  1. Trees and forests

    I'm looking on the Stex, but i cannot seem to filter it down... I'm looking for lots that would be great for parks, adjacent to highways etc of grass lots (any size, a range would be ideal) with lots of trees on so that I don't have to plant them endlessly, or use god mode cheat. Ideally it would be with trees that aren't the default ones. I have some trees that I've downloaded already but would like to have a lot that's already got them on. Does anyone knows if this exists? I'm looking for realistic looking trees! Thanks in advance, hope someone can help.

    More of Downtown Brindola. It's a W2W paradise, densely packed but still with obvious commercial districts featuring gleaming skyscrapers The downtown area also has the obligatory Chinatown Hope you like it, let me know what you think (Also, many thanks to Aaron Graham, without him this city wouldn't have taken the shape it has, amongst other lot creators!)

    This is my huge region of Brindola that I've been working on for as many years as I can remember. It's still only using about 30% of available tiles, its a work in progress. I've pieced together two bits of downtown from separate tiles to demonstrate the overall downtown structure, and you can see how it fits into the entire region- a large downtown, several satellite cities (and another separate city called Scottsdale in the bottom left of the region), plus its large multi-runway airport. It'll take many more years I expect to fill with suburbs, farms, satellite commuter towns and beach cities etc, but you get the idea for now... PS population of the region at present is 7million

  7. Lot Editor questions I've recently downloaded the Lot Editor in order to try and adjust some lots to how I would like them. When scrolling through the lots I've noticed that theres 4 City Halls- each one larger than the one before. Have I missed something in SC4 for all these years? Is there a way of up-sizing your city hall over time that I didn't know about? I can only ever manage to see the smallest version in my games. Also, I'm having problems with the props in Lot Editor, if I move them (moving aircraft props on their parking stands) and save it, it has no effect in the game, they remain in the same position? Hope someone can help Thanks!

    Its a shame its just a prop, because I have absolutely no idea of how to make Lots! I cannot even get the Lot Editor to load properly!?
  9. Absolutely LOVE your buildings, they make up a large proportion of my cities! Any chance you'll be making any more buildings the height of 785 Park Avenue that aren't corner lots? A lot of them are corners so my mid-block buildings all look a bit different (apart from the small few you've already done).
  10. Fantastic, I've been waiting for this one! I love your buildings, theyve totally transformed my SC4! They look so realistic in-game and give that great high-density W2W environment. Cant wait to see some of the others appear on the STEX

  12. Is it possible to change the tile size of a city after the region has already been established? I have my CBD in the centre of a region and its on a large city tile. I find a common problem with SC4 is that once a city gets too big it struggles to process it and development stall, regardless of how much demand there is and how much youve raised the caps etc. Therefore I would like to change my central city area into 4 medium tiles, is this possible seeing as all of the neighbouring cities are already developed or would I have to scrap the entire region and start afresh?

    The reward file is probably included in the Essentials and the roads in this Texture pack. The vehicles may be timed - sometimes they're there, sometimes not. Fantastic- that worked. Thanks so much for that!

    I'm looking for the dependencies to work with Ill Tonkso's fantastic Metropolitan Mall? The links in the file do not work. The car park is missing cars and there should be a road/transit-enabled part to the lot, anyone able to direct me there?     This is a feature of almost everyone of my cities, I love it! But please please please where is the link to make the road work/appear? Also the car park is missing some cars on the roof as shown in the picture- looks a bit deserted, which dependency is that?
  16. Changing a city's size

    Im not sure if its a CPU issue, I think its a game issue. The simulation isnt stuttering, animations are lightning speed, I just find that once a city becomes over a certain size when you zone new areas they dont develop despite the demand, and when they do its minimal. I've got demand through the roof and enough of everything to satisfy caps etc. I just think the game is very old and in desperate need of an update- heres hoping one day they will do it. I bough cities xl but I cannot stand it, I like the game play of SC4!
  17. Row Houses

    Love these row houses, they look fantastic next to my downtown areas. Just a quick question though- is there a way of making them only appear as part of a medium or high density res and NOT low density- my suburbs are starting to look odd with them popping up as they are typically a more urban setting?

    is there no way to stop it growing as much as it does? it completely takes over, such a shame as it looks great, but too much of a good thing?

Is there a modd or programme that allows you to edit a building's properties- for example to change the number of occupants from any building in SC4 (including ones downloaded from the STEX), changing a building from CS to CO etc? Also, does anyone know what happened to the industry quadrupler file? I hate having to have sprawling industrial zones when each factory unrealistically employs only 40 people! I cannot seem to find this modd on the STEX? Thanks in advance people, hope someone will be able to help.

    thanks for your replies, very helpful indeed. Is it normal for the SC4Tool programme to freeze after its been opened? does it take a while to 'import' all of the buildings and plugin buildings that I'm using? Thanks in advance
  22. Infuriating game!

    Ive just been playing cities xl 2011 for the past 7 hours, and its driving me crazy. It is so difficult! I have a large city of 500k residents etc but its so hard to trade, I am permanently short of electricty and water- I've tried creating support cities that can trade with it but its impossible to have cities that specialise in utilities because theyre too expensive to run. I dont see why you have to have a positive cash flow in order to trade when you already have many millions in the bank- its so annoying! Any tips?
  23. Buildings in Cities XL 2011

    l have cities XL, ive only been playing it a couple of days (its taking some getting used to, its very fiddely compared to sc4), and on the box it shows the Petronas Towers and John Hancock centre. Are these in the game anywhere? I would love to have those in my cities once ive played it long enough to be able to build tall high-rises.

    Thats a shame! I love these buildings. How easy is it to put new buildings into Cities XL like it is for SC4? is there the possibility of someone developing it?
