Hi everyone! Thought this is a good place to start, so here goes...

I'm a big fan of the SimCity series, and first started playing SimCity 4 about eight years ago. To me, SimCity is not just a game, but a tool that is driven by your own imagination and creativity.

For a game that is rapidly approaching its 10^th anniversary, one of the reasons that still drives me to play is the huge fan base behind the game. With new custom content, the game continues to be pushed to new boundaries. It makes you wonder, if there was no internet or fan-sites like Simtropolis, would the game still be as popular today?

I’ve not played for a while, but am looking forward to getting back into it, especially with the new SimCity on the horizon. Sadly, I did have an old account that I used exclusively for downloading from the STEX. But now, I aim to be a more actively contributing member, and be more involved in the Simtropolis community.

Nice to meet everyone! I am an oldie here at 53 but being differently-abled and in pain a lot, I find SC4 a really good distraction. I live in an apartment with a husband of 32 years and a very, very rotten tuxedo cat named Sylvia Joy! I divide my time between computer games, photography as much as able and a boatload of hobbies such as cross stitching, crochet and sewing including blankets for the shelter kitties here in town. Hi, Im from Costa Rica, just got the 2012 version. Im new to this game and I think its awesome, Never played this kind of game before. Very relaxing most of the times.

Now, at the moment my cities are awful, I started by building stuff and following the citizens satisfaction advices, and make things eficient, till my first city got to 3.000.000 and something like $70.000.000, but it looks terrible. Now im thinking with all the overproduction of this city I can worry more about making a city that looks nice. I started with and easy map (Paris) and my goal is to build it block by block to make it look as much as the real thing as possible. I dont live there, been there only once for like a week, but the main idea is to use some satelite shots and just build the parks and stuff as real as possible.

Just want to have a looks like Paris and Im not gonna worry too much about putting all the actual roads as it is impossible with the map layout, but my problem is the buildings dont seem anything like the real buildings in Paris, wich are for the most part very similar. I found one in the skilled workers , medium density that would do the job but the game asigns random buildings (so i would have to build and destroy anything that doesnt looks like that one and rebuild untill all look the same). also the pack does not include any buildings that work and is too expensive to build with it, which is not a main concern, but still.

I would like to know if there is a mod or a way to have the game build the same tipe of building or if there is anywhere I can download mods that work with this version that I can try otherwise I think I just wont proceed with this project and try to get my own good looking city.

I'm not sure what game you are talking about. You said 2012, so I'm assuming CitiesXL. I suggest you ask for help in the appropriate forum, not many members wander over here.

Hi there. I'm Sabrina (Faire) I registered forever ago but never really posted. I've been playing SimCity since the original NES system. I've always loved it and played all of them except for Societies. Looking forward to the new game!!

I started playing SC4 again to get back into the game but I've been having PC problems that have prevented me from playing. Hoping to get those fixed soon. I'm trying to play without money cheats this go around. So far I've found it hard waiting for my Sims to do stuff so I have money and reason to build more.

Unfortunately, although there was a time when the CXL forum was to the brim with activity, it has been losing popularity recently. Most CJs there hardly get attention, and although technical issues are often helped with, sections like custom content and the exchange are hardly posted on. There aren't many people that research CXL or discover new things nowadays. However, this is definitely the go-to site for SC4. You can find almost anything in ST, from modds to discussion about the game. I wish you good luck in your endeavors, and have fun building!

Not entirely giving up on my other gaming as I haven't been playing online lately except XBOX 360. Sims city will be a new thing for me, I am really interested in these kind of building sequel games and been trying to find one for some time now then came across this one on YouTube. Can't wait. I've puchased SimCity 4 and playing it atm, can't wait until 5 comes out tho.
