The Deluxe Police Station and the cars in the model file

You've probably noticed the vanilla, 1950s-looking police cars sitting in the model of the vanilla Deluxe Police Station, next to the building itself. They tend to clash with more modern police car automata. Has anybody changed the model file to remove these, or has nobody bothered yet?

You can see what I'm talking about with this picture from the Police Car Expansion Pack:

I’m not sure it’s easily alterable, unless those cars are separate props you can swap out in the LE, they are part of the main model (building) itself.

Whilst theoretically possible to remove them, in practise that’s some very complex image editing required to do it.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

@rsc204's second assumption is the correct one. They are part of the model file itself, but for this purpose that simply means they are present in the FSH images which wallpaper the wire frame of the building.

As such, there are 13 images that contain cars (or portions thereof) which would need edited. (For the two farthest out zooms they are too blurry to see the parked cars so I suggest there's no need to alter them.)

Sample 1:

Sample 2:

Using @rivit's GoFSH Tool it's easy to extract those from a .dat file and then convert them to .bmp format for easy editing. Once edited, GoFSH can convert them back to the format the game likes and even pack them into a new .dat file to use as an override.

Here are the images which would need changed (already converted to .bmp) for you: Deluxe Police Station Images with Police Cars.zip

If you'd want to tweak those using your fav image editor and send them back, I can easily re-convert to FSH and then make a .dat file for you. (This is actually the sort of image editing I can do pretty well, but RL has been setting limits on me for a while now.)

Thank you for the reply! I'm not sure I can edit them satisfactorily myself, but I can at least try. If anyone else wants to have a go at it, feel free.

If I were to do it, I would change them to an empty parking lot and if you aren't in any hurry, I might get them done this month or next or within the year. *:P

That's probably what I would do, and I'm not in a hurry.

@CorinaMarie Didn't you post an alpha version of the fix you made in this thread? I'm not sure if it got lost in the server wipe or not. The images you posted are gone, at least.

In my post here, I included all the FSH images which would need tweaked. I've now restored the two missing sample images and the Zip File in that post. You do not need to download that Zip as it simply contains the Maxis originals. I provided them in case you were going to try your hand at the editing. *;)

Then in early March I stumbled across them in my GoFiSH projects folder, got embarrassed for how long it'd been sitting there, and subsequently worked diligently to create a finished file for you.

This DAT contains all my image tweaks: Cori's Deluxe Police Station Cars Removal Override FSH v0.05.dat

I seem to recall you said thanks for it and would get back to me on how it looked for your purpose.

I want to thank you again for your work. I unfortunately have not tested it yet - life gets in the way and all - but I will let you know when I do use it.
