Howdy friends, So I found this file for a vessel TSS Lorina. In the description, it says its a ploppable item. Even over water. I figured like a park lot or something. However, I don't think it is because when I unzip and drop into the Plugins, it's just a solitary file. It doesn't show any other files like a lot file or anything. Instructions say to just unzip the file and place in Plugins. It doesn't show up in gameplay. It's not in any of the mayor menus. I tried to look it up in Lot Editor but it's not there either so I don't think it's a lot file. What sort of file is this? How do I get this item to work in gameplay? I feel kinda dumb but I'm stumped! lol

You were right! I used a different zip tool and it worked. Thanks!

Howdy friends, I was wanting to make the building pictured below into a ploppable landmark. I tried to modify the lot in lot editor but I couldn’t make it ploppable. I tried the cheat but since it’s residential it goes abandoned. Can anybody help me out and make a ploppable version?

I’ve been having a small issue with a custom lot in lot editor. The correct lot opens and I’m able to edit but when I select save, it gives ‘Failed to open SC4Lot file.’ Error message. Save as is greyed out so i can’t override the original file. It’s only happening on one lot. GooberGen Aquarium. I tried to replace a building on another lot with this one but no luck. It doesn't show up when I input the sc4lot or model file. Other lots from the same creator edit fine. Just this one has the issue. It’s not a big deal if I can’t fix it. I’m more curious if anything. thanks!

They're DEFINITELY not using the cemeteries as a front for other shady activities.

Another installment of my Memorial Park series: The latest addition is Whispering Glades Memorial Park. Located in the city of Arapahoe Valley. This sprawling cemetery is managed by Heavenly Hills. A subsidiary of InGen (International Genetics Corporation). The undeveloped property was purchased by InGen from rival company BioSyn. It was then turned over to Heavenly Hills to develop into a Memorial Park. This is currently the largest and newest cemetery in the region. It's continually growing with plenty of land to spare as needed. Whispering Glades prides itself on being a haven of rest, peace, and reflection. Treating it's residents and visitors with the utmost respect and care. Soft rolling hills, green lawns, beautiful trees, water features and impressive sculpture enhance the serene setting. This is a full-service cemetery with on-site mortuary, crematorium, flower shop, various event venues and houses of worship. Notable areas include: the Court of the Redwoods. Featuring semi-private garden interments surrounded by towering Redwood trees. The Grand Mausoleum with classical architecture and multiple floors of crypts and niches. The impressive private mausoleum of InGen CEO Dr. John Hammond. Gothic bell tower with a bronze statue of Joan of Arc (Formerly at Cypress View Memorial Park) Reflection Lake with paths and benches for quiet rest and remembrance.

Howdy Friends, I'm in search of a lot with a statue base. Just a simple rectangular statue base without a statue on top, on a 1x1 park lot. Similar to the circled item in the attached pic. Doesn't need fancy steps or anything. Just the statue base. Thanks!

The second park is Sunset Vista Memorial Park in the city of Arapahoe Valley. Owned and operated by Heavenly Hills, an InGen Company. International Genetics Corporation. This is a full-service memorial park and the largest in the region. It was originally a small cemetery that was incorporated when Heavenly Hills bought the land. The original gate, dome mausoleum and small mission church are still present. As well as original interments. The park features grassy lawns, nature, flowers, walks, artwork, and fountains. Three unique houses of worship complete the park. To the east of the entrance is the park mortuary and offices. Originally a historic tudor-style mansion purchased and moved to the property during it's first expansion. It currently operates as the mortuary and flower shop. The park offices are located just behind the mortuary. A unique feature of this park is the Garden Columbarium. Designed in the style of early century greenhouse gardens, it offers inurnments in a serene setting surrounded by lush vegetation and flowers. Maintenance yard and regional offices are located just off-property to the north.

I'm posting a couple of memorial parks inspired by the sprawling cemeteries where I live. I have a morbid fascination with death. lol Anyway, The first park is Cypress View Memorial Park in the city of Arapahoe Valley. Owned and operated by Heavenly Hills, an InGen Company. International Genetics Corporation. This is a large full-service memorial park and the newest in the region. It features grassy lawns, nature, flowers, walks, artwork, and fountains. Two large mausoleums modeled after National Monuments, a unique gothic bell tower with a bronze statue of Joan of Arc. A glass and steel columbarium that is both functional and artistic. Three houses of worship complete the park. To the north of the entrance is the park mortuary and offices. To the south of the bell tower is the flower shop. Both the flower shop and mortuary are original colonial-era buildings moved to the park. Maintenance yard is located just off-property to the north.

Just a little industrial section of the city of Palm Canyon. It's the headquarters for InGen or International Genetics Incorporated. Just your friendly neighborhood evil conglomerate. The campus pictured here is the main headquarters including the Central Offices, the North Research Center, and the Dr. John Hammond Research Center. InGen is also the parent company of many other businesses in the region: Jenquai Alchemy, Pedriana Systems, Soylent Industries, Stratton Biotech, Dead Forest Paper, Wallace Petroleum, Heavenly Hills Memorial Parks, among others. The strange goings on behinds closed doors don't seem to bother the local sims too much.

Aside from the NAM and some custom buildings and props, I run a pretty vanilla set up, so my suburbs are not anything too extraordinary. Anyway, I always like to make up little backstories for my cities. It makes it more fun for me. Currently, the largest city in my region is Moderna Hills (no relation to the pharma company). As the story goes, Moderna Hills had been for many decades a hub for film making. It was home to many studios churning out celluloid goodness and making stars of regular Sims overnight. But after a while, the movie industry left for greener pastures. One lone studio still exists in Moderna Hills. Lampwick Inc. occupies a portion of the former Monumental Pictures studios. Here are a couple of Moderna Hills' more unique suburbs. 1 - Studio Vista: This small residential area was originally built by Monumental Pictures on it's sprawling studio property. It is an enclave of small private bungalows intended to house Monumental's biggest movie stars. Recognizable by it's original perimeter fence and winding cobblestone streets. Remnants of a dedicated trolley line to the studio still remains on the thoroughfare to the south. After Monumental closed down, most of the studio land was razed and redeveloped. However, the bungalows were saved and turned into public residences. The large house in the center was once home to Monumental's studio president, and it is now the official Mayor's residence. A unique piece of local history. 2 - Felicity Heights: A wealthy and upper middle-class neighborhood. Many large estates and historic homes occupy this waterside neighborhood. Many of Moderna Hills' movie stars had homes here. When the studios left, most of the homes were abandoned and fell into disrepair. But an effort was made to revitalize the area and many of the original homes were saved. As an homage to it's past, the streets in the neighborhood are named after movie stars.

Moderna Hills (No relation to the pharma company) is the largest city in my region right now. I often have a habit of wiping out and rebuilding cities frequently and that's what I've done with Moderna Hills. So it's a work in progress. The downtown area is limited to a few blocks of high rises along 7th St. The north-south 'main drag' through downtown. Outside of these city blocks, the surrounding municipalities are still medium and low density. I have a thing for surface rail, so railroad is major transportation in Moderna Hills. There's a large Grand Station near downtown and the rail network services all of the neighboring cities. The downtown city center is flanked on the west and south by medium and low density neighborhoods of Conestoga Park, Studio Vista, West Moderna, Wormwood, Springfield, Felicity Heights and Barclay. To the east of downtown is the arts and entertainment district featuring museums, performance venues, and sports arenas. This district terminus being the airport on the eastern side of the city. Moderna Hills is bordered to the south by Lake Alhambra which offers much water frontage. Several smaller neighborhoods, Breakwater Cove and Horseshoe Bay, skirt the coastal areas. Not the greatest but it's always changing, improving, and evolving.

Looking for some abandoned or derelict buildings. Small low density commercial, industrial, and residential. Mostly low density commerical. Something ploppable. Landmark, park type or similar. I want to kind of curate the look instead of just zoning and letting it get abandoned. Additionally, some small ploppable lots with rubble, trash, or partly demolished buildings would be a plus. Thanks!

Parking and driveway textures/props missing bug?
timoftomorrow posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hey everyone, Not sure if this topic has been discussed as I couldn't find anything about it in a search and going through some of the topics posted here. I use an older boot from disc version of SC4 with rush hour. Not sure if this would make a difference. Anyway, I installed the NAM a couple of years ago. Not sure which version, but I think it was the latest at the time. The NAM works good and I haven't had any problems to speak of with the NAM itself. My problem is after installing NAM, I noticed that it may have caused a bug with the default maxis buildings. All of the civic buildings, airports, commercial, and industrial with parking lots are either just empty parking lots or blank textures. No cars park there. On the residential side, the driveways and cars disappear completely and are replaced with lawn textures. So, for instance, if an R$$$ mansion grows, it's basically just a mansion in the middle of a large green lawn. No driveway or cars. Trees still show up and the buildings work as intended, but the parking and driveways do not show. Additionally, some park lots are empty or missing components. The small and medium park is just an empty grass lot with a lamp post. The medium and large flower park are just blank plaza and ground textures. The fountain in the medium plaza is present but no longer sprays. It should be noted that any NAM components with parking lots work fine. And any buildings I've downloaded from the exchange do not have the same issues. Only the maxis default buildings and some park lots. It only started doing this after installing NAM. The game works fine, but these bugs detract from the realistic feel. Any thoughts? Thanks! -
Parking and driveway textures/props missing bug?

rsc204, you were absolutely correct. I adjusted the graphics setting and voila! back to normal. I'm embarassed it was such a simple fix. Thanks for the info! Moderator may close the thread. -
Hi! Me again! I'll try not to delete my post so that any replies make sense. For the record for anyone that replied, I did find what I was looking for and the rail fence file ended up working. It was hidden in a different tab. But ANYWAY... I'm looking for two things: * Large colonial revival/georgian/antebellum-type mansion. Something period looking, ideally with columns and a mansard or hip roof. Any lot size. Will entertain other styles as well. I found some mansions over on SC4 Devotion, but the creator has made them reward lots with population minimums and other requirements. * Classic red barn. Nothing fancy. Just an old red barn. With a silo is ideal, but whatever you can find. Any lot size. These two items must be ploppable, either as a park or landmark. Little to no dependencies ideal! I do have most of the basic BSC dependency files already. Essentials, Textures, etc. but I often still have issues on lots with high amounts of dependencies. A couple of reference pictures included. Thanks!
