  1. It's hard to believe it's been almost 20 years on this site.

I actually started re-learning 3dsmax today, no chance of making BATs again, but it brings back memories.

  2. CT14's Railroad Lots and BAT

Glad I can be the measuring stick against which your work is judged. One quick question, do any of these pieces include a door for workers/employees? If you take away nothing else from my models, pay attention to proportions and how subtle change in the texture has a big visual impact (Miller St could have been better in this regard). If you add a blotch or stain, try to tie those changes in texture to something in the surfaces' surroundings or sensible wear (like a low spot along a drainage path). You do not need to have a really dramatic change in texture (that is, contrast or color) in order to have the desired impact. Also, try adding some noise or try re-sizing textures so that you don't end up with faces that look like a flat color. With reinforced concrete industrial buildings this isn't easy to do, but look at Fisher Body 21 as an example if you need to. I have one other texturing note; in the BSP*, we always calibrated our color palette against similar Maxis buildings. I think a similar approach may be helpful for you.

Established in 1908, the Fisher Body Company's automobile bodies quickly became the industry standard. In 1919 they built the massive Fisher Body Plant #21. The company was sold to General Motors in 1926, and the Fisher Brothers used the proceeds of the sale to build the opulent Fisher Building in nearby New Center. In 1984 General Motors sold the building, which was then used as a paint factory until 1993 when it closed for good My magnum opus, never have I poured so much sweat tears and blood into a BAT as I have for you, my beloved Fisher Body 21. Will probably be a good long time before I attempt something so big again , so you shall be unique for a while. Lit with Trunite dark night. This upload includes: Two lots, one Plopable, one growable, both 11x7 This may take you quite a while to grow, but it is possible without the use of mods. I have been asked a few times to supply this model in the past. I finally found the motivation to dig it out of my plugins folder. THIS DOES NOT COME WITH A LOT! .sc4model only! This is the model only. I have neither the game nor any of the modding tools installed at this point so you will have to do the modding and make the lot yourself. Sorry! The images show what I cooked up... 8 years ago?!? Jeez, I can't believe it has been so long. I have a full time job and another hobby that eats most of my free time, but I miss all of you that made SC4 fun for as long as I was active. This is the CJ entry where it was used:

The Barry Sanders Project presents Aluminum Architectural Metals Company! AAMC (because the real title is a lot to say over and over ) is a warehouse located on Franklin street in Rivertown area of Detroit. This is the first building of hopefully many in my W2W industry project. Go to any old American city and you will find workshops, factories, and warehouses, not exclusively separated and detached like in SC4, but large districts that are built W2W like any other city block. There are four versions available: Two plopable and growable I-M lots, two with maxis job levels, two with x4 Capacity. Rendered with Trunite. Included files: Each lot is in a clearly labeled folder, keep as many as you like. The x4 lots have 92 jobs and are on a 2x2 lot and is W2W (on one side). The "maxis jobs" lots have 23 jobs and are on a 1x2 lot and is W2W (on both sides). The folder labeled Model File - REQUIRED is required to avoid a brown box! Stats are included in a nifty .rtf in the download! Usually I would recommend picking either the maxis jobs or the x4, but since they are on separate size lots, the choice is up to you. 9. The Manhattanville project is dedicated to re-creating buildings from Manhattanville, a NYC neighborhood that is now being redeveloped. Until recently, the neighborhood was a good example of an old inner city industrial district. It hosted a large concentration of a type of building that is quite common in reality, but not so much in SC4: Wall to wall industrial buildings. With this project we would like to provide more custom content for the game and remember a piece of old new york that is slowly disappearing. Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
