I picked Skylines back up with the release of AD and loving it so far. Some shots from the outskirts of my city: Shopping area Train station Two indoor arenas (implied underground parking) A lower-wealth urban city block Suburban highschool Water management and nuclear power plant
  3. Oh my, those are some really amazing maps!
  4. San Leandro #1 Starting Small...ish So I actually lost re-election over in All because the new interchange destroyed some flowers in the backyard of my biggest donor. Luckily some excentric Taloogan billionaire owns unused land and wants me to develop it for him. Restrictions? None. Democracy? Zero. That's more like it. I knew my tax breaks would help the economy in the long run. My economy. The available land is actually quite spectacular and features everything from beaches over mountains, rivers, waterfalls, lakes to large plains. The first settlement started out as a highway exit for cars that are passing through the area. I quickly built a highway stop so travellers would take some time and notice the area. The original highway stop. Infoboxes were set up advertizing several real estate projects and demand quickly ramped up. The first town, Marion, was established and grew to around 2,000 inhabitants. Overview of the first settlement. The church and adjacent graveyard. You can see the town hall through the trees on the left. The picturesque town hall. Reverse angle of the townhall and the church. Behind the church is our small train station. We are starting out green with a recycling center. The train station and the main shopping area. Waiting for the train. I may be waiting alone but that will change soon enough. Parking and bus stops. We couldn't build new homes fast enough in Marion, so sooner than expected we went a step further and began construction on the first regional hub, Southgate. Population: 10,000. Overview of Southgate. Southgate has a small downtown area and is the proud site of the first sports stadium in San Leandro. Go Southgate Legends! The baseball stadium near downtown. Entrance to the stadium. Downtown Southgate. Downtown and stadium. The main plaza. Southgate beach. What's a beach without the stereotypical coffee shop? Southgate tennis. San Leandro State University (Southgate Campus) We also went ahead and attracted some industry to be less reliant on imports. Yay, black lung! Cargo area. The area right now. Okay, that's it for the new chapter! Thanks for reading
  5. Cool Just as a quick update regarding this CJ: I stopped playing CS:S and thus this city a while ago (I binged a bit too much and got bored of it). However I just started a new city on a European map with the latest update. I might post some pictures in this thread soon.
  6. Just take pictures with print scr and save them with paint?
  7. The map you're playing on seems familiar! However I changed most of the highways and rails in the map editor, because the original creator did a fairly poor job on those. Just see how the highways go around the mountain in picture 5, I think it looks ridiculous and ruins an otherwise nice view. Other than that I like the update, a believable town center you created.
  8. Y-Interchange on a hill. It was kind of a $%&^! to get right without mods in this location.
  9. funny, i built the exact same canal with the boardwalk and crossing streets, but i tore it all down because the dead trees look ridiculous. anyway good job, really cool city!
  10. Interesting first entries, looking forward to more!

  12. Replies: San Leandro #11 Connecting the Dots After a well-deserved time off that I spent with cheap liquor over in Talooga I am back to work in San Leandro. My focus is still to connect undeveloped areas in between my various cities and towns. Two new projects have been realized: Ocean City is growing outward, the new district of Ocean City West is up and running. Across the highway is a smaller town, called Creola. But before I get to the main part I am happy to show you yet another attraction on Ocean City's Strip: A new casino on The Strip Alright, here are some overview pictures of the new areas. Overview - the upper half is Ocean City West, the lower half Creola Ocean City West is actually to the west in this picture - the interchange you see is a first attempt at freehanding a curved DDI I begin the tour in Ocean City West. After some consideration, I decided to move the county seat over here to give it more room and thus a more respectable surrounding. Apart from that the district is dominated by appartment blocks, shopping streets, a few offices and the iconic elevated rails which weave through the narrow streets. Overview of Ocean City West Coming from the roundabout which connects Ocean City West to the highway you are greeted by this clock tower Main plaza and shopping with San Leandro County seat in the back Behind the county seat is a roundabout with a beautiful statue Elevated rails go through the district Apparently the fast food joints needed a refill More rails Inner city lake The lake with its terrace is a great place to relax The only highrises allowed in this district are the office buildings Extravagant blue trees and pedestrian walkways in the office area High school Backside of the school with a skate park and basketball court - notice the pub immediately adjacent to the school, I realized that I find that much more hilarious than the parents Students getting ready for some after school skating A peculiar hotel based on an old train station is situated next to the office area A typical shopping street Rail crossing leading into Ocean City West Next up is the town of Creola. Overview of Creola with the train station and main business area in the front The different angle shows the train station and a synagogue - a symbol for the strong Jewish community living in this suburb A pedestrian underpass connects the bus stop to the train station Reverse angle Rail crossings close to the train station IKEA and gas station Fast food behind IKEA Synagogue with a farmer's market next to it Farmer's market Rails leading into town Various bridges cross the rails Coffee shop in front of the local cinema with the pedestrian bridge in the back A street with offices and shops The local high school One of the main sights of Creola is this historic watertower inside a roundabout in a residential area Some of the houses have more individual gardens A construction site in a residential area The northern part of town is bordered by an extensive park which is very popular among joggers Okay, that's it for now. Thanks for reading!
  13. .. at least sort of. I think it's a bit better than building a train station below the train tracks and having these weird slopes.
  14. Great downtown area!
  15. Nice city growth. As a fan of terraforming I'm looking forward to what you can achieve with it!
  16. Awesome pictures and city, my only complaint would be the Marina Bay Resport seems very out of place. Regarding your questions: I also want a mod to stop trees from dying! I think this annoys everyone who's messing around with terraforming. I even posted a reddit thread a few days ago but that got deleted or something You can edit your title by editing your first post and choosing "more reply options" or "use full editor" or whatever it says
  17. good pictures. i also started using highway ramps as regional highways, but they just look weird to me. there's a mod in the workshop introducing new speed limits for exisiting road types, however it doesnt sound too stable in its current state.
  18. nice. to be honest i'm not patient enough to watch your hour-long gameplay videos, so this is a good way to actually see your city. i think it would be even better to occasionally mix up your manual "driving" with following a specific car (first person camera has this option).

here's my area right now, pop 83,000

nice shot, do you use a mod for farther zoom?
  21. Replies: San Leandro #10 Tickets are on Sale Three time's a charm they say, so I went ahead and realized one last project (for now) that includes both terraforming and water. This time I had two goals in mind: First, I wanted to stop building in random places of San Leandro and instead start connecting my various cities and towns. Second, I needed a propper stadium district. For this I chose the strip of land between Southgate and Ocean City. So without further ado let's visit the National Stadium. Aside from the large football stadium which is home to Ocean City United the area features a tennis stadium, beach volleyball, offices and shopping. Front view Side view from the highway View from my yacht Tree-filled parking lots and skyline Both stadiums in one shot Tennis stadium with covered parking For this area I made sure to include lots of pedestrian walkways for fast, easy and pleseant travel. View of the tennis area from a walkway Walking the other way gets you directly to a small beach Walkways also lead through the numerous parks and directly to the stadiums, beaches and train station Train and metro Rails have been lowered to not interfere with traffic Behind the metro station View from Ocean City toward the train station As mentioned above, I also introduced competitive beach volleyball to San Leandro, but it still has room to grow in terms of popularity. Right now it is a fringe sport and merely watched by a few dozen mostly drunk spectators. Beach volleyball fields At least they're having a good time Standing on the bridge over the canal Same bridge, looking the other way On the road to the stadium coming from Southgate On the road to the stadium coming from Ocean City Okay, that's it for now. Thanks for reading!
  22. Playing around with pipes.

Really cool idea, but I am missing something: how do you get the fresh water in there? Do you use the water outlet from the terraform mod?
