  1. hello, ive been working with google sketchup for a very good time now. i use it for everything in my models. ive recently uploaded a couple lots ive made and ive got some helpful reviews saying i should post here for thoughts or info on making the lots more realistic. I think one problem i have in using sketchup is when i used textures, they render much brighter in the BAT then they should be. I try to adjust knowing this and its getting better. But other then that, what are your thought on my 2 lots ive uploaded? Please give me some advise or ideas. im new to uploading lots and they do not have nightlights cause i havent figured out how to add them successfully. ive search the omnibus but i have about 0 know how in the bat and gmax besides rendering the models for the game. Thats about all i do in gmax BAT. So any links to nightlighting tutorials for unknowledged gmaxers would be helpful.     DETAILS This is a 8x6 high school lot that has a capacity of 1500 students. Based on a real location in Wellsville, OH. This may be revised to lengthen the bell tower. This lot has no nightlights. no dependencies HISTORY Built in 1880 and torn down in 1955, The Central School building educated the kids of Wellsville, OH for 75 years. Now replaced with McDonald Elementary School on the same ground. It featured a tall bell tower in the center and had a large auditorium on its 3rd floor, which was closed off as unsafe in 1953, the last year it was open.

    thank you for the advise. let me know if everything works as it should please. no boxes or anything. it shouldnt but im new to uploading i also wanted to say i have alot more models built in sketchup. Other stadiums, a wall project, a W2W project, a full complete university project (this lot is part of that). I hope to get better with lights and such and upload several lots to the STEX in the near future.

    DAVYNSBURGH UNIVERSITY PROJECT This is a 10x10 Landmark lot and is a fictional university stadium. Part of the Davynsburgh University project and is the home of the Tigers baseball team. The stadium was built using Sketchup and currently has no nightlights. It features Baileys Bar & Grill in right field.   5. I've been working a lot on building lots using Google sketch up, then importing to gmax. But all the time I've put into building my projects, I feel applying night lights is a task I doubt I wanna try and tackle right now. I was wondering if there is anybody out there that is willing to apply them for me if I am able to send the correct files to be edited? I can post pics if interested.

    This is just one of many models i have made using sketchup. I may study up on lighting and wait to show them on here until their done.
  7. How do I make a 1x1 lot that is bigger then 1 tile? I've downloaded lots that only took 1 tile to plop but were much bigger then that. Like the newer statue of liberty on the stex. I was wondering how to do this?
  8. I've created a great boxing arena and boxing hall of fame building attached. I'vebeen building this in sketchup 8 pro. I export it as 3D and open it in SC4BAT. And then.. Some or all of the walls or roof or seating area which is up then over then up then over are all white instead of the color or texture Iapplied to it in ssketch up. Then when i render.. All of the surfaces that were white are now not visible at all. The surfaces that had the textures I applied are there. Now I have put tons and tons of hours into working on fixing this and nothing works. I only find the same forums that don't help me in here. If I can't figure this out soon I'm on the verg of quiting and going back to simply playing the game. It may have something to do with the textures I'm applying or if I apply it to the front and not the back or both.. Idk. But please someone help me before I give up. I have tons of awesome building ideas that everybody would love..

  10. Ahh.. I started playing around with the faces and got the model to render better than it has yet. Only the boxing ring needs fixed but I can prob figure that out. Thank you so much!

  12. Ok.. i have been playing sc4 and downloading from here for many years. I also have been using sketchup for years. i just found out how to import sketchup models into sc4. But a few issues im having. First i create the building in sketchup. I made a simple 1x2 building. [attachment=13067:sketchup.png] then import the 3ds model into gmax. [attachment=13068:gmaxrender.png] But then when i put it into the lot editor, the building is not alligned with the lot correctly. [attachment=13069:loteditor.png] which then is plopped into the game not right at all. It appears exactly as it is seen in the above photo. any help with this?

    Now.. I try rendering the building and more times than not.. Some or all of the walls are missing. Idk if its a texture problem but I've tried different basic colors and tons of textures but nothing works. I try over and over testing different stuff but nothing works.. Any help?

    im planning on creating Wellsville but will be impossible to be 100% accurate do to the angles of the roads and such but will do as best as i possibly can. It may end up looking like a city BASED off of Wellsville but we will see. im having problems importing buildings from sketchup to gmax to the lot editor but im working hard on fixing it. i made a post in the BAT forrum if anybody could help.

    Wellsville is a small town along the Ohio River in Columbiana County of Ohio. Wellsville was founded in 1795 and peeked in population in 1920 at 8,849 residence. Population in 2010 was down to 3,541. Wellsville was a huge pottery industry town and was a major part of the railway connections to Pittsburgh and Cleveland. The drop in population in large part was due to the closing of many pottery plants and factories throughout the area. Also due to the construction of the Route 7 highway which took out a very large part of the edge of the city in the 1970's.
