SC4 Tools on Windows Partition with Mac High Sierra
tariely posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
It's a mixed problem so I am posting here as well as on the Mac forum, to hedge my bets. I don't play on Mac anymore (but I played a loooong time on it). I finally gave up a few years back, partitioned and installed Win8.1. I recently ugraded to HighSierra 10.13. Reinstalled the Parallels partition and Windows 8.1. Reinstalled all my SC4 tools programs. Everything works except SC4 Tools. I am having the same problems as I did last summer, (some of the functions... don't function) ; I duly went back to the thread I opened on the LEX and followed the instructions again (setting the paths for Steam and saving them) -- except that if it worked for the T.E. Editor, and some functions seem OK, it doesn't work for the rest (see pict ; I spare you the actual screen captures; some functions have a question mark after OK because I didn't actually use them -- don't know how to use them and have never needed them -- others I did use and got freezes when trying to open a file). My question for now is : can there be a problem of 32 bits versus 64 bits here, even though I am on the partition ? Or is it something else ?-

Hello, I'm on the way to upgrade my Mac from a Macbook Pro (Maverick) to an Imac 21,5 (Sierra or High Sierra). Before doing an expensive mistake, I have a very simple question: Is SC4 running properly under MacOS Sierra or High Sierra ? Please no speculations or advise to run it with some Windows emulator, I'd like to get a feedback from gamers owning a Mac with Sierra or High Sierra and playing SC4 on it. Thank you for your answers.

For those who haven't heard yet, Apple announced at this year's Worldwide Development Conference (WWDC) that it was going to be phasing out support for 32-bit applications for macOS in 2018. The main points of the announcement are as follows: Beginning January 2018, no new 32-bit applications will be allowed on the Mac App Store. Beginning June 2018, all apps on the Mac App Store must have 64-bit support. macOS High Sierra (10.13) will be the last version of macOS to support 32-bit applications "without compromise". As SimCity 4 is a 32-bit application, and it is very, very unlikely that Aspyr would invest in conversion to 64-bit (it would require a complete re-work of the original source code from EA), this would appear to put the future of the Mac port of the game in doubt, particularly once macOS 10.14 is released. Since EA also built SC2013 as a 32-bit application, it would also be subject to the same. If so, this is a pretty huge blow on Apple's part, and even more damaging to SC4's Mac userbase than Microsoft's changes were for Windows users. -Tarkus

I recently upgraded to MacOS High Sierra, and I went to play a city today and noticed this weird texturing was happening (attaching image files isn't working in the forum right now, so I included a link to the image in my dropbox. I played the city a couple days ago when I was still on macOS Sierra, and it worked just fine, so it's clearly an issue with the upgrade. I was running NAM 35, but when I saw the error I updated to NAM 36, hoping it would fix it (it didn't). I'm running v1.1.1 of the Mac AppStore downloaded version. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else run into this problem?
