The neighbourhood of North Downtown continues to grow economically and urbanistically as you can see by a short visit to the northern part of the city business district. North Downtown is separated from its southern section by the municipal canal. This dynamic neighborhood focuses primarily tertiary activities while being more residential than the southern part of the Downtown. This year has resulted in a particularly strong urban development around the old docks which are being converted into a residential sector. Have a nice visit ! Aerial and night views of the neighborhood of North Downtown The northern section of the business district was later urbanized than the historic southern district at the end of the 19th century. However, this neighborhood adopts the same checkerboard urban plan as the rest of the downtown. Constructions were sporadic until the beginning of the 1950s and logistic and port activities only left the area late. The urban spaces bordering Lake Omega have been the subject of a major reconversion to the residential sector. Aerial and night views of the neighborhood of North Downtown This year ends the main phase of the project to convert former docks into residential and commercial areas. More than five years of work were necessary to break through the new marina and complete residential buildings that adopt a resolutely contemporary architecture. The neighborhood also has several sports fields and a school. Aerial and night views of the neighborhood of Honeguas Park The recently completed renovations to Honéguas Park have revitalized this historic park, which delineates the neighborhood to the north. The park has undergone major revegetation while street furniture has been modernized. Aerial views of city's most iconic skyscrapers

Spring arrives and along, the urban life seems to revive. This is why the municipality of Medrean City invites you to stroll in the active and iconic neighbourhood of South Downtown, the historic and beating heart of the city. Let yourself be charmed by this undeniable urban and cosmopolitan atmosphere, have a look on the neighbourhood most iconic skyscrapers or relax in one one of its many parks. Unless you prefer to stroll through the luxury shops of Colonius Avenue, the city's most prestigious thoroughfare. Have a nice visit ! Aerial and night views of the neighbourhood of South Downtown. The southern part of this business district is well known for housing mainly financial firms as well as many banks due to the presence of the city's stock exchange. The square in front of the stock exchange building has just been completely refurbished with the replacement of paving stones and street furniture as well as the addition of several trees and flower beds. Aerial and night views of the city's stock exchange. Conelly Park remains the largest park of the city and one of the most important urban parks in the country. With its location in the heart of the downtown and its recreational facilities, including several baseball and football fields, tennis courts and direct access to the marina, Conelly Park is considered as the busiest and most beautiful park of the city. Aerial and night views of Conelly Park. The southern section of Colonius Avenue is certainly the best place in town for shopping. Indeed, this section of the avenue, whose major renovations have just been completed, is hosted some prestigious shops, restaurants, parks and fine groceries among many iconic skyscrapers. Aerial and night views of Colonius Avenue.

Chicago City Hall Context: Dear devoted BATers, By using the opportunity offered by this very interesting thread, may I suggest the modelling of the Chicago City Hall in order to add a functional, iconic and monumental neoclassical building to the already well supplied STEX collection. I thought about this BAT particularly because it could be a profitable and useful addition due to the deficit of neoclassical landmarks for SC4 despite some beautiful realisation such as JamesFarley Post Office or the Alexander Hamilton Custom House,... Anyway there is no significant realisation of a City Hall that could by used in every kind of city, despite the work done by Mattb325 to create small municipal buildings. Description: As can be seen in the pictures below, the Chicago City Hall is a monumental building with an imposing granite facade composed of ten massive columns. Having said that, the architecture of the building remains quite simple with a parallelepiped shape. The 11-story structure was designed in the classical revival style. The only modern addition is a roof garden at the top of the building. Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: A SC4 version of the Chicago City Hall could represent an opportunity for gamers to replace Maxis City Hall by a better adjusted building. A such addition would definitely be an asset (as a functional building or not finally) among others American buildings, which still represents a large portion of the STEX. However, the architecture of the building itself, which stays internationally compatible, could interest many gamers. Of course, needless to say that this proposal is just an idea pitched to the community

Medrean City olympic park and eco-district
John A. Rivers posted a City Journal entry in Medrean City
On the right, the olympic swimming pool built in 2011 and on the left the velodrome. The municipality is more than pleased to present you the Medrean City olympic park which were built for the 2013 summer games in Simland. Following the aim to assure a complete reconversion of the olympic park in order to assure a sustainable legacy for the city, some infrastructures were dismantled while a new residential district was built on the south part of the park. However, some infrastructures as the olympic stadium, the velodrome or the olympic pool were preserved for a future utility. Below is presented the olympic park with its main sports venues and the new residential eco-district. Have a nice visit ! An aerial view of the olympic park. The former olympic village is situated on the far right while the new residential district is situated at the forefront. An aerial view of the olympic plazas surrounding the sports venues. Aerial views of the velodrome. Night views of the olympic park. The residential eco-district situated on the south of the olympic park is considered as a in demand neighborhood.- 3 Comments

Thank you for your kind comment. In fact, I also like to receive some constructive criticism which helps me to improve the quality of my presentations and the general layout of Medrean City. Even if more than 700 000 inhabitants are currently living on the Downtown map, one of the weaknesses of this game is the lack of traffic animations so I used to have a pluggin that generated a dense traffic but it crashes the game. Regarding the median plazas I'm using between my avenues, I would be ready to share it but I don't know how to proceed to share it on the STEX. maybe I can try to send it directly by PM?

Following the presentation of the neighbourhoods of North Downtown and South Downtown, the municipality of Medrean City is more than happy to welcome you in Near North Side, a mainly residential neighbourhood that is situated between the northwestern section of the Central Business District and Union park, one of the most extended urban park of the city. Considered as a well-off residential area, Near North Side is well known for its high real estate prices, especially for the apartments situated near Omega avenue and Union park. The district also has the reputation of being home to many Medrean City's cultural institutions such as the Federation library, Omega theatre and the ethnographic museum. One particularity of this neighbourhood is its urban planning legislation that limit the height of the buildings in order to preserve its historical atmosphere. Wishing you a nice visit.

The municipality of Medrean City has the pleasure to welcome you in North Downtown, the northern part of the Central Business District. At first look, North Downtown don't seems to distinguish from its southern part but a careful watch will allow us to discover the distinctive atmosphere of this neighbourhood. North Downtown is also well known to house some city's most iconic buildings and it contains renowned commercial zones along the famous Colonius Avenue and Columbus Avenue. While South Downtown is considered as the main financial center of the city, North Downtown is more considered as commercial, entertainment, and media center. This neighbourhood is more residential as the area also host apartments towers. Wishing you a nice visit. The north section of Colonius Avenue, a thoroughfare going through the Downtown, is mainly known to host outstanding residence, corporate headquarters, upscale shops, parks and cultural attractions such as the Natural History Museum or the Art Deco style Meridional Building. Parallel to Colonius Avenue, Columbus Avenus can be considered as the second largest and busiest thoroughfare of North Downtown, hosting some of the most expensive apartments and hotels of the neighbourhood. The municipally of Medrean City hopes that you enjoyed your stay in North Downtown and can't wait to welcome you in Near North Side, the residential neighbourhood situated at the west of the Downtown area.

South Downtown, also commonly referred to as the Financial District is definitely the busiest and the well-known neighbourhood of Medrean City. Housing the offices and headquarters of many of the Simland Federation's major companies and financial institutions, including the Medrean City-Ckrystahal Stock Exchange. South Downtown is considered as the historic center of Medrean City where the European settlers founded the city in 1836. Even if most of the oldest buildings have been replaced by some most impressive structures and skyscrapers in the late 19th century, South Downtown is still housing some remains of this period. Whatever could be the reason of your stay in South Downtown, for business or for leisure, you can be certain that this neighbourhood will let you unforgettable feelings. Wishing you a nice visit. South Downtown is a major transportation node, accessible by the city's subway, trains and the Interstate 7 which carries north and southbound traffic from the suburbs. The Intertstate 7 is connected with Colonius Avenue, a major north-south street which is well-known for being the the main commercial street of Medrean City, housing both offices, museums, luxury apartments and many upscale shops. As South Downtown is considered to be primarily a destination for daytime traders and office workers, the neighbourhood is housing many parks where it is pleasant to walk during a lunch break or a day-off. Did you enjoy your stay in South Downtown ? The municipal council hope so and can't wait to present you the next district of North Downtown an other day.
