  1. Your LUT seems familiar I like the stadium, which one is it?
  2. Hm, kingofsimcity's screenshots make me want to download No Pillars and Finer Road Heights, but the Workshop comments of these mods are filled with bug reports. I already lost a savegame after using Traffic++ so I guess I'll pass for my current city and stick to ugly interchanges Nice work tho!
  3. I used the fixed-level terraform tool (the one on the left) to get the ground to the level of the rails. A left click with this tool will increase ground level by exactly that amount. Then I placed the train station, afterwards used the smooth tool around it to turn the cliffs into a hill I already made it look a bit better than in the picture, I'll post again when I have a "final" version.
  4. I agree the gravel adds a lot to rail tracks. Looking forward to the full update. Not sure about the LUT you're using though, I think it doesn't really fit to the climate and general feel of your city.
  5. Nice, you really captured the suburban feel of the U.S., or at least my stereotypes of it as I've never been to the States
  6. Love what you do with your train stations and the circular parking lots
  7. I tested lots of LUTs and settled for Blockbuster as the most pleasant one to look at constantly. I use it in as well.
  8. That's pretty neat. Is there a way to influence the width of the sidewalks?
  9. Before: a hill After: canals
  10. Replies: San Leandro #9 Sand, Sun and Spirits Before I get to the main part of today's update I have two minor changes to report. First, I got rid of the hole at my harbor as it looked silly without water. I made sure that the responsible project manager was thrown into the pit before I filled it with concrete. The current harbor However, the harbor still isn't final. Because of a nearby city development project I will have to move the industry back and replace the current one with offices. In other news, the Strip over in Ocean City has a new attraction. We now have a Hard Rock Cafe! This fits quite nicely and I hope I will be able to bring even more life to our biggest city (please give me nightlife assets!) Hard Rock Cafe in Ocean City Alright, so after my experts on terraforming did an acceptable job the last time around, I gathered them again to discuss the next point on my agenda. San Leandro is still missing a dedicated tourist district. To fix this gaping hole in our area I already decided on a suitable site and took my engineers with me for an inspection. The area is situated right next to the harbor (that's also the reason why I have to get rid of the pollution). Originally it was just a hill with a six lane street running through it. But a simple hill was not the enviroment I had in mind for San Leandro's premiere leisure district. The engineers were shocked when I told them about the task ahead. Some of them were crying, probably thinking about the horrible accident that happened to their colleague. We would be building a network of canals for the new city of Belcourt Beach. The first step was to dig the network and also lower the adjacent land. Next we cleaned up the area and also smoothed the surrounding rocks. Now it was time to build streets and decide where our boardwalks would be placed. I also ordered the construction of a waterfront resort. And with just a bit of detailing ahead we were done with our tourism district. The area around the canals features exclusive shops and homes, beautiful boardwalks and state-of-the-art cultural offerings. The area near the cruiseship dock is dominated by high-rise apartments and typical touristy commercial. In order to place the cruiseship dock we had to remove parts of a mountain. Now for some detail shots of the area. Basketball court by the beach Lots of high-end shopping by the canals Belcourt Concert Hall and Torus Plaza Unaffordable waterfront real estate Boardwalk on a shopping street Street view of a typical shopping street in the canal district Inside a park overlooking the canals Southern beach with an amusement park close by Lifeguard towers have been installed on the beaches - I can't use bad press right now Amusement park Maybe get a drink before you have to watch your kids for the next 8 hours? Ferris wheel can be seen while surfing. They also watch you, so stop sucking! Marina Bay Resort with private beach A picturesque pier on the northern beach Northern beach Of course alcohol is sold everywhere Boardwalk by the northern beach Belcourt Beach skyline Highrises dominate the northern part San Leandro now has 83,000 citizens enjoying life. Most of them live in Ocean City (48,500). Southgate (12,500) and Flat Rock (10,500) are regional hubs. The newly created Belcourt Beach is home to around 8,000 people. The smaller towns Marion (2,000) and Royal Mills (1,500) complete the area. Okay, that's it for now. Thanks for reading! Here's how the new city looks from above. 11. I can't see too much on your screens of how exactly you set up your bus routes, but If I may give you a tip regardless: it is effective to set up your public transport like it's done in real life. Busses, trains and metros go along a line and go back exactly the same route just moving the opposite way. So at each bus stop your cims can go both directions. Effectively you're setting up two-way lines, not circles. Another important thing is to have overlapping lines so you have bus stops where passengers can change to other bus lines.
  12. Hey and welcome, I think I already commented on your reddit post. A really lovely town you built, love the use of props everywhere. Looking forward to more!
  13. Usually I'm not a fan of circular road patterns, but you make it work so far. I'm interested in seeing where this is going.
  14. I'm also building a holiday destination right now yours is very well done, great job.
  15. Hey, I really like your trees and downloaded all of them. I would have a request for you as a tree expert trees that don't die. I'd like to place healthy-looking trees near the water and I'm probably not the only one.
  16. I miss high tech industry from SC2013. The vanilla level 3 generic industry buildings require high skilled labor, but still produce lots of pollution and also don't look very advanced. I actually just turned an industry park into offices because I have a new city nearby, but that can't be the point.
  17. For a start, it helps if you delete some of the trees outside your building area, especially those further away that aren't visible. It's done in a matter of seconds using the treebrush mod (select largest brush -> rightclick).
  18. Replies: San Leandro #8 Gaining Land After we successfully founded and developed another city in San Leandro I decided it is time to again upgrade the existing infrastructure and make San Leandro fit for future growth. However, for the next project it wasn't enough to expand a few interchanges. In order to upgrade the existing harbor, we needed to gain land. So I gathered my top experts in terraforming and inspected the current state of affairs in order to develop a plan. The old harbor: Now, I actually liked the harbor as it was, but it had a couple of key weaknesses. First, there's only three cargo terminals (two for ships and one for trains) which hindered efficient logistics. Second, and worse, the roundabout was a terrible design decision and led to horrendous traffic at all times. We decided that we needed quite a bit of extra land to allow for more terminals and to optimize traffic. The new harbor looks like this: We now have a total of seven cargo terminals (four for ships and three for trains) and much less traffic problems, because I removed the small roundabout. I think the heavy investment was worth it, but the new harbor will have to stand the test of time. The hole you see with the wind turbine in it used to be filled with water but sadly that is receding much faster than I thought. So I will probably get rid of it soon if I don't find a way to fix it. Okay, thanks for reading!
  19. The City of Triventa

You need to edit your first post and use "more options", there you can update the title. Btw, nice city!
  20. I'll never not upvote elevated rails. That bump looks a bit crazy though, have you tried the terraform mod to make it a bit more... survivable?
  21. Ah, the waterfront walkway is awesome. I thought about doing a spotlight for this asset, but I figured you guys would see it anyway as it was a top post on reddit. Great use, also I really like what you did to the area around the citadel/cathedral thingy.
  22. Replies: San Leandro #7 Flat Rock I just realized that San Leandro is actually an exisiting place in California. Hm, should've googled that before I started my region. Anyway, I'm not going to rename it now. A new city was needed in proximity to the expo, the airport and the new farms to reduce commuter traffic in these areas. Thus, Flat Rock was created. It's one of those places you wouldn't actively want to move to, but it's probably alright if you're born there. A very average town, probably the most average place in the region yet without many highs or lows. The downtown area is quite busy though because it acts as the regional hub and has direct mass transit routes to the expo and the airport as well as express routes to Ocean City and Southgate. Overview Rush hour in downtown between metro, bus terminal and train station (not pictured) The busy metro station with a small news stand and a corner shop Offices extend along the train tracks. Also palms! Palms everywhere The local chain of cinemas opened their third location in San Leandro, we also have a new chain of Mexican restaurants that started operations in Flat Rock and is looking to expand as well as more gas stations. Cinema and gas station Mexican restaurant. Flatrockers were so addicted to the place that a second outlet was opened nearby. I allow it, it is better than having Big Bite all over the city. I am currently testing a more rigorous building code in downtown Flat Rock. Northern Flat Rock features more affordable housing. It is actually my favorite part of town with its mix of high and low density and its shopping. Skate park right behind the bus terminal Main street in Northern Flat Rock View from a 7-Eleven View from the train tracks on the northern suburbs The suburban area in the south extends to the farms of Royal Mills. Local high school with a public pool and BBQ A tennis club near the farms The development of the new city also lead to a much more busy main entrance to the expo with new shops along the main road from the highway. Okay, thanks a lot for reading!
  23. Somehow I missed this CJ till now. Lots of good things happening here! I like how you use unique buildings.
