to this very day, I also have SC4 on steam. I do play Cities Skylines from one time to another. I hope to have some great times on this forum, see you later!
