  1. NAM: Requests - 2nd Edition

Thanks for the reply! And that would be awesome! Grouping the "rural two-tile cross-section" in with a revamped Rural Roads Plugin would be great, because I think that's probably the most useful application of it. Chances are if an area is urbanized you've already widened the road out to its desired width. The pedmall idea is a great interim solution though. I think there are a few textures that look pretty rural in nature, so they would blend in pretty well with the neighbouring farm fields. It just looks off when I put down 4-lane roads through what is mostly farm fields, just to avoid having to demolish everything on one side of the road later on.
  2. NAM: Requests - 2nd Edition

I've been laying out a farming community with the intent of the urbanized area eventually stretching out into it, which involves laying out rural roads that will eventually be widened and urbanized. One of the challenges I've been having is when I go from a one-tile to a two-tile network, everything on one side of the road gets blown out (sometimes including the farm houses or random residential I've added). What would be great is if as part of the NWM there was an option to place a standard road such that it straddled two tiles instead of one. Basically, building in a two-tile right-of-way for a standard two-lane, one-tile road. This would ensure that all development is set far enough back from the road that when I do go to widen it out to its urban configuration, nothing gets demolished to do that. I would imagine it would be similar to how the current two-tile networks work, where after placing the starter piece, dragging the left side builds half the road, and dragging the right side builds the other half. Any chance this could make it into a future NAM cycle? Thanks so much!
  3. I think you're right that it's a MacOS thing. I believe I did a minor OS update between when I played the game last and when I tried playing it again. I tried a fresh install and had the same result. Here's hoping the new Ventura release in a couple weeks will solve the issue. Thanks again for your help!
  4. Thank you for looking into it, much appreciated! When launching the App Store version of the game, the options presented are quite limited (see screenshot below). Even the 'ads' below are improperly sized, and the menu at the top is slightly blurry. Do you think a wipe and re-install would do anything? If so, I know there's the app package within the Applications folder, as well as the Library > Containers path. Is there anywhere else where SC4 files hide that I have to delete in order to get a completely clean uninstall? Thanks again!
  5. Hi Everyone, I came back to SC4 after not playing for a bit, and when I launched my game for the first time in months my display options were all screwed up. I'm on an M1 MacBook Pro, and before I was able to set to the native resolution of 1440 x 900, but when I launch now I'm only able to use the game defaults like 1024 x 768, which leads it to look all squished. Is there any way to overwrite the 'default' display options and get the game to recognize the display options for my particular mac? Again, it was working before, but something got messed up along the way. Thanks!
  6. Installing Mods (NAM) on Big Sur for SC4

Thanks for the explanation! I just wanted to make sure there was a legit reason behind it and not some random file in my Plugins reacting in a funny way and slowing down the process. And good to know it’s only for the first city launched. I’ve been doing a lot of CTD testing lately, so that’s probably why I noticed it more, since every launch was a first launch.
  7. Installing Mods (NAM) on Big Sur for SC4

Great to know, thank you! I tried it out, and they are in fact all there. Weird how that they made that change between versions. I didn't have any old NAM files that I knew of in my Plugins folder, but I did some cleaning and removed a few that I wasn't sure what they were (they were really old files from when I needed to dat pack in order to run the game, back when the App Store version was first released). Seems to be working now! I'm planning on getting a new MacBook relatively soon, since my 2011 Air is getting a bit sluggish. It would be an M1, so I wanted to upgrade SC4 to the 64-bit version and get all the kinks worked out before I got my new laptop. One thing I have noticed though is since NAM 39, cities take significantly longer to load. The difference in load time between NAM 38 and NAM 39+ (including the new NAM 42) is 3-4x as long. Any idea what could be causing that? Thanks for your help!
  8. Installing Mods (NAM) on Big Sur for SC4

So I recently updated to NAM 42, and finally made the jump to using the 64-bit SC4 through the App Store. I had avoided the update because of the CTD issues and such. I've flipped back and forth a few times, but always kept the v1.1.1 copy in a separate location so I could downgrade. There are a few things with NAM 42 that worked fine under the 32-bit version that no longer work with the 64-bit version. 1) The RHW starters menu no longer toggles through all of the options. It goes RHW 4 L0, RHW 3 L0, RHW 6C L0, RHW 8C L0, RHW 10S L0, RHW 4 L1, RHW 3 L1, RHW 6C L1, RHW 8C L1, RHW 10S L1, RHW 4 L2, RHW 3 L2, RHW 6C L2, RHW 8C L2, RHW 10S L2, MIS L3, RHW L4, RHW 6S L4. So basically, I'm no longer able to place MIS, 6S, or 8S starter pieces. I checked, and this was working just fine with the 32-bit version, so something got messed up when I switched to 64-bit. Plug-in folder didn't change at all when I upgraded. 2) NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat causes a CTD in the 64-bit version, but doesn't in the 32-bit version. Again, no idea why, but I went through the NAM files one by one to see what was causing it, and that's the one I found by process of elimination. I can also confirm that that file in NAM 41 did not cause the same CTD, so there was something in it, or how it interfaces with another file, that was changed for NAM 42. Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated! It’s just strange to me that upgrading the game itself would cause NAM files that haven’t been modified at all to behave so differently like that. And again, I have both versions 1.1.1 and 1.2.1 on my computer, so I’m able to test both.
Looks great, thank you! Much more realistic looking for the longer commuter rail stations.
  9. Diagonal Rail, GLR, Bus and Subway Stations

Awesome! I really like the look of these for a bare-bones type of commuter rail station. They're also a realistic length for commuter rail trains.
  10. Diagonal Rail, GLR, Bus and Subway Stations

These are awesome! I've always had a hard time finding good stations to place on diagonals. Thanks! Any chance of making a straight version of it too? Would be nice to have a system-wide consistent look, regardless of what angle the track is on.
  11. NAM: Requests - 2nd Edition

There are two RHW pieces that I'm missing that I'm hoping will be included in the next version of NAM. They are: 1) A 270º L1-L0 ramp (basically, the loop ramp inside a cloverleaf). There's the 180º version for on/off ramps now, but that doesn't perfectly suit a highway to highway interchange where the two meet perpendicularly. 2) The inverse of a Type A2 ramp that can be used on the inside (currently inside only supports A1). I'm looking to create an express-collector system, and I'd like to have two lanes exit the right of the express lanes (which I can do now), and then merge onto the left side of the collector lanes (which I can't do now). If anyone could tell me if these are planned to be included, that would be greatly appreciated. Keep up your great work!
  12. SC4 in macOS High Sierra

I tried resetting the PRAM on my machine, and nothing. I'm not sure how I would go about checking for an up-to-date driver, but I'm on a 2011 MacBook Air if that helps. I also tried playing around with the display settings in the game itself, and nothing works. I'm going to wait and see if 10.13.1 solves the issue. If not, I may have to go back down to Sierra, though that would be a hassle. I appreciate the reply though!
  13. SC4 in macOS High Sierra

I recently upgraded to MacOS High Sierra, and I went to play a city today and noticed this weird texturing was happening (attaching image files isn't working in the forum right now, so I included a link to the image in my dropbox. I played the city a couple days ago when I was still on macOS Sierra, and it worked just fine, so it's clearly an issue with the upgrade. I was running NAM 35, but when I saw the error I updated to NAM 36, hoping it would fix it (it didn't). I'm running v1.1.1 of the Mac AppStore downloaded version. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else run into this problem?
  14. Hi All, So I bought Cities: Skylines a few days ago, and I've been playing with it a bit. The thing I find the most frustrating is the way you place roads and zones. Unlike SimCity, Skylines forces you to place the new road segment at the end of your last road segment. Also, apparently to deselect the tool there's the option to right click, which on a trackpad isn't so easy. Also, hitting control + click doesn't seem to work (which is right click on a mac trackpad). Is there any way to change the settings so that it allows you to place the next road segment anywhere you want, instead of confining you where you ended your previous segment? It becomes extremely tedious. Thanks!
