  1. A new expansion for Cities: Skylines has officially been announced! More info available here.
  2. Two mod requests, if anybody has the time: 1. A version of the 25 tiles mod that distributes the new areas evenly. All the current ones I've found so far place all the new tiles at the last milestone. As I usually play a natural playthrough without the Unlock All mod, I'd like to be able to expand my city more quickly rather than play with the default amount of land for the majority of the game. So, I could really benefit from a mod that spreads them out a bit more, with as many as 2 or even 3 new tiles unlocked on some milestones. 2. A mod that removes the restrictions on vanilla trees. Currently, all Conifer Trees are exclusive to Boreal maps, Palm Trees and Palm plants are exclusive to Tropical maps, and large bushes are restricted to Temperate and Tropical maps. Since they've gotten rid of the restrictions on the European buildings, these restrictions feel a bit arbitrary so it'd be nice to get rid of them.
  3. Shannanigan: WIPs & Stuff

I would just like to say that I'm thrilled with the bright and colorful look you're going for. I think a bit too many people in the C:S modding community make only dark and gritty building that clash a bit with the game's artstyle, IMO. I eagerly await the release of your Mighty Cone building!
  4. Ah, excellent. I can't vote on the poll but I WOULD vote for #3 if I could. Thank you for clarifying, for some I assumed the bridge meshes were public domain. I understand your reasoning, though it does seem a shame as I love that bridge mesh.
  5. I know requests are a no-go, but is there any chance in the future you might consider making eight lane roads and some variations? IMO it feels like the gap between six lane and 12 lane is a little bit big, and while Networks Extensions does have an eight lane road, I doubt they're planning on adding Bus/Bike/Tram variations anytime soon. Furthermore, they've already got a very nice bridge model you could use.
  6. How are the cul-de-sacs coming? I was understanding they'd be included in the same update as 2+2 National Roads but I haven't seen any mention of them since. Have they been canned?
  7. Honestly it doesn't bother me but I'm not exactly a realism stickler.
  8. No offense Bad Peanut, but maybe you should edit the first post of the thread to clarify you're no longer taking suggestions? It still says you are so that might be confusing some people.
  9. I would vote Option 1. It sounds like its operating on a similar principle to the Monorail station and it'd be the most consistent with it. The Monorail stations are easy enough to place.
  10. So errrm Floating Parks

I like the floating parks but to be honest I would much preferred big, functional Marinas with boats that actually sail. Here's hoping for the next expansion, "On the Waterfront".
  11. The buildings look fabulous, Avanya! There's one thing that bothers me, though; for some some reason CO decided to make the European Suburbs their own theme rather than include them with the base European theme. Guess in the meantime I'll go back to using the Building Themes mod to correct it.
  12. Do you think it'd be possible for you to recreate the 16-lane monster road created in the Road Modding dev diary? I'd like to have it just for novelty purposes. (also the sooner somebody figures out how to create toll booths, the better)
  13. Those are superb buildings! I'm glad CO has decided to work with creative geniuses such as yourself, Avanya.
  14. Would it be possible for someone to make a variation of the 25 tiles mod that distributes the additional tiles among all the milestones? At the moment, all 16 extra tiles are unlocked with the final milestone, but I'd like a version where all the tiles are interspaced throughout the other milestones instead of all bunched up at the end.
  15. Additional Public Transit

I mean no insult to the creator. Don't get me wrong, the model and texture look extremely high quality- but to me, for some reason the depot just looks out of place compared to the other assets in the game. It seems like the textures are too high-res, and I feel like it resembles a warehouse more than a depot. Not to mention, I'm not a big fan of the appearance of red brick on it.It just seems to clash with the sleek and modern Concrete Tracks. I suppose the same argument could be applied to the tram depot but I think that one seems more seamless, I'm not sure why. This is exactly what I was thinking! I eagerly await what you come up with!
  16. Additional Public Transit

To be honest my only real problem with the Metro Depot is that I personally think it looks kind of ugly.
  17. Additional Public Transit

Is there any way to disable the need for a Metro Depot? The Train and Monorail stations provide their own spawnpoints so I figure the Metro Stations should too.
  18. Dev Diary #5 has been posted, showing off Transit Hubs and intersection settings!
  19. Dev Diary #4 has been posted, showing off the Monorail!
  20. Dev Diary #2 has been posted, showing off Blimps and Cable Cars! Direct Link On a further note, CO apparently listened to the criticisms with the livestream and released a more concise video to provide some info on the new content.
  21. Additional Public Transit

I just tested this out, and it's true, but not all of them. It seems the default roads are still missing them.
  22. Additional Public Transit

Could we do visible every tunnel? I understand it'd be a lot of work, but it'd be so cool having properly visible tunnels for underground roads.
  23. Additional Public Transit

Will there even be much of a point to this mod anymore when Mass Transit come out? I mean, it's a very high quality mod, and some people may use it because they prefer the grittier aesthetic, but function-wise it seems to fulfill the same purpose as the Monorail, as an overground inner city railway. I'll probably still use it just to support the mod makers, but it's a bit worrisome.
  24. The hypocrisy is strong here... But, regardless, I do apologize. I suppose my comments were unwarranted, I was simply surprised when I saw the comments on the Paradox forums, came here and found the same comments made by the same guy. It just came across as petty to me. I do agree though, that the presentations were bad. Paradox would do well to get more professional streamers and organizers to reveal content. I simply think some gratitude is warranted as we weren't supposed to get any streams at all and would still be waiting another week for a dev diary to get even a smidgen of new info. Well, maybe not gratitude, but it seems a lot to be so vehemently complaining about when it literally has no effect on the content of the expansion itself. Regardless, I meant no offense to mutton noir or anybody else. And, as you requested, I will join in the debate. I'm sure Colossal Order does not want to completely devalue a large overhaul mod, nor introduce a gratuitous amount of micromanagement to the basegame. They're merely introducing some of the smaller fixes and features for free, and crediting the modders who inspired them. I agree here, it would be nice for there to be a delay between bus spawning. It's not too big of an issue for me, I find the general functionality remains the same and the problem fixes itself over time. Maybe you don't have enough stops/traffic lights on your routes? The frequent stops could help them space out. I think the cable cars are not designed to provide sole access to a mountain, but rather ease the traffic, as you suggested. Wide six-lane roads and highways don't look good running up mountains, most people use dirt roads, two-lane roads and will probably use the upcoming two-way highway as well. With the cable cars, pedestrian traffic can be seriously reduced on these roads, allowing them to primarily service industry trucks and the like. The same can be said with Ferries and islands, with bridges servicing trucks while the passengers use ferries. Not to mention, ferries have been a highly-requested feature from Simcity 4. The blimps... I see a lot of complaints because blimps aren't a realistic form of transport but I see C:S as a spiritual successor to Simcity. Simcity wasn't completely realistic in the past and I don't see why Skylines shouldn't be the same. I will quite enjoy using them for my dystopian alternate reality. All in all... I'm surprised that people think the update is underwhelming. This expansion contains quite a bit more content than After Dark or Natural Disasters, and definitely a lot more than Snowfall! Many of the features are highly requested and the tweaks that have been inspired by mods will improve the game's complete-ness and longetivity. All in all, I think this expansion will be very satisfying.
  25. Holy crap, you've made posts like this both here and on the Paradox forums... why are you so angry? Yeah, the presentation was pretty inefficient, but I'm pretty sure the streams were a spur of the moment thing at a convention, and weren't planned. It could have been better, but I was happy to get at least a tease of the new content when as far as we knew the only information we would get would be from very spaced out dev diaries.
