As my civic duty I will help. Attached is the slope parameters you need to Un Check. for you to use the RRW with another slope Mod. They come under the name of C_RealRailway_Tunnel which in turn is the Tunnel and Slope Parameters.

Delete the current Network Addon Mod folder and uncheck the folder icon with the given name, (C_RealRailway_Tunnel)

Please reply back on any issues that arise to this matter.

As for the Legacy plugin. That still needs to be assembled at this stage.

Eggman!! You are a lifesaver.  Thank you so much!  Another (probably stupid) question with RRW.  I've noticed certain curves don't reskin, particularly when I'm trying to do a y-intersection of sorts with track.  See my screenshot.  Any suggested fix for this?

Hi @FireSka

Glad I could help in the previous post.

Now too your setup...

Such a sharp turn is not supported by the RRW. Too tight curvature!

I would...

A) Widen the geometry or

B) Remove that movement and place a station down the line to support that movement.

The original founder was a rail engineer and wanted the RRW to be more like the real deal you see at Railways in the world. Something I have maintained.

It does add a bit more complexity but can add for some more creative setups.

Got it.  Thanks!  I was able to use the space available and create a similar setup that did the trick!  Just took some playing around and I needed to create a 1x1 dirt filler lot to make it look nice.  Appreciate your help and hard work!

i'm interested in real expressway feature. can anyone explain ?

The idea behind the REW is to add a series of fast urban connections, perfect for ring roads in cities, using the OWR network. This makes it like a cut down version of RHW, only without being an actual highway we can zone right next to it. It's a first release right now, so a little basic (I understand), but the concept will grow in time to allow for multiple lane widths of NWM's OWRs (i.e. from 1 to 5 lanes in each direction), with the ability to split lanes off the main carriageway neatly like RHW ramps do now. It's something I'm looking forward to the evolution of myself, you can read more about it here.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I like REW. I'm using OWR in my one city, even to the limit. In fact, I've made 40-lane network using 8 OWR-5 to accommodate 100K+ traffic and that's only going up. REW only makes this style of networking more advanced, flexible, and more friendly to fast commuters. I will try the new NAM soon.

Thanks.

Did they stop working while running NAM 37, or after reinstalling NAM 36?  NAM 36 is no longer eligible for tech support, and any users who choose to still use it (or any release that isn't NAM 37) are doing so strictly at their own risk--especially as the installer for NAM 36 is actually quite broken (the main reason we shifted to this new installer).

If it's a NAM 37 issue, note that the NAM's file architecture has changed with this release.  The entire mod is now contained in the "Network Addon Mod" folder, whereas with NAM 31-36, it was split between "Network Addon Mod" and "z___NAM".  The instructions for users running an existing NAM when installing NAM 37 entail removing both those folders.  If things stopped working with NAM 37, if you by chance had those generators stashed inside of z___NAM, it's possible they are not in your Plugins folder anymore.  Alternatively, if you changed Automata Plugin options, that might also have an impact.  (Radical Persistent is the most automata-heavy version.)

For some reason I can't get the NAM 37 to work for me, I installed it on an old 2gb Ram computer and it always comes out every time I enter a city, and the other computer followed all the steps mentioned and it still comes out, Now I do not know if I did the wrong thing about the 4gb patch or if I have any flaws to add, it should be noted that my game version is GOG, in its latest version.

Even if you only have 2GB RAM, the 4GB Patch will still allow the game to get into virtual memory.  Another user on this thread (can354dra) did successfully get the NAM 37 working on a laptop with 2GB RAM, through using the 4GB Patch so it is possible.

It does sound like your copy is still somehow not patched.  (Do you by chance have multiple copies, such as an older copy installed from before you got the GOG one?)  Just to go through the steps again:

    1) Open up 4gb_patch.exe.

    2) In the box that pops up, navigate over to your SimCity 4.exe file.  By default, the location of this file for the GOG version is C:\GOG Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps (unless you have changed the installation directory).

    3) Wait for the "Executable successfully patched!" box to appear, and click "OK".

It won't hurt to try it again.  You can also check to see if the patch has been processed by going to the location of SimCity 4.exe (again, C:\GOG Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps, unless you have changed it).  If the patch has been applied, there should also be a file called "SimCity 4.exe.Backup" in the folder with it.

Also, are you using GOG Galaxy or the "Offline Backup Game Installer" option?  I've heard of some users having difficulty with GOG Galaxy, whereas the "offline" option is rock solid.

Thank you very much for your help. Everything worked with NAM 36. I did not lose them until I installed NAM 37. I have gone back to 6 and can't get them to work. I will try to change some of the options.

I also want to say thanks again and that I love the new installer!  I like that all the files are in one folder now as well.  Makes it easier just to delete the mod and reinstall using the installer in the future.  I was getting a lot of random CTDs before NAM 37.  Now this seems to be fixed (so far).  Also, a bug where it the game would freeze on save in large cities seems to be fixed (so far).  Maybe that 4gb patch helped fix as well?  Anyway, THANKS!

I posted this on the general support thread, but it seems this one gets more activity, apologies for the redundancy, but does anybody know if the  Legacy Ave Turn Lanes (when checked in the NAM37 installer) come in LHD?  I've tried several installs and I can only seem to get RHD in game.  Even after selecting LHD options for everything else (which work in - game , but the automatic Ave turn lanes do not).

It could just be the textures, are you using the US or Euro set?, I can attach a patch to see if that's sufficient to resolve it.

So I just tested it with the LHD textures and there is no difference. Regardless of textures, the paths are correct (LHD), but the T21s are in RHD config. I'm not sure if this is missing LHD INRUL or some modified S3D's that may not be present for LHD users.

    Thanks @rsc204 for the response!

So I should’ve probably clarified that I meant the turn arrows for the Legacy Ave Turn Lanes were still RHD.  I didnt check the paths.  Im not too familiar with the lingo so pardon my ignorance here, but if im understanding you correctly it sounds like the pathing is LHD as it should be,  but the arrows are still on the RHD side (consistent with what Im getting in my game)....., and this may be due to missing files or components?

I'm talking about the ones that appear when you drag one avenue into another to make an intersection. The other legacy one is the TuLEP puzzle pieces, which at least seem to have LHD support, although there are texture issues. For certain with the later LHD versions require a special set of S3D files. But some LHD content requires custom RUL or INRUL (Code), specifically so LHD users have them working properly. I simply don't know enough about these legacy pieces to go any further. I suspect with the wild ride of NAM 37's development something got missed.

NAM 37 installed! I have one issue. I have NO traffic. No highway or road traffic. No monorail. No train. With NAM 36 I used add-on automation and always had tons of traffic. Is there a way to have that with NAM 37 or is it population dependent? One of my regions has a population of 4,610 and no one is traveling anywhere although the data view shows traffic.

Officially I know of no plans to do either really, to be frank it's a lot of someone's time and the basics should be pretty self-explanatory.

Yes, there are some options in the install that might not be completely obvious what they do. But if you look at the right side when hovering over an option, there should be the text that explains it under "Additional Information".

    NAM37_Install.jpg.9beb06121b2a11c641740d54bc333737.jpg

Between that and the comprehensive Read First documentation, most users should have no problems installing NAM 37. If you have a specific question about something you don't understand, of course we're here to assist, just ask.

I can’t even get the installer to come up. I’ve downloaded both files before downloading this and it still done work. Did java First. And still wouldn’t work. The. TheN 4G exe. thing maybe a issue with that idk. I Put it with the SimCity.exe. Backup which was my only option.

Try downloading AdoptOpenJDK and use that instead of the Oracle version.  Its a much more straight forward install process.  Oracles installer always gave me issues in the past.  Once installed just double click on the NAM installer file.

The link is on Page 1 of this thread.

This file is included inside the .zip file the NAM comes with. You do need to patch your main SC4 .exe, but that won't affect the installer working or not.

    4 hours ago, Evanjs said:

The installer is a .jar file within the same .zip download, if when you double click this, nothing is happening, then it's most likely java is either not installed or not correctly installed. In the first scenario, I'd fully expect Windows to show a pop up, asking you what application to open the file with, since there would be no association with the .jar file format. You did extract the contents of the .zip file before trying to double click the .jar file (installer)?

I realize that I am probably not explaining this very well. Allow me to try this again. First, my apologies for lack of specifics previously.

I was using NAM 36. I also have traffic, train and monorail generator and ALL worked. I had massive traffic. I removed NAM 36 and related files as explained. I installed NAM 37 and set the traffic simulators as high as they would go. I am now running NAM 37 and have no traffic whatsoever. No highway or road, no train or monorail. I have some questions.

Will the traffic simulator/automation allow for traffic all the time?

Are the NAM 37 simulators/automation dependent on region/city population?

Will NAM 37 work with train, traffic and Fanta's monorail generator?

What might be the most likely reason I am not getting any traffic?

Thank you in advance. I like the possibilities of NAM 37 a great deal and it's obvious that a huge amount of time, talent and energy has gone into it. I am trying to save some of my very detailed cities and just need a little help with transit.

Sounds like you set capacity as high as it would go, so the actual traffic is a tiny fraction of capacity, so the displayed automata and commerce are... well you can do the math.

With the assistance of jeffryfisher and Tarkus and applying common sense, patience and reading, I have successfully installed NAM 37 and can report that Fanta's monorail generator, the train generator dat from SC4Devotion and my highway/road traffic simulator, also added on all WORK.

The NAM really is a must-have in my humble opinion. It's hard to comprehend the work that goes into development, release, and support. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you to the NAM team. For those struggling, the install is different than previous versions but much better with loads of options. I recommend reading ALL of the instructions. Also, before you install NAM 37, I recommend backing up your entire plug-ins folder and saving it to a file so that can go back if you need to.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
