1. SimCity: Wishlists

"Using those 3 examples here is what Buggi proposed:
A) Ecotourism: high natural beauty (low pollution, plenty of trees, AKA R$$ desirability from trees, especially god mode trees over open grass areas in SimCity 4)
B) Vacation tourism: beaches, landmarks, museums, restaurants, (tourism zone in Cities XL, due to lack of pollution, proximity to landmarks and generally exceptional Quality of Life)
C) Entertainment: capitalist entertainment seen in SCS:D and the Crime and Leisure Mod for Cities XL. This includes stadiums, clubs, bars, and casinos.
The Cities XL equivalent is environment/Quality of Life for A, general satisfaction for B, and leisure satisfaction for D." OcramSeattle, I so agree! Though, I feel like you did forget to mention Business Tourism, which would round out this wonderfully developed tourism addition to Simcity! What I would like to see added that hasn't been mentioned much in this topic yet are (what I view) as four crucial additions: 1. Mixed-Use Building For some reason I am most passionate about this one. Now, I understand that for many it isn't a concern and as far as game mechanics and its simulation it might be altogether be avioded but, I am sorry, if we are going for more 'realism' or taking the SimCity series to the next level, this is A MUST. It has always frustrated me in Simulation and Strategy games that a building that is big enough/etc. (e.g. shops on the ground floor with 10 stories above) that it only serves ONE purpose. Like, that entire structure is used for that one purpose? Uh - no. 2. Non-Road, etc. Transportation Now, I know we are all excited for 'curvy roads' and what not but, one thing I did enjoy in SimCity Societies (I'm sorry but I did - and this wasn't the only thing) is the fact that you could have a whole society without roads. I understand it will be a majority of our infrastructure but, PLEASE do not make it so that every building HAS TO BE road dependent. A building should be able to be set back from a sidewalk so as to create a nice plaza area or alleyway for multiple high density housing/or shopping. Think The Promenade in Santa Monica or The Grove at Farmers Market. Even Cities XL in its American pack had something with houseboats connected to the pier (that's an interesting concept/proposal in it's own right). 3. Better Sloped Structures I see it's starting to be mentioned, which is GREAT because in 4, I was always so scared to build on slopes. It was either flat land or cliff's edge. The way it was handled (was good at the time, I guess) was so unrealistic and annoying. So, yes to better sloped structure management. 4. Mass Transit Opportunisties -----> More Expansive I am very eager to see the Mass, Rail, Sea, A ir, etc. Transit. When it comes to Mass however, let's make sure we have expanded on what 4/Rush hour brought to the table - Like, for elevated rail and Monorail (which, I know I am in the minority when I say this but, I did prefer this to Rail) can we please utilize the space underneath? I mean, in a city, one big waste of real estate. And even if we don't, let the pavement/etc. conform to the environment it is in. I forgot who did it on the STEX or BSC Excahnge but, they made some really hot ones 4 4 4 the elevated rail, and not the monorail (which made me sad) but, I am hoping that gets turned around in 5. Also, if they could go into/through buildings that would be super cool and even be transformed into something similar to New York's Green Line, making the local real estate attractive, among other such benefits. Also, please do continue to have the transitions from elevated to underground (and if they included a Mono one/one for the Monorail = ) and underground stations in buildings/plazas/etc. Like, just for real. So, yeah, these are my two cents worth (more like $2 worth) and really hope Maxis'll implement them. But yeah, please keep this wishlist up! I agree and am intrigued by so many of these suggestions!
2. A timeline or More Tilesets?

I actually hope tilesets aren't region- or nationwide specific or, if they are, that I can choose to build a city with multiple, various types of architecture and tilesets - a way of making diversity really visual and appealing within a city (to me anyway). I know this isn't necessarily realistic but, it should be up to the players choice to build the city they choose. Plus, there are some real world examples with a city containing various regional architecture, such as New York, Los Angeles, and even Japan. My biggest fear is that we won't have many various types of architecture/tilesets and if we do, they are mandated or limited to one per city/region/nation. Think about how bring it would be ....
3. A timeline or More Tilesets?

I voted for various ones, namely modern and eastern tilesets (I think colonial and medieval just aren't for this game), but also choose other styles not mentioned. Namely, South American and Caribbean styles. Though Simcity 4 lacked many, with the STEX and other fabulous communities, many tilesets from around the world were available yet, what was severely lacking were South American and Caribbean tilesets. And I guess you could take colonial t mean South American and Carribbean styles but, it in my mind and experiences, they are two distinct, separate styles.
4. Discussion about City Tile Size

Thanks for pointing that out Tarkus! I love when someone is able to 'find' something that the rest of us missed! Using context clues, hopefully this means they'll will change according to (what works) consumer demands! Alright!
5. Discussion about City Tile Size

^^^Yay for Optimism!!^^^ Anyways, lol, I am totally on this let's focus on and have rendering (or however you say it) that 1x1km/2x2 km square while our city is bigger than that defined area. It would be vastly disappointing if our cities were limited to those dimensions. It would be awesome if we could merge different 'districts' as some have likened to calling them and have them form one's overall larger city. And, let's hope that if this is the case, that a whole region isn't defined as a city but, however many different districts you would want to join up to make cities within a region. That's what I'm hoping for. And another thing: Why do our cities/districts have to have the stringent rectilinear boundaries? That's one thing I had a hard time with when I was building cities in Simcity 4 (Love Simcity 4!), I would have this region with various geographical features but, when I built cities, I felt as if the boundaries should have corresponded more with the river or the mountain rather than some arbitrary border..... I feel as if, for me, that's a more pressing issue atm ... But once again: ^^^Yay for Optimism!!^^^
6. Disasters in SimCity (2013)

Yes, someone else was thinking (and said) Zombie Apocalypse! Hell yeah! But really, since some of the disasters (volcanoes, tornadoes, meteors, even fires) were solid in SImcity 4, I feel like the devs are naturally gonna improve upon them. As for these new water proposed disasters, oh baby, it is time! Floods that flood, a tsunami, like someone said, that is a surge of water, etc., hurricanes, droughts (on the flip side), and how are we forgetting bout the whirlpool! Oh please, lets let the devs know that this is what we what them to focus on! Water is back baby!!!
7. A glimpse inside the GlassBox engine

I really do enjoy the clarity and the intelligent design of the inner workings of Simcity (5)! It seems they have learned ALOT in their ... vacation since 4 and are putting it to good use. Though, like I said, I really enjoyed the vids, one thing when it comes to zoning and inhabitation that seems to be absent concerns me: Lack of mixed-zoning. I understand that simplicity is clear and working (both developmentally and economically speaking) but, come on! I think it will take the entire series to a whole nother level to be able to implement the basic real world functioning of Resi-comm, comm-comm, even indi-comm, and Resi-comm-com buildings! And on a funnier note, was anyone else slightly creeped out whenever that guy laughed?
