6 pointsAUTHOR'S NOTE: First off, I am overwhelmed. Yes, I am overwhelmed that I could cry. Thank you guys for all the comments. You just don't know how it inspires me much. I made this CJ because I just want to show the world how I play simcity and I am very happy that you have appreciated my style. Arigatou Gozaimasu! Just another out of the update announcement: Starting today, all my city journal updates will be taken into a first-point of view speaker. Each update is also stand alone but sometimes correlated. So when you skipped an update, fret not, you are not behind, as a matter of fact, welcome, you are just in time. The current theme is still in trial status, if the administrators and moderators permit, I think I will not have more problem. 6 pointsReplies: Entry 10: A Tour through Marinko (Part 2) Welcome back and today we continue our tour of the state by visiting Tonraqa, a small town, built around a inlet and quite possibly, the opposite of Uskopoit in every way. Whether its the peaceful village of Kovda shown here, or the bustling town itself the quality of life is the amongst the best in the state. Owing to the farmland that surrounds the town and the large commercial and recreational centre brought on by the small secluded beach, the area is very popular and has all the amenities that Uskopoit lacks. Below we can see some of the more important parts of the town. Starting at the ferry port, this small terminal is one of the most used terminals in the entire state owing mainly to the shopping and recreational areas of the town. Boat traffic however is limited due to reasons you'll discover in a minute, hence why the marina isn't bigger for the popular destination it is. Another popular area of the town is this farmers market. Used by the farmers around the town to sell straight to the public, this is a popular place on Saturdays and Wednesday when the market is held. The main draw for Tonraqa however, is the small beach. Easily maintainable and sheltered this beach is generally busy throughout the summer months where sometimes it can be hard to find a spot. This next image shows a zoomed out overview of the actual town of Tonraqa. In the bottom right you can see the rocks locally known as Old Man's Teeth, which together with the narrow entrance to the small bay is the cause of the traffic issues. You can also see the rest of the town, including the farmers market and its commercial beach front. Finally for this part of the tour we'll take a look at an overview of the area around Tonraqa with Kovda in the bottom left and Tonraqa in the centre. That's all for this entry. Join me next time when we take a look at Nielsovskiy, the next stop on our tour. Till then. James

I switched to the terrain mod you sent me. Huston, on 26 Apr 2014 - 06:07 AM, said: This region shot still really alluring. Good job integrating the woodland, farmland and main city so smoothly. Yes, as I mentioned to jmsepe above, when I was in Quebec, I notice many of the towns were like that. Not so much suburban sprawl just scattered over the landscape. Schulmanator, on 26 Apr 2014 - 07:16 AM, said: Great pic Thanks for the visit! Moerp, on 26 Apr 2014 - 08:43 AM, said: Your building style is so incredible realistic! And I love realism^^ Well, there have been a few other members that excelled in this type of region, most notably Mr. Beer, and I've been inspired by them in that respect. Thank you. feeroz123, on 26 Apr 2014 - 2:50 PM, said: This is a pic taken from a flight over the region ! Awesome work ! As you can see, there is still a lot of tiles yet to be played. Wallibuk, on 26 Apr 2014 - 6:14 PM, said: very structured area, nice Thanks for the visit! raynev1, on 27 Apr 2014 - 08:16 AM, said: Region views are my favorite , this one looks fantastic . 5/5 Yes, they seem to be popular. I'll do another when there is some development east of the river. Update: Brattleboro has become quite urbanized, with numerous large residential and office towers, and a metro population of almost 300,000 residents. Financial services, insurance and corporate offices have transformed the city's core, adding thousands of jobs. Many workers in these businesses now live in the city center, enjoying the amenities of urban life. While most of the residential growth has been on the western side of the river, a new metro line under the Rock River, and abundant land will bring an anticipated surge in residential growth here. Residential and office buildings cluster around the civic center. Some high-end condos with parks and ponds, and more modest apartments across the street. Care to ride in a helicopter and land up here? The Rock River dam is the oldest in the region and still functions as flood control and electrical gerneraton. By for now... Dick

3 pointsReplies: Schriefer: Thank you, I've finally got a good idea of how to create rivers plus the surrounding scenery. However there still quite a few things to polish up. Vitor13: Thanks. sargeantcm: It is good but there are some rough spots which I'm not happy with, there is definitely room for improvement. C4RACORTADA: Thank you. Huston: Waterfalls are so hard to get right. I use the JENX Poseidon mod and one problem is that you cannot fully cover up the waterfall tiles with MMPs. At a glance it looks all smooth, but close up you can see the gaps! MariusMR: Cheers! Tonraq: Sexy? Hmm, I never saw my waterfall as sexy. Schulmanator: You have a knack for nature pictures to. Roman_Samudra: You know your comment has given me the idea of creating a course for rally racing. I'll add that to my list of things to do in my project list. tankmank: You're damned right, it did take many hours to produce something presentable! Canyons and MMPs do not go well together during implementation! blunder: Thank you for the PMs. city89: Thanks. 89James89: The stone plateaus were the most fun to create. Update 26: Stokesley- Toral's Peak It's been a while since I published a mountain entry. I'll start this one off with a few pictures of the winding road which leads to the start of Stapler's Path, the main footpath which leads to Toral's Peak. Lower Stokesley. Upper Stokesley. Toral's Peak. A very old dormant volcano, tens of thousands of years ago a powerful eruption blew off the top third of this mountain. Successive ice ages proceeded to sculpt out the three sides of Toral's Peak. Each side once bore a corrie from where a glacier originated. Now the only remnants of the glaciation are two meltwater lakes. However while Toral's Peak is not volcanically active, the magma chamber below still superheats the water. With the vent fully blocked the only release for the water, as it condenses higher up inside the mountain, is through one old fissure- the mountain's weak spot. During long periods of rain the waterfall rages, but during dry periods it can slow to barely a trickle. In essence this waterfall is more akin to a very large spring situated above a huge aquifer. Stapler's Path begins at Upper Stokesley. Goatswater lake, the ground below the water is rather porous and the water seeps below before evaporating when it reaches the magma chamber deep below. Sometimes, during periods of heavy rain, the lake can swell to twice its size and sometimes even spill over. Stapler's Path splits in two here, there is the North side and the South side. In this entry we will walk up the South side and go down the North side in one large loop. It is at higher altitudes where the Berner Oberland terrain mod and the ARDEN tree controller really begin to shine. The imposing West side of Toral's Peak. The North side... The ARDEN tree controller in action, it produces amazing results at high altitudes. Please note; I use the evergreen inland version. Travelling down the North side of Stapler's Path. /// The next several entries are going to alternate between Stokesley, Treblane and of course night pictures. During this time I will be working on another city; a mixture of light industry, retail parks and agriculture.

2 pointsRico River is a northern suburb of Rum Rock Harbor. The Rico, or "El Agua Diablo" as the locals like to call it, is a recreational paradise. However, it's claimed many souls over the years, as inexperienced and inebriated tourists have tried to tame these rocky rapids after drinking one too many Miller High Life's. It's a great place to go camping if you like nature; it's a great place to hide if you're on the run from the cops. "The Six O'clock" is rolling into Rico River Station. Those commuters smell like train diesel, sweat and failed business deals. That's the Rico River industrial complex. Those hard working blue collar workers churn out lawn fertilizer, outdoor wear, and Snuggies. There's the source of the Rico River. Meryl Streep once tried to run the Rico with Kevin Bacon after he kidnapped her and her son. Sadly, Kevin didn't make it. (Bonus points if you can name the reference.) Rico High School is the home of the "Fighting Bass". The football team is a dismal 0 and 7 this year cause the players spend too much time down at the river trying to pick up sunbathing chicks. Thanks for checking out my CJ. One of these days one of my pictures is gonna make it to the Simtropolis slideshow. Until that day, I'll just keep drinking and making cities. Feel free to leave a comment!

2 pointsReplies: GaryF: Thanks for the reply. I've redone this region three times over the past year just to get the town to start how I like it. It took awhile but it was worth it. Regarding the repetitiveness. The people of Provident Bay were concentrating on survival when they built these homes. Their creativity will show eventually, I promise. PeterStuyvesant: The colonial homes are the Jenp London Terraces. They grow like crazy when you first start a city tile, so it makes it easy to grow a colonial neighborhood Schulmanator: Thanks! I appreciate you taking time to check in. A Town Grows The year is 1908. The people of Provident Bay have been concentrating of surviving since they arrived 2 years ago, After a record fishing season(all year here at Provident Bay) there is plenty of food, the population is on the rise, and for the first time the town is looking to grow. Provident Bay's Mayor, Carter, realizes that more people means more food and resources are needed. The current dock and town hall were built to only support the first citizens and aren't able to support a growing population. His plan is to build not only a dock but a market so the town can trade its fish and unique goods found only at Provident Bay. Provident Bay's Market Hall. Built in 3 months is an instant success. Foods and other goods from all over are now arriving in Provident Bay. Provident Dock. With Carter's mapping of the boulders and the new dock, cargo ships are able to arrive once a week instead of once a month. Here dock workers are preparing the dock for the next arriving ship. ...Fast forward a year and the affects of the new dock and market can be seen... 1909 is year of Firsts for Provident Bay. The first factory is built, Walter's Wagons. There are a few cars driving around at Provident Bay, but for the most part everything is transported on one of Walter's Wagons. Provident Bay's first defense building, Fort Alexander can also be seen in the same picture. Provident's citizens are one of the most friendly group of people but they aren't naive. They realize what they have here and they don't want to lose it The population has even grow so much that the first skyscraper is built. The Times Building stands at 188 feet and 12 stories and houses the towns newspaper company, The Provident Times Co. Provident Bay's police force used to be housed in the town hall but with the growth of the town a new building was needed. 4 brand new state of the art police cruisers are seen in the picture. Several other businesses have opened up in Provident Bay along Main Street. With the growth of the town a new system is needed to ship packages and transport mail. Provident Bay welcomed its first postal office with open arms. Mail within the town is now same day delivery and the amount of mail and packages that are lost has dropped below 1%. After a trip to New York City to visit his mother, James Xcel, one of the wealthier citizens, was so impressed with the electric street lights that he decided he wanted that for Provident Bay. With his own money he founded Xcel Power Co which brought more than enough power to Provident Bay free of charge. Currently Coal is brought by ship to Power Dock, but surveyors have been sent out to look for other options. Power Transmission lines bring power from the Xcel power plant to Provident Bay. The old style colonial homes are no longer the norm and new styles of homes are being built in Provident Bay. An overview of Provident Bay. Population has surged to over 3000. One might notice the line of missing trees and wonder why....

2 pointsEast Tenne: The Adventures of Lawyer Cat Lawyer Cat has been at it again. There has been a big fuss over in the Theater District of the capital... Frankly, I am not sure what they were complaining about... it looks fine to me! Lawyer Cat will be bringing this to the Supreme Wirdle for a ruling forthwith! Wirtyplace, the seat of power of Schulmania, home to the Supreme Wirdle As Lawyer Cat approached the entrance, he was accosted by a group of feline petitioners and asked to take a petition from them to the Supreme Wirdle as well. The petition was from the felines in the capital and is directed toward the humanoids in the National Capital Region. He agreed to carry the petition in with him. In case you are a humanoid, you'd better see the petition... We'll see what her rulings are in these two cases soon!

1 pointIt will be very familiar to those who love the genre, but it will also do new things and set its own priorities and focus areas: It will be a single-player game that works completely offline. The goal is to simulate one whole, huge region at once - no need for tiny city lots or artificial city interaction dynamics. It will be affordable and will not rely on DLC. Alpha and Beta versions will be available for a reduced price. Moddability will be a priority, not an afterthought. 1 pointThe Northward Isles are a group of islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean. Their origin can be traced to the mid-Atlantic Ridge - a constructive tectonic plate boundary that has been responsible for creating many of the Ocean's islands, including Iceland. The islands' history is one of conquest and colonialism. Having been used by numerous expeditionary forces as a stop-over point during the European colonial expansions, they soon became a vital and valuable military station and the French, British and Dutch all at one point or another claimed overall control of the Islands. In the 18th Century the Bartholomew Campaign, a British military invasion of the islands under General Samson Bartholomew, resulted in the attackers forcing the Dutch occupants out of the islands for good, and ever since, the islands have remained under British rule as a protectorate. Firstly under the British Empire and now as a member of the Commonwealth. Prior to the arrival of European explorers, there was no indigenous population on the islands, they were occupied only by the local wildlife, which was dominated by sea birds and seals. As soon as the Europeans arrived, settlers began to move in and small towns and villages cropped up around the many natural harbours. With the settlers came new wildlife - both intentional such as sheep and cattle, and unintentional - small mammals such as mice, rabbits and rats were soon a common sight across the islands. General Bartholomew's victory led to the main island, previously known as Vasteland (Mainland in English) being renamed in his honour and now Bartholomew is the location of the main settlement Staunton. Well that sets the scene for this City Journal! I'm a fairly fresh face on Simtropolis but I've been a member of the site for a number of years now, just been content to read and enjoy everyone else's CJs without ever putting one together myself. Well, I've made a commitment to myself to change that, and after a couple of false starts, here we are! The Northward Isles Protectorate is your typical island colony, though I'm attempting to make this one slightly more populous and urban than say the Falklands! I'd like to make it clear though before I get any further into this CJ that it is a platform that neither defends nor attacks colonialism, it is merely just an interesting backstory to a bunch of ocean islands, so no political debates please! I'll be updating this as often as I can, and as I'm starting from scratch it may be a little while before we see any skyscrapers, but I'm looking forward to the adventure of finally giving an SC4 region a proper shot. Without further ado, let's get to some images. First of all, what introductory post would be complete without a region view? Here are the islands in all their glory: This is a region I've terraformed myself and comprises four large city tiles along with numerous medium and small tiles around them. As you can see, I really am starting from scratch on this! Also, you'll have to excuse the mis-matched colours on different parts - I couldn't get them all to save on the same colour! The names of the islands' five Districts are visible on the map. Bartholomew has already been introduced but the others are included for reference. I'll be aiming to get some level of development (whether that's rural agricultural areas or urban towns and cities) across all of the islands so chances are the CJ will flit between different places depending on what I've been working on. And to finish off, the Northward Isles' flag, for those interested: The Union Jack is a reminder of the islands' status as a protectorate within the Commonwealth, whilst the coat of arms signifies a number of aspects. Firstly, the five-pointed yellow star represents the five Districts that make up the islands' government. The green and blue represent the harmony between land and sea that has characterised life on the islands since they were settled, and the white stripe is a symbol of strength, referencing an old island tale that has been passed down the generations. Maybe I'll tell it one day! Anyway, that's it for the introduction, keep a look out for new updates which I'll endeavour to make as frequent as possible, and most importantly thanks for reading! I look forward to your comments and questions - ask away!

1 pointWhatever gave you that idea? The autobar dealcoholizes any drink for people who are not allowed to have it, but we stock a full bar. We guessed you meant the small meatballs that properly go in a soup. These are made of lamb, flavoured with caraway and harissa. We used regular button mushrooms in preparation of the soup adding a few shiitake near the end. Enjoy. After your meal and tea, maybe you might enjoy this Singapore Sling? Yes, Mr Moose, I'll enjoy the Lamb Meatball soup and mushroom. I'll take that. Also, since you allow liquor and suggest Singapore Sling,I think I'll order another drink... Vodka Martini, shaken not stir, James Bond's favorite drink (Sorry for harsh word, sir)

1 pointEnjoy your breakfast. The "ballroom" is called "The Great Room" it has a fireplace that takes up most of the North wall, a small stage in front of that for a head table, and general table seating for 10 per table. The usual white damask service and a special China dinner service made at Limoges, France in the early 20th century. The flatware is Sterling Silver. All of this is policed by the KK Dragon who has an affinity for any mobile equipment going out the door. While KK is a nice enough guy for a dragon, he has been known to cook thieves where they stand. I think the last people who received his attention were named Thenardier. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, if heaven won't take you, the devil must.

1 pointHave you tried using the Nvidia control panel? Under 3D Settings -> Manage 3D settings, then under the "Global Settings" tab, you can choose which adapter to prefer (as opposed to the default "Auto Select"). Also, under the "Program Settings" tab on the same page, you can choose an application (like SimCity 4) and the adapter to prefer (like your NVidia card). If you don't have the NVidia control panel, you can download it here. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers. Note: This only works if your system recognizes both of your adapters. If only one is recognized, read on... You may also be able to disable the onboard Intel HD 4000 adapter from BIOS and/or enable the Nvidia adapter. Are you familiar with accessing your system BIOS? Just be careful as on some machines, if you do this, you can lose your video entirely and end up with a blank screen - which can make it difficult to restore factory defaults.

1 pointAnd again.. The thread isnt about rainforest. Rainforest has nothing to do with the video or the thread itselft... And yes, that is clear, that leads to nowhere.. Now, I watched a video some time ago, in which The United Nations (not sure) asked Brazil to protect its rainforest, since it was a "patrimony of humanity" or a lung for the world. What truly amazed me is the answer to that, and how sharp that answer was. Im gonna try to find the link for you guys...

1 pointYeah. I'm guessing you're forgetting about Stage Limits. What this essentially means is that larger buildings will not, in any circumstance, appear until your region has reached a certain stage limit. Stage Limits apply no matter how high your demand is, and usually override demand. Note that Stage Limits are region specific. That means your entire region must qualify for a higher Stage Limit. This is good news, as it is incredibally easy to get your region to 200,000+ population (using multiple cities). So to fix this problem, start creating more cities in the Region. Also, don't forget about Demand Caps. Demand Caps means that your city will not grow no matter how much demand you have (somewhat similar to a Stage Limit). Here are the initial Demand Caps for your developers: R$: 20,000 R$$: 2,000 R$$$: 1,000 CS$: None CS$$: None CS$$$: None CO$$: 3,000 CO$$$: 2,000 IA: 30,000 ID: 14,000 IM: 7,000 IHT: 4,000 Note that Demand Caps are city specific. That means nothing you do in the Region will effect Demand Caps. To combat demand cap, you need to provide Demand Cap Relief. For Residential, Demand Cap Relief usually takes the form of parks, rewards, hospitals, and the University. For example, the Country Club relieves the R$$$ Demand Cap by 8,000 (in other words, you will be able to house an additional 8,000 R$$$ Sims in addition to your initial 1,000 for a total of 9,000 R$$$ Sims that your city can hold). Other notable Demand Cap Reliefs are the Major League Stadium (300,000 relief for R$ and R$$) and the Minor League Stadium (200,000 relief for R$ and R$$). For R$$$, the Stock Exchange is your best bet boasting 125,000 relief for R$$$. Commercial Demand Cap Relief comes from neighbor connections. For example, if you have a Highway connecting to SimNation (NOTE that the neighboring square does NOT actually have to be a city. Connecting to a blank region square still counts.), that counts as 100,000 Demand Cap Relief. Note that you can only do this three times to get a Demand Cap Relief (per type of connection. In other words, three Highways, three Roads, three Rails, etc.). You can have as many neighbor connections as you want, but only three count as Demand Cap Relief. Other notable neighbor connections include Subway, Road, and Rail. Also, Airports, the Convention Center, the University, and the TV Studio help relieve Commercial Demand Cap as well. For industrial, any amount of completed trips to a neighbor connection relieves Demand Cap. Unlike Commercial, this is unlimited; so make as many neighbor connections near your industrial zones as you can. So the more Freight Trucks that leave your city, the more Demand Cap for Industry you will have. Seaports are included in this as well (just make sure that Seaports are the ONLY connection nearby, because trucks usually bypass the Seaport if a road or Highway comes before it). Notable buildings that also relieve Idustrial Demand Caps include the Army Base, Radio Station, and Advanced Research Center (for IHT ONLY). Hope I helped.

1 pointBanished, a city-building strategy game by Shining Rock Software is released today. What is Banished? Welcome to the world of Banished! In this city-building strategy game, you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland. The objective of the game is to keep the population alive and grow it into a successful culture. Options for feeding the people include hunting and gathering, agriculture, trade, and fishing. However, sustainable practices must be considered to survive in the long term. Gameplay The townspeople of Banished are your primary resource. They are born, grow older, work, have children of their own, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and well-fed are essential to making your town grow. Building new homes is not enough—there must be enough people to move in and have families of their own. Banished has no skill trees. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so. There is no money. Instead, your hard-earned resources can be bartered away with the arrival of trade vessels. These merchants are the key to adding livestock and annual crops to the townspeople’s diet; however, their lengthy trade route comes with the risk of bringing illnesses from abroad. There are twenty different occupations that the people in the city can perform from farming, hunting, and blacksmithing, to mining, teaching, and healing. No single strategy will succeed for every town. Some resources may be more scarce from one map to the next. The player can choose to replant forests, mine for iron, and quarry for rock, but all these choices require setting aside space into which you cannot expand. The success or failure of a town depends on the appropriate management of risks and resources. Survival Surviving the winters will be among your greatest challenges. Your tailors can make clothing, your people can build houses and burn firewood. But necessities have a price—Cutting down forests reduces the deer population you can hunt. Although your foresters can plant new trees, the cures for many diseases can only be found in forests that have existed for decades. Farming for many seasons in one place will ruin the soil. Taking fish and game faster than they reproduce will lead to extinction, and your starvation. Wandering nomads can join your town to grow the population quickly, but allowing them in increases the chance of illnesses from far off lands!
